The Old Rob Gronkowski Is Back!

November 29th, 2021

Football party time with Gronk.

Of course Joe wrote about foot-rubbing, car-littering Rob Gronkowski within 90 minutes of yesterday’s thrilling finish. If not for Gronk, Joe isn’t sure the Bucs are even in the game.

The Bucs’ passing attack was virtually non-existent except for Gronk, who fried the Colts time and again by moving the chains with key catches.

Ken Patra of NFL.com was so impressed, like Joe, he felt he was watching the young, healthy Gronk of old.

His rapport with Brady remains friendship-bracelet strong. The TE looked rejuvenated early in the year. He’s back to that form now, able to dance in and out of routes and power through defenders after the catch. The only thing missing Sunday was a patented Gronk spike. If the TE stays healthy, expect more big games down the stretch. Few defenses have answers for Gronk when he looks as healthy as he did this week.

Joe will not argue one bit that Gronk is Brady’s security blanket. And on a day where the Colts did a helluva job guarding Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, they simply couldn’t cover everyone, which is the beauty of the Bucs offense and having almost too many weapons.

Man, Joe’s mouth waters at the thought of what this offense can return to when Antonio Brown comes back. Holy smokes!

Good afternoon, Bucs fans! 🙂

Holy Gronkamoli, he is the secret sauce for this Brady led offense.

    GO BUCS!!!

  2. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

We would not have won w/o Gronk. If you THINK that OJ Howard would have won that game for us, I want some of that stuff you are smoking.
Now, imagine if we would have had Brown as well!
The Bucs adjusted in the second half, and let Fournette and Gronk win the game for us.

  3. LVMYBUCS Says:

We should have asked Julian Edelman to come play, maybe he can get open

  4. Buc king Says:

Oj Howard is the biggest disappointment… I thought brady could fix his issues I guess i was wrong..thank god for gronk

i didn’t get to watch the game, just gamecast but that’s a good thing. I would have had a heart attack by halftime haha. Start the game with a 14 yd punt and then a fumble. 60 minutes Bucs!!!!!!!!!! not 30,40 or 50. 60!!!!!!! Generally speaking we either start fast and apply the breaks or we start slow like yesterday. COME ON MAN!!!! Normally I would say that we should dominate the Birds but Matt Ryan is a very good QB. But the game i dread the most is the Bills

  6. Steven007 Says:

Well with that over the top safety coverage on our wide receivers I guess teams now have the blueprint for… Oh wait, we won. And when AB comes back…

  7. PassingThru Says:

Gronk made some great blocks in addition to an impact on the passing game. I’m waiting for the return of Antonio Brown, he’s the perfect compliment to Gronk, Evans and Godwin.

AB is the best intermediate-level target on the roster. Teams have been using Cover Two shells on Brady, which restricts opportunities on deeper routes. AB is by far the best route runner on this team, he creates great separation that has to be respected by the safeties. Not only will AB generate yards by himself, he’ll also create opportunities for Evans and Godwin.

The one thing I’d love to see is more emphasis on the short and intermediate passing game. It isn’t just the Bucs, teams throughout the NFL have been increasing their use of two free safeties, cramming the defensive line with eight, with multiple linemen dropping back into coverage, and less blitzing. One of the best counters is more short passes to the RB, TE, and slot receivers (we saw more of that versus Indy than WFT). Hopefully, the Bucs are working on that and will unleash it in the final leg of the season.

Man, when AB gets back… it’s lights out. Lol still looking for a 50 burger. C’mon TB12, I needs that bro. Make it happen.
Defense getting healthier is also great news
    Go Bucs

  9. zzbuc Says:

I think this guy alongside Lenny where the main factors, along some mistakes by the colts….
    I know a W is a W, but I am very surprised that ME13 and CG14 are not being use very much…..

    Love my Bucs:

On the Manning Bros MNF show, Edelman said Brady did call him to play in Tampa. He said “ hell no” Patriot for life!

  11. VSyl Says:

With AB back we will go back to “too many weapons to cover”. If it already happened with Gronk yesterday, just imagine what will happen with AB+ Gronk

  12. Nate1111 Says:

Tom is our captain america but gronk is our hulk!

  13. ClodHopper Says:

With the way Gronk has a history with injuries and the way he plays, I freak out every time he touches the ball. lol. He takes so many hits and falls awkwardly when tackled.

And I love his USAA commercial. He is such a bad actor and he doesn’t even care.

  14. Sandman Says:

There was never a problem with opposite teams covering too many weapons. They can’t cover AB or Gronk.

  15. snookman Says:

THe fact of the matter is that Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are phenominal receivers with amazing skill sets but they are not great route runners(godwin is much better than evans). The chemistry between Brady and Evans, for the most part is, is good…..not great. Evans and Brady are not always on the same page and I blame that on evans not being able to run the percise routes like Gronk and AB. Godwin for some reason is not 100% on the same page as brady either. He is better than evans as a possesion receiver but nothing like AB, Gronk, Welker, and Edleman were

  16. thomas Says:

what about Shaq Barrett causing the fumble and recovering the ball. To me that was the play of the game.

  17. Capt.Tim Says:

    Thus the Plan emerges.
    Brown healthy. Gronk Rested.

    SuperBowl!

  18. Listnfrmafar Says:

I am confused, how does a 6’7″ TE with bad ribs and a deflated lung manage to get open, but the younger quicker guys can’t ? I am pretty sure all the DC’s in the league know who he is.

  19. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Looking forward in seeing both Gronk and Antonio Brown on the field at the same time.

  20. crazybucs_CL Says:

unbelievable energy source; great team mate; and undoubtedly the best TE I have seen playing the game.
I missed even the chit chat talk with Tom, he was doing weekly..funny.
Inspiring to see him back on the field, we are lucky for THE DUO playing for us.
    Let’s go B!

  21. JimBuc2 Says:

    Shine On You Crazy Diamond!
    GRONKZILLA!!

    LFG Bucs
    Let’s Go Brandon!!

  22. kyle Says:

completely different offense with and without the big fella. He is a beast, he was rag dolling dudes yesterday. I hate seeing him get hit so hard over the middle of the field.

  23. Crickett Baker Says:

Hey Joe! How come you don’t seem to be on sportspyder for the last few days?? I sure miss the title of articles being listed in one spot..What’s up?

  24. ClwJB Says:

It’s impossible to double everyone as was clear yesterday – they sat the S on top of Mike and Chris all game – TE lanes were wide open

But just think if that is NoJHoward…we lose for sure

Thank the good lord Gronk is back!
