Checking In On The 30 Club

November 10th, 2021

Team Glazer sees the scoreboard (not the team bank account, the scoreboard).

Joe presents the easiest and most accurate way to identify a playoff team in the modern era.

It’s even a great method to finding the eventual Super Bowl champ in a given season.

Simply look to see which teams are averaging 29.9 points or more per game.

Every single team achieving that level of offensive prowess through a regular season has made the playoffs since 2010, and Super Bowl winners are on the list in seven of the 11 years.

It’s no coincidence. And guess what? The Bucs currently lead the NFL in points per game at 32.5.

Here’s a look at all the big scorers of the last 11 1/2 seasons:

2021 Tampa Bay 32.5, Arizona 30.8, Dallas 30.1
2020 Green Bay 31.5, Tampa Bay 30.8, Buffalo 29.9
2019 Ravens 33.2, 49ers 29.9
2018 Chiefs 35.3, Rams 32.9, Saints 31.5
2017 Rams 29.9
2016 Falcons 33.8
2015 Panthers 31.3, Cardinals 30.6
2014 Packers 30.4, Broncos 30.1
2013 Broncos 37.9
2012 Patriots 34.8, Broncos 30.1
2011 Packers 35.0, Saints, 34.2, Patriots, 32.1
2010 Patriots 32.4

If you run into a Bucs-doubter friend or a clown of a Saints fan, or perhaps someone who screams that defense wins championships, point them to this post.

Next up on Sunday, Washington’s 29th-ranked defense.

Overanalysis sometimes. It’s the number of Ws that are the only truly meaningful statistic.

  2. AKicknTheBucNuts Says:

    Brady on list 5 times!

  3. Youngbucs Says:

And just think about it there we’re nut huggers who said the offense wouldn’t be better with Brady. When you’re in a cult you lose all critical thinking lol.

  4. sauron's eye Says:

Only wins count. Points win games. Most other stats are not meaningful.

  5. ArmchairGM Says:

It’s crazy to think the Bucs are the top scoring team while missing their top TE, one of the top WRs in the league, and their go-to deep threat WR. This offense is stacked.

  6. Crickett Baker Says:

That is one of the more interesting stats..

  7. Oneilbuc Says:

It’s easy when you playing with a all-star roster on offense but I guess Joe ain’t going to mention the difference in the roster. Lol 😆 🤣 now remember to all of you who said last week was a team lost when we crush Washington give credit to the team don’t make it Brady win this week !!!

  8. Swampbuc Says:

Rivera is a good coach and the Bucs O is predictable. First down up the middle run. One of the next two plays will be a shot. Etcetera.

The plus of that is the Bucs talent is good enough to make the plays a lot of the time. I would love to see Leftwich mix it up a little more.

Defense still wins championships. Bucs defense, not offense, is more responsible for the playoff success and SB win last season than the defense.

Exception – the defense played like toads against WTF. Who we are playing Sunday.

    Time to show up!

Swampbuc. I agree with you all the way on your take bro 💯 !!!

Leftwitch is no more than BA’s puppet. A terrible OC & has a long long way to go before he is considered HC material. Unless you listen to BA’s BS.
