Ali Marpet Talks Instagram Tells

Guard Ali Marpet

Some people buy into the notion that the Bucs are “the hunted” team this season, meaning because they won the Super Bowl individual players and teams will try harder to beat them.

And following that logic, the Bucs will have a tougher time repeating as champions.

Veteran Bucs guard Ali Marpet, who had a rough Sunday against Washington defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, wasn’t one to buy into that theory. In fact, Marpet said he didn’t feel anything of the sort on the field.

However, Marpet said he’s starting to believe there’s something to it because of what he’s seen on Instagram. Speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network last night, Marpet said twice he’s seen wild celebration videos from the locker rooms of teams that have knocked off the Bucs in 2021.

“Like on Instagram. … the postgame locker room for the other team. It’s like they won the Super Bowl. So that is different,” Marpet said. “I definitely think we’re marked off on everybody’s schedule.”

Still, Marpet is a sort a non-believer when it comes to those kinds of trends. He said the Bucs’ struggles on the road versus at home, where they’re undefeated, are “more coincidence than anything.”

Joe thinks the overall concept of a Super Bowl winner being “the hunted” is more about that Super Bowl winner being less hungry than the year before.

As far as your last paragraph Joe, I think it’s a combination of both. Of being “the hunted” (as evidenced by how teams celebrate after beating us in the regular season) AND being less hungry (can’t say that word w/o thinking of Raheem the Dream and “youngry” still to this day 😂)

Rams since they signed Stafford think they are the top dogs of the NFC and knocking off the Bucs was their SB, Saints & Washington Sent packing in playoffs and neither was a blowout so they obviously had something to prove especially with Jamais at the helm and let’s face it Payton out coaches BA every time. Let’s hope the Giants don’t have a bone to pick.

Long season. You have to take it week by week. A 2-6 WTF team won their biggest game of the season (congrats to them), and the Bucs lost a game everyone thought they should win. I dont have to read into feelings, emotions, and effort, when its obvious that if you give the opposing team the last 10 mins of the game with the ball , and you let them score, you lose the close game. The defense is still struggling, and likely for personnel issues in the secondary. This team only ever had a small window to succeed when it was put together. I think there is gas left in the tank, but changes will need to be made to this roster next season. Hoping the vets and playmakers on D can show up in the post season, but wondering how necessary they are soaking up roster spots and money during the regular season.

List, I think they’re definitely going to be going guns blazing against us Monday. Remember last year? When Antoine came screaming across the endzone to break up the 2 point conversion tying score? Correctly, it wasmt. The ball hit AWJr’s triceps before he bumped him, but Joe Judge was livid. They all were. Guarantee they remember, plus with how Danny Dimes balls out against us, I think this will be a tough one. We need all hands on deck and to prove to everyone, were still the Champs.

Other teams absolutely want to smash the Super Bowls champions. It’s ignorant to think otherwise.

I agree with you to a point, Joe. We did have a few games we dominated this season, when we should have. Bucs are a box of chocolates right now.

I know I am a BA basher but he is definitely in a league above Joe Judge, unless Monday night he proves me wrong.

So what – go hunt and whoop ass!!!

We still have the best roster in football (old sure) but the best.

Go win and stop beating yourselves.

    Agree on your last statement.

I agree with the “hungry” idea. I think Tom coming off BB’s extreme discipline got the team all fired up. Now Tom has changed. He has loosened up for the first time in his career. I think this change has possibly been detrimental to the team.

Just have to get healthy. GO BUCS!l
