Jamel Dean Out; Richard Sherman Will Suit Up

October 1st, 2021

Out Sunday.

It’s that bad for the Bucs.

The Bucs’ secondary is so beat up, the Bucs are pulling newly signed free agent corner and former All-Pro Richard Sherman out of mothballs despite only having three days of practice this season.

That’s the word from Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times.

That’s not to say Sherman will play on Sunday in New England But Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians said Sherman will be available.

Arians said at his afternoon news conference that everyone else who is on the injury report will be a game-time decision. Yes, that includes foot-rubbing, car-littering film guru Rob Gronkowski and Jason Pierre-Paul.

Why does Joe have the gnawing feeling that this game will be a nailbiter?

feels like they are all nailbiters

  2. MdBucsFan Says:

    Cut Dean he sucks

  3. @MidAtlanticBucsFan Says:

Look forward to seeing Richard Sherman suit-up. Perhaps pill-popping, Natty-Boh-binge-drinking, Rojo-peeved, Trask-bashing, meltdown-having @Medicated Pete can slip Richard the “Tampa special” in advance of the game Sunday night. Bucs will prevail, but like Joe, I think it might be a nailbiter… Get your popcorn ready.

  4. PassingThru Says:

Arians has been Belichickian with the injury status. I’m sure he knew Dean wouldn’t be ready but listing him as “limited” this week likely improved the team’s negotiation talks with Sherman. And still no word on the prognosis of Murphy-Bunting.

  5. August 1976 Buc Says:

The beginning of “assault and battery”/ in your face off the line of scrimmage pass coverage has begun lol

Richards strength has never been running, it legally mugging receivers off the line.

His presence is going to help the Secondary “grow a pair” in their pass coverage.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  6. gbobucsfan Says:

Man, I would hate to see RS get injured because we played him too early.

    GO BUCS !!!

  7. Robert Says:

he will play…but please don’t wait till they torch us 3 times to put him in!!!

play him as much as possible

  8. mark2001 Says:

Not surprised…hard to run on a damaged knee, even it if is a substantial sprain with minimal tearing.

  9. Buc4evr Says:

What about Desir and Robinson? Anyone know why Desir isn’t being brought up?

  10. Tye Says:

If he is going to play early, best to do it against a rookie…
Now if a rookie consistently burnt by a rookie, thats bad!

  12. The Beer Whisperer Says:

    *tough*

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Our dbacks will get burned no matter who they are if we don’t have a pass rush…….we’ve already proven that.

  14. PassingThru Says:

Well the good news is that the Patriots WRs kind of suck, but they improved slightly from the last two seasons. Agholor has boom or bust his entire career, Meyers is smart but unspectacular, Bourne has been the best of the three but not by much.

  15. SOEbuc Says:

How was a fourth string QB taken knowing how thin and young this secondary was. Jason’s great but that was a bad move. There was a lot of ppl saying CB and now the Trask fan club has been dead silent.

  16. SOEbuc Says:

And try to get Hamilton back on PSquad. He did not have a terrible PS.

  17. JimmyJack Says:

SOE as Kyle Trask fan club member I am in favor of developing a QB behind Brady for the future while brining back all our starters from a year ago. Not silent on Trask, just nothing to tzlj about til August.

Like sorry dude their arent no 2nd round rookie savior CB……or the least the chances are slim to nil……..We got 2 2nd rounder CBs that yall cant stand(Bunting, Dean). Not likely no rookie gonna do any better.

You could say Davis was a 2nd rounder, fair. But remember he took a beating as a rookie. Lets not pretend your are drafting some plug and play starter at #68………Far more likely you are drafting an M.J. Stewart or a Ryan Smith.

In any case we took an OL after the Trask pick. So if that pick wasnt QB it wasnt never gonna be a CB, it would of been a OL. I dont think we took any DBs tol round six or something your whole point is a bad retelling of hindsight history.

Now we got injuries and now we got Sherman. Thats a way way better option then a #68 rookie and its not even close.

  18. firethecannons Says:

Jamel Dean has never amounted to a hill of beans–get better and cut this kid next season!

  19. Seattle Buc is back in TB Says:

I’ve been wearing my Seahawks Superbowl “Tip heard around the world.” Shirt alot lately. Hopefully Sherm still got it.

  20. Jerry R Jones Says:

I don’t think Dean is the issue. Everyone on defense is playing subpar. It’s not like we have a ton of sacks. JPP looks old, Barrett looks like a rookie, but let’s all blame Dean. Idiots. The only person making a dent on defense is Vea. Devin White even looks average. They’re all in the same boat as far as I’m concerned, and that boat is taking on a sh!t ton of water.

  21. bucsfaninOregon Says:

It’s so simple. Your DB’s are beat up and you plug in the best that’s out there>>>>Richard Sherman. As good as you can get today.

  22. David Says:

I don’t think it will be a nailbiter.
I think the Bucs win easily.
They are not gonna lose 2 in a row or even have a close game this time. I think the pass rush is going to come to life, with or without JPP. I think the O line will play much better and Brady is going to
    light
    it
    up!

  23. JimmyJack Says:

JerryR im with you man. It is fair to criticize these corners(Dean may of actually played well last week). But when our defense overall is struggling Dean and Cockrell is not the first guys Im looking for to see make a big play and turn momentum.

Im looking for White, Barrett, JPP, David. Id even look for Winfield who had the opportunity on a great call by Bowles to change the game with a laye pick…….He gagged.

Look at Bucs history. When our defense had pressure thats when the big boys stepped up. Brooks, Sapp, Lynch, Barber……Id even throw Quarrels in there.

How bout our big time players show up on Sunday and lets just see if the secondaty responds? I thought we all agreed our Front 7 was the strenght? They need to step up and lead the way.

  24. MadMax Says:

Thats right! Feed him…he knows how

  25. Tim R. Says:

If Dean can not go then Richard must be ready to play a part time role. It will be up to him as to how much he is physically able to play. Mac Jones must be pressured. It is the key ingredient to the outcome of this game. Tom Brady and company will do their part. The front four must be better and the blitz must be more effective. Turn them loose.

  26. Ryan K Says:

Still not over Dean dropping a pick early in the game and then leaving a few plays later due to injury . Shame!

  27. LVMYBUCS Says:

    He’s a BUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. kyle Says:

^^Jimmyjack, good posts, agree 100 percent with your observations. Good job.

  29. Hodad Says:

Of course Sherman is going to play. All this bull about getting into football shape is just that bull. Remember last year, covid? No OTAs, limited time on the field, no joint practices, no preseason games. The season has started, there’s no hitting in practice anymore, and practices have become glorified walk throughs. So how is Sherman going to get in football shape? By playing football, starting Sunday.

  30. unbelievable Says:

Yikes, this is gonna be a rough night.

  31. DaBux Says:

These are the kinds of games were legends are born and reborn. Time for Sherman to state for the HoF that he belongs there.

  32. BradyBucs Says:

Where are all of you posters that were claiming over and over how great DEAN & SMB were? Even claiming Davis was “elite”??? ROFLMAO!

So funny how all of you have changed your tune and now are saying Dean & SMB suck — like a rare few of us on this site have been saying for over a YEAR.

  33. HC Grover Says:

Play Sherman as a Monster Man and let him loose to rove.

  34. Bucschamp Says:

    Legion of gravediggers

  35. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

Brady bucs,, right,,17-0,, best team ever,,ganna rock this year,, funny how things change so quickly,, keep the faith,,one game at a time

  36. Dre5563 Says:

We have to win! If we can’t stop this patriots offense, we have no chance to repeat.

  37. Buccsfan1 Says:

I believe we should explore trading for Marlon Mack from the Colts ,I think they would trade him for little to nothing they don’t need him and maybe he could give us a better run option than we currently have ,I believe he can be gotten very cheap, and I really think we should address the CB position as a whole like maybe trading some future picks for a decent CB now so that we can make a run for another SB.Jason we need to start looking at a few teams that know they don’t have a realistic chance at the playoffs.Like maybe a Jaguars team that might give up a good DB for a future pick,or two, something to consider

  38. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

    Hey Joe ,

How many corners did the Bucs bring in and work out? Please tell me it was more than one.
