Bruce Arians Tees Off On Storyline Hype

October 4th, 2021

Grew weary of drama.

Interestingly, Joe knows of accredited Boston media types who happened to work for the very outfit that broadcast last night’s Bucs-Belicheats game and were denied access to One Buc Palace by the Bucs.

Joe initially thought that the Boston types were locked out so a certain quarterback could focus on, you know, the game.

That would be salad-bar-hating, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning Tom Brady.

But maybe it was Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians who ordered the Boston fourth estate members to be kept out of One Buc Palace?

During his final press conference last week, you could easily tell Arians was burned out of the hyped-to-the-death storyline of “Brady vs. Belicheat.”

Arians even grumbled that the Bucs had a good practice and it had nothing to do “with Brady.”

In his postgame press conference last night, Arians said a time or two that the Bucs wanted to win for the Bucs. Later, he was asked about the Brady-Belicheat angle again and Arians then vented his frustration over the hype, responding to question about what the win meant for Brady.

Somewhere, Bo Schembechler must have been smiling.

“I think it’s very, very special for him obviously,” Arians began, engines starting to rev up. “You know, he kept it inside all week and he’s probably letting it out right now.

“It was a big week for him but it was a bigger week for the team. I was very, very frustrated with everybody saying this [game] was a quarterback and a coach. This is a team sport. The Bucs won this game. We beat the Patriots. We were losing sight that this is a team game.

“Everybody wanted to make this all about Brady and Belichick. I don’t think Bill played a snap. He had 22 guys out there playing their ass off, and I knew he would. We had 22 guys out there playing their asses off. One of them just happened to be named ‘Brady.'”

Joe didn’t get caught up in much hype because Joe didn’t give a damn about the storyline. Joe never watched, rooted or gave two s(p)its about the Belicheats before. So Brady returning to New England not only didn’t mean a dang thing to Joe.

What did mean a great deal to Joe was the Bucs winning, and they did.

  1. SB~LV Says:

Bill Bellicheck has to be very happy in his rookie QB that played like the wyle veteran Drew Brees for a team without a running game .
Nothing to be happy about other than squeaking out 3 wins playing sloppy football.

  2. Jim Payne Says:

Need to add first down running to your description of Brady

  3. Bucsfanman Says:

If there has ever been a more hyped game, I don’t recall. It was absolutely nauseating! Every channel, every segment, on and on.
I’m happier to have all the drama out of the way than I am about the win! LOL!

  4. geno711 Says:

Two well coached teams with flaws played last night and the better team won. Another day in the NFL. Our guys did enough to win and are 3 and 1 instead of 2 and 2.

  5. Medicated Pete Says:

Pete wants a complete investigation into the Refs w/ full cavity searches

  6. SteveK Says:

In 2021, Tom Brady has more wins at Foxboro than the Pats, and in a victory last night Brady put rushed the entire NE team.

    Go Bucs!

  7. Buddha Says:

On a dry field this game isn’t close. At the end of the game, even missing five starters on defense, the Buccaneers made the plays they had to make. Seemed like the whole world was rooting for the cheats.

wow, what a fool, it is ONLY about Brady. His team mates played for him last night, and at the end they prevailed. Not you. You, like always, were just lost out there on side lines. šŸ™„

  9. Winny Testaverde Says:

Per Medicated Peteā€¦lots of questionable calls at best. The Jacoby Meyers fumble somehow overturned ( which should only happen with obvious bad calls )ā€¦I guess he didnā€™t make a 4th ā€œfootball moveā€. That was huge and prevented a red zone opportunity.

The only thing getting worst around here are your comments. Dude youā€™re not a very good troll itā€™s boring. If I had to rank the trolls here you are by far the worst. Go back to the lab work on your material smh.

Steve Belichick was the star of the night. He just got a movie deal in Joe Dirt 4

With all the hype…..this game came down to Succop vs Folk & Succop won!!!

  13. alton d green Says:

as i watched the game, i’m thinking about what i would say but i think i am a pinball in a pinball machine. The ONLY thing i can smile about is it was a “W” THAT’S IT. Tom barely broke 50% Don’t say “well it was the weather” are you serious” Their QB had no problem. We were totally outcoached. Than God the QB isn’t a longball threat. ONLY because he didn’t try haha. You can’t blame Sherman or any one def player. They are HORRIBLE. The d-line actually played a pretty good game. By a show of hands, how many knew their passing plan by 5 minutes into the game? Todd get your head out of your ^%$ and wakeup. Get those damn corners up to the line and hit those receivers. Yes, you will get burned sometimes. I wouls rather get burned sometimes than ALL THE TIME

  14. Leighroy Says:

Yeah, the real story line is that luxurious mane.

America tunes in for QBs. Football is played by teams. Canā€™t fault Arians but heā€™s speaking out some wishful thinking.

  15. Greg G Says:

Rare is the day that Pete says something and I find myself instantly agreeing. But, yeah. When is it time for us to have a conversation about the refs this year? It’s been rough! By my count I think the refs have taken at least 14 points off the board and probably cost us a shot at 21 more.

Maybe it’s just because we get penalized so much, that whenever these bad calls happen they seem to be far more egregious. But almost every yard NE earned on that last drive was gifted to them by bad calls. It’s frustrating to watch.

Also, it’d be cool if we dropped the ball a few less times moving forward…just sayin’

… well, I’m going to add something:

  17. SeƱor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

“…So Brady returning to New England not only didnā€™t mean a dang thing to Joe.”

Not buying that one Joe. I agree fully the game was ridiculously over-hyped. But as you always point out, we love drama, including you I am sure. Fans connect to our players. I know for me, I very much wanted Brady to come out on top, not just because he is a Buc, but for retaliation for how TB wants to “show” Belicheat what he missed out on, AND “you are going with that MFer?!” lol,

I think TB was referring to the Pats… kidding, but sounds fun

  18. GOATWatcher Says:

I see So Joe is just a flat out Patriots hater. Understandable if you’re a Tampa Bay fan. Crying “cheater” is a losers consolation prize. Now magically he’s the biggest Brady homer out there. Patriots were historically great because of discipline. Every team”cheats.” Remember Jerry Rice using stickum? Don’t be a loser Joe. Drop the “cheater” BS

..or maybe our TV šŸ¤” HC, the only thing he does on side lines is shouting @ them like a fool, trying to use all vocabulary’s words to show his toughness…
Ref are having fun with him, and damaging the team.. just a thought

  20. alton d green Says:

One thing that TOTALLY blew me away was how many third downs we had. MY GOD BL, make a freakn adjustment. Yes, Lenny had a fair night but when you are that damn predictable, you’re flirting with losing. The Pats rarely had a 3rd down. They only needed one down, sometimes 2. I have looked at our schedule and I said from the start that the 2 losses would be LA and the Pats. After the secondary’s performance, i have to go back and re-think it. Injuries? Don’t even go there. they’re all professional athletes. They just need a freak’n DC

  21. Destinjohnny Says:

Iā€™m sure it will be the same when Winston comes backā€¦.

  22. alton d green Says:

I have really been concerned that this “soap opera” BS about Brady would affect the team and certainly the coach. Bruce GROW UP!!!!! You have the goat. Stop being a boss or a foreman. Those 2 passes in the endzone when all we needed was 8 yds caused me to talk about everybody’s mother

  23. LakelandSteve Says:

Not sure what game you were watching Alton but if the Bucs had not ran the ball and stick with the run as well as we did this would have been an L for sure. Brady couldnā€™t seem to hit wide open receivers in the first half and we had at least 3 huge drops in the second half by our receivers. Running the ball was the only way they win that game. May have been the first time all year we won time of possession battle and we ran about 20 more plays than they did. With our banged up geriatric secondary I donā€™t know if they could have held up had it been reversed.

  24. Pruritus Ani Says:

I think Chris Collingsworth wants to marry Mac Jones.

  25. Devin DiPalma Says:

Crazybucs_clā€¦.we get it you donā€™t like our coaches. Thanks. Not sure what your problem is with them but our players love them and we won a super bowl with them. In case you havenā€™t noticed no one on here seems to agree with you.

  26. Steven007 Says:

Whether we won by three or 45 that win looks suspiciously the same in the standings. In four weeks no one’s thinking about this game. Way over hyped but understandable. We once again didn’t play anywhere near our best game but won against a viable opponent. We can nitpick all day but I’m not complaining about a w. Started slow last year, hopefully the offense gels fully soon. Running game was not fair it was good. Even rojo had a nice run on that touchdown. Fournette caught the ball well last night. Should have won by double digits of everything went well. And yes, the officiating was horrible.

  27. Perimeter Blocker Says:

Nice to have a kicker and a QB that do not commit turnovers. Give Succop the game ball!

  28. FortMyersDave Says:

I agree with LakelandSteve. By pounding the rock, the Bucs limited the number of times that the Pats could get the ball and thus limit the number of times Mac Jones could find a busted coverage and make a big play like most QBs would against the secondary. The Bucs won ugly and in the standings that is as good as a 40-0 blowout win. I know it sure beats a loss on national TV like the Bucs did last year in Chicago when Brady did not bring his A game and the Bucs had a frustrating loss that brought out the “doom and gloomers” along with the trolls. Yeah the Bucs have issues but every team is going to have bumps in the road this season, last week everyone thought the NFC Championship was going to be in LA but now everyone thinks its going through Arizona (until they stub their toe along the way) after the Cards blew the doors off of the Rams. Its a long season, for now a win is a win, in December it will not matter how the Bucs got it but it can make the difference dpwn the road.

  29. Hodad Says:

We won a tough game on the road. The Saints lost their home coming to a win less Giant team missing two receivers. The Rams who thought they won the SB last week got spanked at home by a division rival. That’s the NFL folks. If you don’t understand all that goes into winning, or losing these games you’re watching the wrong sport.

  30. Listnfrmafar Says:

He is jealous because Belichick vs Arians/Leftwich, McDaniels vs Bowles not much of a story, NO comparison.

  31. alton d green Says:

Bruce, ease up on the goat. without him there is a real possibility we could be 0-4

  32. Mike C Says:

I am just glad I don’t have to hear about how Joe didn’t care about the story line anymore…..

  33. orlbucfan Says:

Sure hope Bucs will win the division. Now, I heel a bit more optimistic.

  34. 8l3bucboi Says:

BS Arians be mad, because story not about him!

    go bucs!

  35. Architek Says:

    NFL refs are trash!

  36. 163doubleplay Says:

I’m happy the Bucs are 3-1 and on top of our division. But this type of winning is unsustainable. Go BUCS!!!

  37. Kentucky Buc Says:

After the game comments wouldā€™ve been a good time to show some class.

  38. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

We got screwed by the Refs on several calls, and barely won that game.
But a win is a win, and I’ll take it.
Yes, Arizona looks unbeatable, thank God they are not on our schedule.

  39. Infomeplease Says:

The BUCS won a tough road game with a lot of key starters not playing due to injury. They got the running game going and the defense played way better, got pressure, sacks, turnovers, and key stops. RS made his field goal to get the win! Great Team Victory!!

  40. stpetebucsfan Says:

The best player on the field last night was Matt Judon! The Pats have a solid secondary.

Our only loss was on the road to a 3-1 Rams team. Our victory over the Cowboys looks even better now that the ‘Boys are 3-1.

We’ve only had one easy opponent…the Falcons at RayJay.

Does anybody want to wager the Pats turn it around and finish with a winning record?

The only thing that tempers my belief that the Pats will emerge as a solid team is the fact that out of seven seasons without Brady..BB is 1-6!

He’s still a great DC and now he has a good QB with a solid OC. The Pats will be back and we’re lucky to get out of Foxboro and the monsoon with the W.

Why all the griping here this morning? We are tied with the Panthers for first place a game ahead of the Saints.

  41. firethecannons Says:

cannot imagine the Patriot defensive backs listening to anything Steve Belichick says Honestly he may have a medical condition of some sort but in between Chris Collingworth rambling on about the greatness of Mac Jones and Steve Belichicks facial expressions and the insensible Byron leftwich play calls-I thought it would be time for the off button. Thank God we prevailed. My husband and kids wonder why I watch football as I never seem to enjoy it.

  42. Listnfrmafar Says:

Arizona runs and throws deep, Bucs not a.good match up for them.

  43. BucsCoolade Says:

Good game.. decided by a few inches.. kinda funny hearing Brady after saying he might go back there.. joebucs must feel cheated on when he said that.. lol.

Brady BB chatting after in private .. aww..

  44. gotbbucs Says:

    @stpete
Judon played well, but let’s also consider who he was going against. Donny Smith has a tendency to make scrubs look like super stars.

  45. RustyRhinos Says:

    Really Joe’s?

We watched and read time and time again, about “Mr. entertainment and the value of Americas QB” for five very long seasons, and on into his sixth and seventh season on another team still, we read about ” Mr. Entertainment “.
Here you say “Joe didnā€™t get caught up in much hype because Joe didnā€™t give a damn about the storyline.” But punching those post tickets on that nonstop “Mr. Entertainment, America’s QB” train, had you all caught up? We now have a Multi Superbowl Winning MVP QB as our QB and you weren’t caught up in the hype, because Joe didn’t care about the storyline…? What changed?

We know you surely were and are still wrapped up in the “Mr. Entertainment, Americas QB” storyline. Yet the G.O.A.T. QB in the NFL Tom Brady who passed Brees for the most yards ever in the NFL in this game, against a coach he has won and lost several Super Bowls with. A coach Brady has gone up against season after season after season in practice, yet never against him in an NFL game. This storyline has no interest or causes any “Tingly Itch” like you say you had while watching “Mr. Entertainment, Americas QB” back when he was still playing in the ACC, Really?

Are y’all not feeling well Joe’s? You guys may want to check out the help that some of your sponsors at C4MH provide. To get your Groove back…

We watched a tough game we Won YES!, against a different conference team that has been at the top of the NFL for many seasons. A team we held to -1 yard rushing. We are now 3-1! Tied for first place in the NFC South Division with the Panthers. Bring on the Dolphins!!
    Go Bucs!!!

  46. MikeRalstott Says:

Little Chucky was the most entertaining part. He should be the medicated one.
