“Best Vision”

October 26th, 2021

Rising stock

The man they call “Sneak” has caught the eye of the man in charge of playing him.

Second-year running back Ke’Shawn “Sneak” Vaughn got his first carries of the regular season on Sunday against the Bears. It was garbage time. The Bucs were playing their backup offensive linemen and the Bears were keying on the run. And Sneak got the job done — 5 carries for 27 yards on the final Tampa Bay drive.

“[Vaughn] might have the best vision of all our backs, picking and sliding,” Arians said tonight on his team-sanctioned, sponsor-laden radio broadcast.

Arians liked the production and his tone was extremely upbeat.

Joe’s happy for Sneak. It’s easy to root for him, especially after Leonard Fournette’s heartfelt endorsement of the young man’s grind.

Let’s face it, Gioviani is not doing much right now. 1 TD in 7 games? Give this kid a try. How much could you be losing?

  2. D-Rok Says:

Either Gio might be washed up, which is possible given his production thus far; however, it might be possible the Bucs just haven’t figured out how to use this guy yet. If he’s still a good player, watch for him in the playoffs. Might be a secret weapon, who knows? Seen stranger things….

    GO BUCS!!! 🙂

  3. D-Rok Says:

    Holmes,
Let’s face it: Fournette and RoJo. 1/2 sometimes interchangeable. Gio seems like a work-in-progress but his past indicates he’s a player. Vaughn shows a bunch of talent, and might need some time before he adjusts to the pro game…maybe next year?

However, as a fan of football and an ex-player, I could not be more excited and confident of this RB room. An amoebae can morph itself into many forms depending on its environment, and that’s what I call this RB room: An amoebae. We have all bases covered for virtually any game-plan with these guys. I’m excited!!!

    GO BUCS!!! 🙂

  4. Killian Says:

Trade ROJO and let Vaughn eat.

  5. Listnfrmafar Says:

I am surprised they haven’t used Gio more, he was great in Atlanta game I think that was the one, he banged up his knee and he’s been pretty much invisible since then. Doesn’t seem BA is tolerant for mistakes, Stinnie got in for a few plays went offsides or held and was pulled immediately. Nice to see Vaughn, looked shifty but unfortunately no room for him now.

  6. Cainishere Says:

Gio will be very important to the team down the stretch. Vaughn is fumble prone. Damaged goods my friends. If you rely on Vaughn you are asking for a serious costly mistake. The Buccaneers were wise to use him when it did not matter. Not down on Vaughn as you may think. A few more fumbles with 0 real production and his stock will be shot.

  7. Bobby M. Says:

Vaughn is a solid back up but I don’t know that it translates to the same level of production as a full time starter. I think the Bucs are strategically being smart with Bernard….its a long season and when have we needed him? Keep your cards close to your chest until he’s needed or the playoffs.“

  8. Craig Says:

RoJo will not get an extension of his contract next season, so the Bucs should see if a trade is available.

If they keep him, he will be worthless when he becomes a free agent. If he is traded now, there might be some redeeming value, like a warm bodied DB.

The sneak will be around to spell Lenny and that will be fine, if Vaughn ever gets into a rhythm, watch out.

  9. Miller5252 Says:

With the schedule the Bucs have coming up “Sneak” should get a lot of playing time. Bucs would be crazy to pay Rojo next year because his mental problems seem like they will continue to follow him year after year. With all these crappy teams we’ll be playing, let’s keep Forney on the bench and healthy and let Sneak take the load and see where he takes us. Let’s Go Bucs!

  10. geno711 Says:

Cornerbacks are more valuable then 2nd string running backs in this passing NFL.
With Rojo a free agent and no team needing a running back for a playoff stretch right now, not sure why anyone thinks we can get anything other than a 6th round pick for him.

And certainly for us this year, Rojo is worth that 6th round pick should Lenny be out for any games because of injury.

  11. Medicated Pete Says:

Keep all the RB’s and Gio will be a blessing later in the season

  12. Listnfrmafar Says:

Lenny runs hard and going to need Rojo and Vaughn barring a Lenny injury. Gio is also a safety valve if Lenny gets hurt, Rojo and Vaughn have shown they aren’t reliable as a receiver.

  13. Greg Says:

I believe all can agree that Rojo is not going to get an extension but it is a long season and one unfortunate injury would change the dynamics in a hurry. No trade!

  14. SB~LV Says:

    KV part 2
Obviously he has flashed in practice but could not handle the NFL game day pressure. He was sent back to the practice field and hopefully now ready to bust on the scene. He does have running skills neither Lenny or RoJo have. Gio is a old war horse that needs to be healthy to play is role. He has taken a ton of punishment playing football all his adult life and old injured spots get dinged again and linger

  15. Doctor Stroud Says:

Gio mainly lines up on third down, and everyone in the stadium knows that the short/screen pass is going to him. They’ll need to clean that up before the playoffs. I think that he is an underrated runner.

  16. Reddington Neck Shores Says:

If the RB room was as thin as the DB room we would all be grateful. Dudes get hurt it’s the game. Vaughn had vision made gaps appear that’s good. Stop boasting about next years contract stack the deck for this year. No matter what right now we got a back with instincts who isn’t hurt. We may need that desperately in January. Fumbles can be fixed – tiki barber

  17. Colonel Angus Says:

Vaughn has 1 fumble with 1 lost. Last year vs Bears. A questionable call on a “reception”. Think he may have had one in preseason, can’t recall.

  18. SOEbuc Says:

Vaughn is a solid number two RB next year for a passing team with no money.

  19. Winny Testaverde Says:

Vaughn fumbled in the playoff game vs WFT making the outcome tighter than it needed to be. He’s good depth vs the days of Greg The Great Lumpkin.

  20. Tackleblockwin Says:

IF Brady retires after this season, Lenny may test the market.

  21. Lokog Says:

Reminds me of a more muscular Pontiac Williams

  22. adam from ny Says:

    no trades ya mofos…!

this is the makings of a championship running back room…

all the pieces are there as needed, as situations arise…

and situations arise because the nfl landscape changes weekly…

    be coo foo…

as juan lennon said, “let it be”

  23. Coburn Says:

Doxtor storud basically opposite problem Rojo has. Almost every time he comes in you know they are running. I feel they were a little less obvious against the beara. I do think Gio can still run the ball and will need to in order to keep defense honest

  24. Stanglassman Says:

2 TDs in 5 games. Not a big deal but he paid a price on both those TDs and thought it should be correct.

  25. SB~LV Says:

The running game still needs to have a statement game!

  26. Listnfrmafar Says:

Winny, Godwin dropped four passes in WFT playoff game, he still plays.

  27. DingleBerry Says:

Gio not doing much? Look at the snap counts. He barely gets on the field. Can’t blame a player for not producing when they are getting used like they should be.

  28. DingleBerry Says:

    @Listnfrmafar

Godwin also has the best catch% and lowest drop% of all the receivers on our team and has consistently shown he has some of the best hands in the league. That game was a fluke.

Mike Evans is amazing and mostly all Bucs fans favorite player and he drops the ball far more frequently than Godwin.
