“I Would Be Concerned If I Was The Rest Of The NFC”

Bucs rounding into form?

It seems that the Bucs are starting to turn into the schoolyard bully of the NFC.

(That’s cool because Vita Vea is already a bully — and Joe loves that!)

Who says this? The voice of the NFL Network and host of “The Rich Eisen Show.” that would be Rich Eisen.

Earlier this week he said the Bucs are starting to look like a championship team. Why’s that? Championship teams curb stomp wannabes.

“You know what they are doing?” Eisen asked. “They are beating opponents they should and they are beating them up. That’s what they are doing.

“They are beginning to do what championship teams do: They survive the best shots from people trying to make their bones against them. And then when teams don’t have the horses, ‘We are going to go boat race you.’

“Sure, you will get a loss here or there because you can’t go 20-0. That’s what the Bucs look like to me. I would be concerned if I was the rest of the NFC.”

Well, we will see if that happens tomorrow night in Philadelphia. And even if the Bucs don’t wallop the Eagles, Eisen will probably give the Bucs a pass. For example, Eisen noted the Bucs didn’t clobber the Belicheats because that was sort of an outlier game with all the pregame drama, etc.

So why might Eisen give the Bucs a pass if they don’t alley stomp the Eagles? Short week and travel to a Thursday night game would likely be his response.

The last two Bucs opponents only put up 17 points, despite the Tampa Bay secondary ravaged by injuries.

That alone has to be a good sign, no?

Cowboy fans are already saying they want the Bucs again…

  2. Medicated Pete Says:

Easy to say now b/c we should be 11-1 at that point says Pete

  3. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Thank God, no snow is predicted in Philly for the Bucs game.
Bucs can only expect batteries thrown at them.
    No snow or ice balls.

Here’s my list, of great Philly sports teams :

  5. Mike Says:

Philly has a good D-Line and that could cause some issues for the Bucs. If we can win at the line of scrimmage on both sides, we will walk out with a win.

  6. Howard Cosell Says:

Every Eagles fan believes that Gruden was treated unfairly

  7. The Beer Whisperer Says:

The great thing about Philly Fans, they’ll throw stuff at their own teams.

  8. Jerry Says:

I don’t really care what Cowboy (or Philly) fans have to say….and neither should anyone else.

  9. Bird Says:

Actually philly defense is ranked 30th against run.
And their Oline is missing 3 players that were considered starters at beginning of year

But the dual threat qb and winning in philly is tough
With our injuries, i hope this game is easy win but i doubt it

  10. Buc king Says:

    Gruden for president

  11. SlyPirate Says:

I chatted it up with some Philly fans.

I asked them if they believed Philly would win. Literally every fan expects the Bucs to crush the Eagles, even with the injuries.

  12. HC Grover Says:

Hold em’ under 20 and we win.

  13. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Safety tip, going to an Eagles game : don’t wear a foreign jersey.

  14. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I keep a Harold Carmichael jersey in my closet.
Just in case it’s ever needed.

  15. Brevard Buc Says:

TB12 has mentioned bullying our opponents, this year.

    Coincidence???

Hope we can keep it up and keep injury-free.

    Go Bucs.

  16. Beeej Says:

I grew up near RFK stadium, LOVED watching 5’9″ Pat Fisher cover Carmichael twice a year

  17. IrishMist Says:

Fletcher Cox always seems to give us trouble. We need a plan for him.

To Cowboy’s fans that “want the Bucs”, don’t wish for what you may not be able to handle. The Cowboys played an A game vs the Bucs while the Bucs didn’t bring their best effort, especially on defense.

If the Bucs do what they did last year which was continuing to improve every game then by the time the play Dallas in the playoffs, they could be firing on all cylinders. The Cowboys right now are a very good team, playing their best football.

The Bucs right now are just starting to round into form, I would take the Bucs playing at a high level over Dallas all day long. The Bucs had no pass rush vs Prescott and his quick thows in week one. Just by improving that pass rush, it is a completely different Buc defense.

We’ll see how it goes but the way Barrett and JTS are playing along with Vea, that pass rush is about to come around. All it took was a little more effort from Barrett to lead the defense. He appears to be playing his way into shape after coming in a little heavy in camp.

We deserve to have everyone concerned about us.

    Who says Dallas makes playoffs?

    Anybody that remotely follows football.
Their division is a cake walk.

  22. FrankPillow Says:

As Admiral Akbar once exclaimed, “It’s a trap!” I can easily see this one going the Eagles’ way. Short week + injuries = 25-23.

  23. Stanglassman Says:

Odds Cowboys make the playoffs is 86%.
That’s sounds about right. The 14% is bc Dak could get injured again.

  24. Defense Rules Says:

Listnfrmafar … If you look at the competition in the NFC East, the Cowboys SHOULD win the division walking away. And there’s a pretty good chance we’d see them again this year, so their fans might get their wish. But as the old saying goes … ‘Be careful what you wish for’.

Cowboys have actually scored slightly more points than we have through 5 games (170 to 167) and given up slightly fewer than we have (117 to 122), BUT … Bucs are still the better TEAM. Cowboys have been winning primarily because of their rushing (#2 rushing team) but guess what, Bucs are pretty good at stopping the run. Cowboys defense is ranked middle-of-the-pack overall, but their pass defense sucks (ranked #31) and guess what, Bucs are pretty good when it comes to our passing offense. As long as we’re healthy next time we play them, we can take them.

  25. godlovesbucs Says:

Short week game goes to the better team. Iggles are an average team at best. They use their qb as the main rb and have a hard time pushing the ball downfield. My guess is 31-20, Hurts sacked 3 times with 1 int. Fournette goes over 100 .

  26. Stanglassman Says:

I really liked the Eagles Rb Kenneth Gainwell in the draft. I hoped the Bucs would get him, he reminds me of a young Gio Bennard. KG is looking like he’s going to take over that lead back roll before long.

  27. David Says:

The fact that 3 of the starting 4 DBs have been injured and they only gave up 17 last couple games is a testament to the other player starting to stepping up, Bowles scheming, the pass rush getting better and better, Dean playing much better since returning

I expect the defense to get better and better as they get healthier

(That’s cool because Vita Vea is already a bully — and Joe loves that!)

Vita is “Mike Alstott” fun to watch man!

  29. ShermanWins Says:

Bucs dominate an inferior Iggles squad. 56-10. LFG!!!

  30. SpankyMcTrousers Says:

Remember… week 1 was Dak’s first football game back from a very serious injury, and he almost beat the Bucs in Tampa Bay.
