Bruce Arians Has A Chance To Coach Sunday

December 31st, 2021

Interim coach explains.

Last night famed JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman Twittered that he spoke with Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians who had tested positive for the COVID, and Ira reported Arians was dealing with minor symptoms.

Sounded more like a cold than the flu to Joe.

Today at his press conference, interim coach Harold Goodwin said Arians has not been ruled out to travel to New York to coach Sunday’s game.

Per the new NFL COVID protocols, if someone tested positive and has no symptoms, he can return after five days. This applies to coaches as well.

Goodwin said he spoke with Arians last night and plans to speak with Arians again this afternoon. Based on how he is feeling today, the team and Arians will decide if he makes the trip to Sopranos Land.

“To my knowledge, if those guys meet that five-day window, they are eligible to come back,” Goodwin said of Arians. “Only thing is, they can’t fly with us. They have to fly on their own.

“Yesterday he sounded really good. So there is probably a chance he makes it back. Always want[the] leader around and he’s the head guy. So if we can get him back, get him back so we can keep our mojo going.”

If this game were at a warm-weather site, Joe can see Arians returning. It’s supposed to be cold and rainy Sunday in northern New Jersey. Not exactly the kind of weather you want to stand outside when you are battling a virus. (Of course, Arians could sit in a cozy coaches’ booth.)

Time will tell if Goodwin has to run the show or if Arians will resume his duties.

Do y’all really think it matters? Seriously, whatever brain or coaching ability Arians had, it’s long gone. The result of years and years of alcohol abuse. He won’t be back next year

  2. Elita Vita Says:

Great opportunity for Goodwin to show his wares. After all, he is the assistant head coach and should be prepared to temporarily fill in for the head honcho. Let Arians get a much needed rest. It will be a strenuous playoff run as it is. With Bowles and Leftwich in their usual roles we will succeed.

Should NOT be his decision. Glazers SHOULD not ask him to extend.
A new HC should be brought in. Hopefully happens.

why would you crazy people be saying we’re getting a new head coach…

    wtf is wrong with you

  5. Bucthis Says:

Ben Green and company, you guys are idiots. I’m so glad we have BA as our coach instead of you keyboard warriors. A Super Bowl win and on our way to the playoffs sure isn’t a sign of a crappy coach. It takes good leadership to surround yourself with talented coaches. Go look at Jacksonville to see what happens when the staff doesn’t believe in the Head Coach. We have a great coaching staff from the top to the bottom. Now if we can just get some of our players healthy to make a run. Go Bucs!!

Ben Green you should go to work at side splitters, now thats funny.

    Ben Green = Jackazz

  8. crazyBucs_CL Says:

for people that love BA, relax; nobody is asking to fire BA; very simple, his contract is up, his health is where it is; his coaching skills are getting blurrier every day…. is called ageing… so just don’t extend his contract.
In this business you should be sharp and in shape…. he is not.
You can not take risk in HC job, is not like WH that you can put anyone, even Brandon, and still no problems.
Re-retire BA, put him in JG spot ring of honor, and let move on.

@BEN GREEN … “Seriously, whatever brain or coaching ability Arians had, it’s long gone. The result of years and years of alcohol abuse. He won’t be back next year.”

There was a time when statements like that were considered to be slanderous, and the writer could be held accountable in a court of law. Apparently with today’s internet, far too many feel free to denigrate others without even a speck of proof.

How do you KNOW that Bruce Arians abused alcohol for ‘years and years’? And as far as impairing his brain or coaching ability goes, last time I looked BA was the head coach of the reigning Super Bowl champion. Even though sites like JBF.com would probably be classified as blogs, where everyone is free to state their opinions about virtually anything, it’s still inappropriate Ben Green to disparage & belittle others without offering up even the slightest morsel of proof.

No offense intended but, I’d rather have Godwin than Goodwin.

  14. Crickett Baker Says:

Crazy and Bucs, you should both be buried in a red ant hill, naked. BA is the best coach I have seen in years!

  15. Crickett Baker Says:

I meant Crazy and Ben. Soo upset at their comments..

  16. Joe Says:

This is an opinion-generated site. Lot of folks, especially those who cover the Bucs but don’t know if they will have a job tomorrow, always tried to pigeonhole this site with some label.

What does Joe call it? Blog, news, message board, aggregate, whatever you wish. Joe believes one word best classifies JoeBucsFan.com perfectly.

    “Successful.”

  17. Joe Says:

Ben has clearly watched Bucs practices. LOL

    NOT!

  18. adam from ny Says:

  19. Gunnin4Ya Says:

    “Rainy and cold” huh…

Well, like many many things on this here site, let’s form up the accuracy and characterization of facts.

Game time temp 58 degrees. 30% chance of rain. So not “cold”, not “rainy”. Ask yourself how often “30% chance” matters in GO or Any state. Any strong cold/flu medication, some grown up determination, a jacket…he’s good.

    Them..the facts.

    Ben,
Take your stupid, classless opinions and stick them up your A$$ and leave this site, permanently!

Saints beat us with an interim coach and a crap QB. We ought to be able to handle the Jets with Goodwin. Give BA a few more days of rest.
