Buccaneers 30, Falcons 17

Money!

How does 9-3 sound?

Joe thinks it’s glorious.

Not since 2008 have the Bucs had a start like this. But it’s certainly felt a lot more dominant than it did back then.

Throw, throw, throw. That was the Bucs’ plan today and worked perfectly.

If not for Tom Brady’s ridiculous pick-6 from the end zone with seconds remaining in the first half, today’s game would have been a true blowout.

The sack-machine defense overcame terrible tackling, poor run defense and rough days by Lavonte David and Devin White to suffocate Matt Ryan and change the game. Yes, a pass rush is a beautiful thing. Multiple sacks by Vita Vea and Ndamukong Suh surely made Warren Sapp drool somewhere.

How bout the bottle of cologne, cornerback Pierre Desir coming up with a huge forced fumble in the second half to change the game. Jamel Dean left injured last week in Indianapolis and the defense fell apart. This week he left with a concussion and Desir hung in their pretty well.

Hats off to Carlton Davis shaking off rust and staying healthy. You never know when a guy comes back after all that time off.

As for Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, not words can express Joe’s excitement. They combined for 22 catches for 242 yards. It was like a 2019 flashback.

Bring on the Bills!

This Defense will have to play a lot better to beat the Packers, Cardinals, Rams, or Cowboys in the playoffs.

  2. Medicated Pete Says:

#1 seed or bust. We need the 1st rd bye

  3. unbelievable Says:

Why close comments on the game day thread when the game is still going?

  4. PassingThru Says:

I thought he made a football move

  5. Francisco Guzman Says:

Medicated Pete no they don’t. They don’t need the top seed.

  6. Francisco Guzman Says:

BradyBucs the Cardinals don’t worry me. The team that worries me is the packers still.

  7. Wesley Says:

Defense looked much better that 2nd half.

  8. PassingThru Says:

Like clockwork, we lose a DB towards the end of the game.

  9. EA Says:

Shut out football by the D in the second half, penalties 3 for 15 yards, way to go.

  10. Francisco Guzman Says:

Bunting injured? What’s with the damn injuries?

  11. Rod Munch Says:

I hate when Joe closes threads early – he’s tempting fate.

  12. Francisco Guzman Says:

These corners are always getting nicked up? What’s the deal?

  13. unbelievable Says:

Oh great- SMB injured again… cuz ya know, the game is still going.

    ——-

I have a simple solution… Have White run forward, not backwards.

Swear to God that works, literally changes the entire defense.

  15. Wesley Says:

Why are the starters still in this game? Come on Bruce!

  16. Francisco Guzman Says:

    Just ridiculous .

  17. Rod Munch Says:

You don’t take your starters out of this game. What are you dopes talking about? If it’s 3 scores, yes, not 2 scores, not when you have this defense.

  18. unbelievable Says:

    Davis didn’t even try

  19. Francisco Guzman Says:

This team can’t be having injuries this late into the year.

  20. unbelievable Says:

    Nice.

  21. JimmyJack Says:

    Domination!!

Defense looks like they are rounding into form. Been getting better and better the last few weeks!! What a day by the front 7. Especially the interior line. Looked like we had Warren Sapp and Aron Donald in our rotation today…….And McCoy got in for that TD drive

  22. Francisco Guzman Says:

Let’s hope bunting is ok. Sick of the injuries on the secondary. These guys are made out of glass.

  23. Merlin Says:

D gives up 1Td all game on the opening drive, and non stop whining about how bad our D is from the peanut crowd. Y’all even bucs fans?

  24. Wesley Says:

@Rod – what the hell are you talking about? There was 1 minute to go and we were up 13 points. Of course you take your starters out you dope!

  25. Doctor Stroud Says:

The Bucs defense held the Falcons to zero points in the second half! Good work, guys!

  26. Defense Rules Says:

Other teams passing so much against us is beating the crap out of our Secondary; making too many tackles. And these guys aren’t the biggest players on the team either. Noticed Vita Vea during the game next to one of our smaller players & checked something. Vea only weighs 1 lb less than Darden & Miller … together. Big guy.

  27. Francisco Guzman Says:

And the Vikings lose to the lions in the last minutes. What a joke they’re.

  28. Rod Munch Says:

Holy crap the Lions just beat the Vikings on the last play of the game… LOL!

  29. SOEbuc Says:

    Let’s get this home game.

  30. dmatt Says:

Great win but I have concerns about MEvans n JDean regarding never giving up on a play. Dean could’ve stop that td right at the two 1 or 2 UF line n ME didn’t try stretching out to catch a pass from Brady. Great players make those catches.

  31. Bob in valrico Says:

I not sure what excited me more the great effort from the Dline. Fantastic effort from Vea and Suh who kept Ryan out of sync a good bit.
The offensive game plan ,Brady’s execution and confidence distributing the ball
    around.

  32. Conte Piscatelli Says:

Ronald jones with 2 touches then gone. He looked checked out in both plays no effort, gave nothing and then got the hook for the game. I have to wonder about his emotional/mental health. It happens look at Calvin Ridley, dude stepped away from football to take care of himself. Maybe Ronald needs to ask himself if he really wants to play football right now.

  33. orlbucfan Says:

Good thing Bucs won. The whole team deserves it and the credit. All the Brady hysteria is beyond old.

  34. firethecannons Says:

Matt Ryan is a sack magnet! our o-line was outstanding thing of beauty!

  35. Bob in valrico Says:

    Conte…….telli ,
there was a report ROJO was under the weatherduring the game.

  36. Cobraboy Says:

    Injury report?

  37. Hondo Says:

Is it just me but the Bucs play appears very sloppy in the beginning of the game.

  38. Rod Munch Says:

Anyone who watched this game, and all they can think about is Rojo, well they are mentally deranged, likely a stalker, certainly hang out a lot in mens locker rooms.

  39. Conte Piscatelli Says:

Wait, it’s weird to hang out in men’s locker rooms? I may need to reevaluate my life’s

  40. Christos Says:

Congrats to the Defense that gave up only 10 points. But they need to fix and change some things. Today ATL converted 6 or 7 times a 3rd down and 9+ yards. Too many times for 3rd and long. Happens in other games too. i dont get it.
Also one of the Joes or Ira please can you ask Arians why the team tries to go for points with 25 seconds left from their own 10 yard line. They pass once and got 1 yard and then they pass again for a pick six. He always says have to stop playing stupid and i agree. But how about to stop coaching stupid too. The end of the half left me a feeling that i had just lost millions of brain cells. It was plain Stupid. So stupid

  41. SausageKingOfChicago Says:

Correct that Mike Evans doesn’t lay out for passes. But I’m ok with it. He’s getting up there and I bet if he lays out, he’ll get injured and be out for the year. Have him do what he does best … back shoulder catches and post ups in the end zone on red zone opportunities.

  42. Listnfrmafar Says:

    Christopher, YA THINK?

  43. Listnfrmafar Says:

Sausage, ( a little weird typing that), great point. He is an elite receiver but limited and I think Brady maybe trying to get him to do things out of his comfort zone and that’s OK, they need to get more on the same page. If Evan’s doesn’t want to get injured to play another game, that’s fine let Scotty be the sacrificial lamb down field.

  44. Rod Munch Says:

Piscatelli – Well it is 2021, so it’s probably all the age. Maybe I aged out and I’m not ‘with it’ anymore. Fair point.

  45. Robert Smith Says:

I lived in New England most of my life and was a fan of the Patriots long before TB12 when they were the Boston Patriots we suffered for many years until TB12 came on the scene. When he decided that he needed to go elsewhere I agreed with his decision as I thought he was not getting the respect he deserved. I’m very happy that he chose the Bucs to extend his career. I’m now an avid Bucs fan but I still have a place in my heart for the Pats. A Bucs/Pats super bowl would be: damn! I can’t even think of an appropriate word!

  46. adam from ny Says:

not once ever did i even think this game was in jeopardy…

i used to carry a huge bottle of deodorant on game day during the jameis years, because i was sweating for wins

  47. Steven L. Benner Says:

Great game today!!! Just don’t know what happened with Brady throwing that interception???!!!! He redeemed himself though…..played great the rest of the game. Our Defense needs to seriously stop the run game from the opposing teams- they just run through us!!!! POOR TACKLING- it takes 4 guys to stop one runner. Tagging him isn’t going to get it! Have to finish the job and bring that dude to the ground!!!! Have to do it fast cause some of these new players are Super Quick- once they get going they’re taking it to the house! Go Bucs!!! Looking better each week!!! 9-3!

  48. Steven L. Benner Says:

Hey, does anyone have a problem with our Kicker???!!! He missed an Extra Point today and has missed a few in some other games too! He used to be One of the Best- Todays game was in a Domed Stadium ….No Sun, No Weather Issues- wind, rain etc. Shouldn’t have missed that extra point. Can’t be missing Chip Shots especially against the Packers & the Cardinals. It’s crazy stuff like this that can cost the Team a Win!!!
