“Toughest Call:” Peter King Says Rams Bounce Bucs In NFC Title Game

September 6th, 2021

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

One guy with an uncanny knack of accuracy with the past four Super Bowls believes the magic carpet ride the Bucs are on falls apart in Tampa in late January.

In other words, the Bucs will lose the NFC championship game at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway. And for the second straight season, a team will win the Super Bowl playing in its home stadium.

That’s the word from almond milk-sipping, hot-dog-eating-contest-protesting, mock-draft-scowlingL.L.-Bean-wearingtennis fans’ advocate, Second Amendment abolitionistMike-Florio-arguingparrot-insensitivechewing-with-his-mouth-opensoup-gulpingCalifornia-train-romancinganti-football proliferationouthouse-admiringairline-nappingsteerage-flyingYogi Berra-worshipingurinal-picture-takingvideo-game-playingTaylor-Swift-listeningpickpocket-thwartingBucs-uniform-frowningAllie-LaForce-smittenBig-Ten-Network-hatingpedestrian-bumpingolive oil-lappingpopcorn-munchingcoffee-slurpingfried-chicken-eatingoatmeal-lovingcircle-jerking, craft-beer-chugging, cricket-watchingscone-loathingcollege football-naïvebaseball-box-score-readingNPR-honkfilthy-hotel-stayingfight-instigatingbarista-trainingBudweiser-tolerantbaseball-scorecard-keeping, pasta-feasting, vomit-dodging scrooge, Kay-Adams-following, Coors-Light-souring, pineapple-upside-down-cake-eating social activist and NFL insider Peter King of NBC Sports.

King has gotten at least one conference champion correct in the past four years predicting the Super Bowl combatants. Once he got both conference champions correct.

Yes, last year King predicted the Bucs would face the Crows in the Super Bowl. The Bucs instead trounced the Chiefs.

King has a hunch that this is the Rams’ year, as he explains in his Football Morning in America column.

It seems King wrestled with his choice of the NFC winner.

Toughest call: not picking Tampa in the NFC. I can’t tell you what I don’t like about Tampa Bay, because there’s not much to quibble with about the ’21 Bucs. It’s a better team, assuming all minds are right, than the ’20 Bucs, winners of the Super Bowl by 22 points. As I’ll make clear, this is more about liking the Rams than disliking the Bucs. I will not be remotely surprised if the Bucs make it back to a second straight Super Bowl. I get the primary reasons—every significant player returns, Tom Brady’s back, Brady’s not going to let complacency ooze in, and Brady’s so freaky he’s not going to hit the age wall at 44—but there’s another one. Edge-rusher Shaq Barrett says lots of guys on defense want their 15 minutes of greatness too. Even after playing great in the Super Bowl, Barrett told me this summer, “I left too many plays on the field. If I make those plays, I’m Super Bowl MVP. Our hunger actually is coming from the fact we know everybody’s back. We all want to find a way to get on the field so our guys are gonna come out here and show it every day so they can carve a role out on the offense and defense for themselves. Coach [Bruce Arians] is like, ‘You can’t come to the field if you ain’t hungry and ready to go to prove yourself every day.’ “ Sure sounds good.

King predicted that The Sickness will somehow help derail the Bucs’ goal of repeating. King cited Hillsborough County’s infection numbers compared to Erie County, N.Y,. where Buffalo is located, as the root of his hunch.

So King knows these numbers will be consistent through February?

If King is this much of a visionary, Joe would much prefer the winning Powerball numbers over The Sickness ata and just take his chances dodging The Sickness.

Yeah, the Rams have a lot more question marks than the Bucs. They lost their best running back for the year. And is Matt Stafford a Super Bowl quarterback? Joe prefers Tom Brady over Stafford any day.

But to be fair, if Sean McVay can come within 11 points of a Super Bowl win with Jared Goff, guess it stands to reason he has a shot at beating the Bucs in an NFC title game with Stafford.

An NFC title game in Tampa? How cool would that be? Hasn’t happened in a long, long time.

  1. Winny Testaverde Says:

Just wrapped up his lanky column…he’s an insider…a bit of a tulip…but produces good content when he’s not being political.

Rams beat the Bucs in Tampa with Goff last year. They added former Bucs DeSean Jackson ( may be too fragile now ) and Raheem The Dream to coach the defense. The Rams may be the biggest obstacle in getting back to the Super Bowl.

  2. View from 132 Says:

    Peter King is completely overrated.

  3. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Rams are damn good. However, they’ll have to make it through a very tough NFC west schedule. If it’s an NFC title game in Tampa? I’m taking the Bucs.

  4. Scooter Says:

Peter King played baseball, soccer, basketball in high school but no football. No personal football game experience to draw from. Matthew Stafford with the Detroit Lions had 8 wins– 67 losses against teams that finished the regular season with a winning record.

  5. SlyPirate Says:

Stafford is 0-3 in the playoffs. Only 3 games. 0 wins.

Let’s see him win 1 playoff game before talking NFC Championship.

  6. Rod Munch Says:

King is a complete and total d-bag.

However the Rams are the team I’d least likely want to face in the NFC Championship game.

Need I remind you the Bucs are 0-2 vs the Rams in the NFC Championship game, including the biggest BS call of all time, the Bert Emanuel catch that has lead to now decades of the NFL not knowing what a catch is.

If it comes down the NFL putting the Rams, in their home stadium, for the SB – over Tampa, guess which way the refs are going to call the game. Even with Brady on the team, the NFL is going to want the Rams playing in their owner paid for $2.5b stadium.

The other team would be the Vikings. Their defense should be much better and they racked up over 160 yards rushing on our vaunted defense — and they can pass. They’d be a tough matchup.

Also if the Bucs had to go on the road to Seattle, I’d hate that.

Oh, and the stupid Giants. You don’t want Brady playing the Giants in the playoffs.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

Ladies, the NFL is a team sport. Stafford isn’t the reason the Lions lost in the playoffs, it’s the reason they got there in the first place.

A gunslinger like Stafford can carry a mediocre team only so far before he’s outgunned when playing better teams. I’m not saying he’s a SB caliber QB, but to dismiss him because he’s played on middling teams is pretty dumb.

It’s remarkable how some people just don’t get it.

  8. BradyBucs Says:

    In Sports Betting news…

If you’re able to place a legal bet before Thursday…

Caesars Sportsbook has a futures bet available on Bucs winning the NFC South at -200. That sure seems like an easy win. -200 as in your bet $100 and win $50 (plus your $100 back).

  9. webster Says:

@ rod most of these fans are dumb. Thats why they judge ONE player for wins or losses. Thats why u have one idiot poster point out that king played soccer, basketball, baseball but because he didnt play football his opinion should not be taken seriously as if this man whos entire life has been dedicated to sports and most of his professional life has been dedicated to football opinon’s are bs. Im willing to bet that same poster has never been as plugged in to sports ie football as peter king. This poster will tell u not to listen to peter king, but listen to him. I mean how dumb can you be? I mean i cant sing but i damn sure know aretha franklin, whitney houston, luther vandross, mariah carrey can sing better than said plug in autotune artist here. Fans like him feel as though if u played pro football but u did not make a pro bowl or win a superbowl then we should disregard the opinion but listen to the random jbf poster. Smdh. Btw….the rams on paper is a contender. Picking up shoney michelle helps with the lost of akers

  10. Youngbucs Says:

Rod and Webster give it a rest with the blaming 1 player nonsense. The only people who have been proven dumb around here are you guys. And a few others but carry on please.

  11. Youngbucs Says:

We all no it’s a team sport it’s levels to playing QB! When you guys except that the better off you will be.

  12. adam from ny Says:

just remember, king has been a subtle bucs detractor for many years…

    he’s no chris berman, that’s for sure…

and he is definitely “tip-toeing thru the tulips” with his prognostication…

  13. Alan Collingwood Says:

Gotta love end-of-January predictions with over FOUR MONTHS of football to be played! Stick to week-by-week, like coaches and players do

  14. Defense Rules Says:

@Rod … “Need I remind you the Bucs are 0-2 vs the Rams in the NFC Championship game”.

Castigating others for analyses you take issue with (aka ‘King is a complete and total d-bag’) invites others to view you in the same light. Do you really believe that there’s ANY connection between what happened many years ago to what will occur this year? Obviously very much different teams.

Yes it is “remarkable how some people just don’t get it.”

  15. Medicated Pete Says:

People are picking against the Bucs b/c they’re tired of hearing about them every single day since TB12 got here. I’ve NEVER seen a team so heavily covered in my life. Non die hard fans must be sick of this team. I love it

  16. adam from ny Says:

imagine not being a bucs fan and having to listen to bucs talk all day everyday on sports talk shows…

all they do is talk bucs – lol it’s so crazy…

this upcoming game is the old america’s team (cowboys) vs.
    the new america’s team (bucs)…

it’s the battle to be anointed the “2021 america’s team”…

as long as tom is a buc, we are the new america’s team…

    joe peep this ^^^

  17. Jdub94 Says:

Oh no you don’t. After the lost we took from them last year. We owe them one!!!

  18. August 1976 Buc Says:

Back in High School it was miserable watching an inept Buc offense lose 9-0 loss in the NFC Championship game to the Rams in Jan 1980.

Then the Bucs again with an inept offense lost again to the Rams in the 99 NFC Championship game season.

These 2 losses have nothing to do with the 2021 season

It is not going to happen again this season.

The only reason the Bucs do not at least make the Super Bowl is injuries.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  19. mg Says:

    Matthew Stafford – lmmfaolotf

  20. Kalind Says:

The north will get walloped in the winter. And the south will be fine. Just like last year

  21. Peter Says:

    @Alan Collingwood.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I am so f-ing sick of people making predictions for four months from now when we haven’t even had the first snap of the real season. Clickbait clickbait clickbait. Peter King can kiss my ass.

  22. David Says:

On one hand I think this team has a chance to be historically good… One of the highest scoring Offenses and a Defense giving up fewer than 17 a game, which is great in today’s high scoring NFL.

On the other hand I am cautiously optimistic because they sneaked out some wins last year, there are areas they need to improve, & the Packers and the Rams are going to be damn good.

  23. Pine Hills Says:

If King wants to see something bounce I can show him something bouncing, but it won’t be the Bucs.

  24. Hodad Says:

We have an absolute iron man at QB. Stafford is a China doll. He won’t make it through the season yet again! Mark it down, 49ers win division, Stafford is on IR by week 10, Rams go no where.

  25. Bird Says:

For rams , stafford has to stay healthy. He has been injured and on a bad team for years. But lets be honest , rams are in a tough division. None of those teams play soft. So can stafford last cause he sure can fling it

They scare me the most. Great young coach too

Im glad we play them in LA
I want to see their best and how it measures up to our team

  26. DaBux Says:

Keep piling the lumber on TB12’s fire and it’s only going to burn hotter.

  27. gp Says:

Our week three match-up with the Rams will give a “better” indication of what a future match-up might bring.
Of course, with roughly 3 months of physical games between the first and hypothetical second meeting, much can change.
My fan based bias towards the Buc’s is almost as accurate of a predictor considering all of the possible variables.
Predicting an outcome that far away is even more dicey than an exact prediction of the weather a week out, let alone three months out(or thirty years smh).
    The real question is…
Why is the last week, before the kick-off of the season, the longest of the year?
    Isn’t it game time yet?!?!!!

  28. mark2001 Says:

I see calls like this more strategic than logical. I see the strategy of guys like this calling for the Rams and the Packers, rather than looking at the team and allowing logic to win the day. Predict the Bucs and you are just another in a long list of prognosticators. Bucs win, and you say you were just trying to pick someone different to shake things up. You end up correct, for some odd reason, and you look like a football guru.

  29. BillyBucoff Says:

Matthew Stafford is a hell of a QB but to say he made the Lions is bunk.
He was only excellent with Megatron despite the NUMEROUS 1st round WRs they picked. They picked a different round 1 WR every year for a while.

Bowles will eat his lunch watch.
We get to see what they are about in a revenge game for Tampa but in 3 weeks.

Then we can decide if they can beat us At Home, when it matters most.

  30. BillyBucoff Says:

I wish I could post a picture of the stat line from 2018 when Stafford played Bowles.
Final score was 48-17 Jets and Stafford threw 4 interceptions, one pick six.

I cant wait to play the Rams with Stafford now.

  31. BillyBucoff Says:

This was the only time Stafford faced Bowles

  32. mark2001 Says:

Billy.. good point. I remember seeing Rodgers and the Packers beat Stafford in big games time after time, in years where Detroit had some good teams. Until he shows he can take a good team in a big game, and put it on his shoulders and beat a good team, I will have my doubts.

  33. Wayne Perez Says:

Stafford won’t make it through the year

  34. SOEbuc Says:

We gotta show so much love to the haters and doubters. Watching Skip and Shannon the other day and they both hit the nail on the head about Brady’s mindset.

Haters and non believers: “Brady can’t do it.”

    Brady:”Oh yeah, watch this.”

  35. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    Sean McVay is over rated.

Bill Bellicheck figured out his offense and completely shut him down.

Bellicheck didn’t shut down Andy Reid in the Super Bowl like Todd Bowles did.

Sean Peyton and Andy Reid are vastly superior Head Coaches to Sean McVay, as well as Super Bowl winning ahead Coaches and former coordinators. Todd Bowles shut down both of them in the playoffs after losing to both teams the first time around last year. The Rams would have been no different.

Todd Bowles figured out how to best use our defensive pieces by the end of our season. Our defense is what lead us to the championship. Oh, and with the addition of Tyron to the DLINE of JPP, Shaq, Vea and Suh, our defense just got scarier.

Our Bucs defense caused Aaron Rodgers to throw a critical interception and harassed him all game, sacking him 5 times. On the Goal Line stand JPP chasing Rodgers and Devin White who was in front of Rodgers scared Aaron Rodgers, causing him to throw it instead of trying to beat both of them. Aaron Rodgers is vastly superior to Stafford at the QB position and is far more elusive than Stafford. Aaron Jones is a vastly superior back to Sony and Davante Adam’s is greater than Woods and Cupp combined.

Our Bucs defense retired Drew Brees who threw 3 INTs to us.

Todd Bowles just shut down League MVP and Super Bowl MVP Pat Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Tyrek Hill to zero touchdowns in the Super Bowl.

Stafford is a vastly inferior QB when comparing him to Mahomes.

The Cheetah is superior to Woods.

Kelce is superior to Krupp/Higbee when lined up in the slot or tight.

Stafford, with a chronically injured back is a risky improvement from Jared Goff.

Arians is a Super Bowl Winning Head Coach as well as a Super Bowl winning OC. What championships has McVay won?

Fun Fact. Do you know how many times Donald and Suh lead DLINE sacked Brady in the Super Bowl where the Patriots owned the Rams? If you said zero you are correct.

King’s analysis is wrong, plain and simple.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  36. James Allen Lofton Says:

Remember as the season went deeper last year, the better the Bucs performed. The Bucs never peaked last year and as the 2021 progresses the Bucs continuity will only get better culminating in a Super Bowl win.

I have a feeling that Tom Brady’s goal to win more Super BLOWS will put him on a plateau that will never be equaled.

  37. Alanbucsfan Says:

I stopped trusting Stafford after the Lions blew a 20-7 3rd quarter lead vs Cowboys in 2014 playoff game. He had Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush and Golden Tate among others as weapons, yet only scored 3 points the whole 2nd half . The game ended with him getting sacked and fumbling – until he proves otherwise- he’s another TonyRomo/Philip Rivers.

  38. Oneilbuc Says:

Youngbucs it’s not levels playing quarterback in the NFL. It’s about the team , coaching and the playbook. If you go to a team that’s not good and the coaching is bad along with the playbook you know that no risk it no biscuit offense you ain’t winning nothing. Even Brady had 8 interceptions in 3 games because of that no risk it no biscuit offense. And then they change the offense to a Brady offense and they played good. Watch what Bill Belichick do with Mac Jones !!!

  39. Jerry Says:

Thing is, there are more question marks with the Rams than the Bucs at this point. We don’t know that simply adding Stafford makes the Rams any better. Stafford has a knack for blowing it in big games when the pressure is on. He’s also struggled with injuries lately. We don’t know exactly how well he and McVay are going to mesh.

Stafford has also not won anything. Yes, Detroit is a crappy franchise. But there were some years Stafford was there where they had a good team. And he couldn’t get the team to the next level. He lacked the ability to take control of a game.

It’s also very difficult to do what Brady did by coming to a new team and winning a super bowl in year one. That almost never happens in this league. And Stafford is not Brady. He’s not Peyton Manning or Brett Favre. For the Rams to win the Super Bowl this year, a lot has to go right for them, and Stafford needs to have a career season. The NFC West is also a crowded division. The 49ers won’t be pushovers and neither will Seattle. So the Rams have a harder trek to the Super Bowl than the Bucs do.

  40. Marine Buc Says:

“King predicted that The Sickness will somehow help derail the Bucs’ goal of repeating. King cited Hillsborough County’s infection numbers compared to Erie County, N.Y,. where Buffalo is located, as the root of his hunch.”

How is this possible? The Bucs are 100% vaccinated. Players, coaches and staff.

Peter doesn’t think Covid will still exist is LA? One if the nastiest, dirtiest cities in the US?

    CLOWN WORLD!!!

    LOL!!!!

  41. mark2001 Says:

Oneill… Brady had knee problems with his plant leg last year…correct? I have been saying, even late last season, that I wondered if Brady had some physical issues. Had no idea that it was the knee, but something just didn’t look Brady like on some of those passes. I think it wasn’t the “no risk it, no biscuit offense”. After all, Brady always had the option to audible out of a play if he didn’t like the idea. But I understand that those looking to justify a certain QB’s miserable interception season two years ago, are grasping at that straw. I expect Brady, assuming he stays healthy, to cut his ints in half ..or maybe even better, now that he is healthy again.

  42. allbuccedup Says:

The 49ers will be the team the Bucs face in the championship game not the one and done Rams.

  43. buc15 Says:

Peter King has always been a salty ass BUCS hater

  44. webster Says:

No youngbuc you are the dumb one and you prove it EVERYDAY.

    @billybuc

When the lioms was taking wr every year, stafford was not the qb. That happened years ago when matt millen was the gm. And stafford had great statistical seasons after megatron rwtired

  45. PassingThru Says:

I don’t have a problem with Peter King’s prediction. He has a good track record, unlike say 98% of the talking heads out there. This isn’t a pseudo-analytics exercise like the horse excrement on ESPN, which is pure GIGO (garbage in, garbage out).

He’s basically saying that if the Bucs repeat it wouldn’t surprise him, as they’re likely a better team that last year. He’s just picking Buffalo because he feels the Bucs will lose games due to Covid positive test results. That isn’t unreasonable. And yes Joe, you’re grand standing once again by pretending that won’t be a factor. The season starts Thursday and Tampa Bay is a major hot spot. Buffalo isn’t. Given how diseases spread (it’s a time series) in all probability Tampa Bay will have a larger sustained peak period than Buffalo during the course of the season and postseason. King is simply stating that he expects more impact on Tampa Bay than Buffalo. He doesn’t have an idea of the impact, it might be a non-event; he is just making a guess.

That isn’t to say that Buffalo doesn’t get hit by a surge later. It is possible, especially if the citizens don’t exercise caution. One thing is in their favor: No one holds conventions up in Buffalo, it’s a frozen hell for much of football season. That isn’t true of Tampa Bay. And conventions are dangerous in terms of introducing a new population of people who interact in close quarters, which ultimately helps facilitate the spread to the resident community.

  46. Buczilla Says:

King isn’t worth commenting on, but I’m bored. I used to enjoy his work, but he is nothing but a buffoon now. Suck it King. 😛

  47. Oneilbuc Says:

Mark2001. Lol 😆🤣 every time someone brings up facts yall always bring up Jamies . Jamies play for the saints and it was a article just a few days ago saying they change the offense for Brady. Jamies also played hurt as well with a broken finger on the throwing hand plus with a torn legment in his knee . But Brady gets the excuse and Jamies don’t so it’s cool. But again the fact of the matter is the Bucs still haven’t developed a quarterback yet so I don’t blame Jamies or any other quarterback that this team drafted for not working out in Tampa!! If they developed Trask then yall can bash all the other quarterbacks and I will not say nothing. Yall got mad at Dilfer for saying his career would have been different if he would have gotten drafted by the Colts. And all you have do is look at the fruits they bare when it comes to the quarterback position in the history of the franchise !!!

  48. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I don’t see any way a team led by Matthew “glass” Stafford will get to a Super Bowl. Name me one meaningful win on Stafford’s resume. I can’t think of one.

  49. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs says watch what belichick do with Jones watch what jameis do with the saints. Anything to build an argument against brady. Belichick is a loser with out Brady he ain’t winning no Super Bowls and jameis definitely ain’t super bowl material. Watch how you make excuses when the stuff you spewing fails to happen. And by chance it does happen I’ll eat my crow unlike you because I’m real about mine!

  50. Scooter Says:

@ Passing Thru. I didn’t know Peter King was an Epidemiologist. What Medical School did he graduate from?

  51. Youngbucs Says:

Hey joes let my other comment go was it the curse word?

  52. Youngbucs Says:

There’s not levels to playing QB or any other position? Why is everyone not in the hall of fame? Why is everyone not getting paid the same? Why are teams constantly searching for the next star QB? Oneilbucs you create a new level of nonsense every day here.

  53. Oneilbuc Says:

Youngbucs . You don’t know superbowl material just like no one though Dilfer, Johnson, Foles, was super bowl material it’s all about the team. And I still believe Jamies will be a better quarterback under Payton!! I want to see if BA going to develop a quarterback for the first time in his career that’s what I won’t to see . And you just a Belichick hater so you are blind by your hate. Watch Belichick develop Mac Jones the same way he did Brady!!

  54. Youngbucs Says:

If there’s not levels to playing QB how come every Super Bowl has been won by a hall of fame QB. Or a future hof QB except like 3-5 times??????? Please explain oneilbucs!!!!!

  55. Youngbucs Says:

55 Super Bowls and only 3-5 times a hof QB or future hof QB has not won it.

  56. Oneilbuc Says:

Youngbucs. I hope he don’t put that trash comment up he shouldn’t allow curse words on his site. Just because you curse that don’t make you right are tough !!! You don’t have to curse to get your point across !!

  57. Oneilbuc Says:

Only foolish men use curse words to make a point !!!

  58. Jerry Says:

Buffalo has several unvaccinated players (ie: Beasely, McKenzie, etc). So COVID could hurt them more than it would hurt the Bucs. King seems to have forgotten that aspect. Seems King was more interested in getting a dig in on Florida politics rather than making a valid football point. Florida and Texas are the two most hated states by the political left wing.

  59. Oneilbuc Says:

Youngbucs . It’s been more than that go back in look in the 90s and 80s. Defense win championships go back and name 1 bad defense that won a superbowl. I can guarantee you will not find one superbowl won by a average defense. Football was about the team more than a quarterback back then. Now they promote the quarterback and give them the superbowl win . It’s unfortunate that a lot of yall have been robed of the truth for a lie when it comes to football now days from the media. That’s why football is water down now . I agree with Brady a 100% on what he said how the defense gets penalties for the offense mistakes. But at the same time it’s hipocrical because he benefited from it and he used to be the main one crying for a flag especially in those Baltimore games. But he’s right and I agree with him a 100% !!

  60. PassingThru Says:

    @Scooter

You don’t have to be an epidemiologist as I’m sure you know that most diseases spread using first order reactions within a time series framework:

    ln[A]sub t = -kt + ln[A]sub 0

Now some diseases do not proliferate in respect to first order reactions, but those models are also time series based, with first order partial derivatives (spread of disease with respect to time). Given that much of population is in a relatively early phase of delta variant infection, either model will tell you that the curve will be upper-sloping for both cities and that Tampa Bay has a higher rate that all things being equal, will likely have more infectious member of the population through something as short as a football season.

  61. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @oneilbucs

I’m not saying Jones is going to fail, but when you have offensive lineman, rbs, and wrs that are superior to most any team you play in college and who are drafted in the 1st & 2nd rounds of the NFL Draft predominately, then it’s easier to play QB for that team.

That’s what Jones, Tua, Hurts, Simms, McEllroy, and McCarron enjoyed at Alabama.

The NFL is not like playing college football at Alabama vs other college football teams.

Everybody in the NFL is an amazingly talented football player.

Of the above list of Alabama National Championship QB’s during the Nick Saban era, who would you say is elite in the NFL? Of that above list, 3 are starters. Of those three, Hurts and Tua are on the bubble of heading to the bench.

Alabama has an incredible track record during the Nick Saban era of producing non starting, clipboard holding 2nd string NFL QB’s.

As far as Jamie’s is concerned, he had 5 years to prove himself. That’s much longer than Tua and Hurts and Daniel Jones are being given. All of them are on the hot seat. It’s longer than Marriota, Manziel, Trubisky, Freeman, Bortles, etc… were given. Spare me your excuses about Jamies. This is the NFL. Win or its Not For Long.

  62. Snook Says:

Who says Stafford is an upgrade over Goff? Stafford’s never won anything in his life. I don’t even think the Rams make the playoffs. 49ers/Seahawks finish ahead of them.

  63. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs of course there’s more than that. Im going off the top of my head but I know if I check it im close. No more than 10 non hof QBs have won the super bowl. Including future hof QBs you can say what you want. Anyone without an agenda knows this is a QBs driven league. And we have the greatest cry more loser.

  64. Youngbucs Says:

By the way you don’t know what I said you’re not my dad🤡. Go preach to your kids keep teaching them to live in denial even when reality is slapping them in the face. And I’m talking football I know you be quick to toss race into what I’m saying.

  65. mark2001 Says:

Arians had a hand in developing Roethlisberger, Manning, Luck, and Palmer. James just isn’t franchise QB material. Five years ..how much money, time, effort and patience was given to this guy. He doesn’t have it. He might keep the seat warm until Payton can get Brees’s heir apparent, but that is about it. He just can’t read and react to defenses quick enough. And lacks accuracy.

  66. PassingThru Says:

    @Snook

It’s hard to argue that Detroit had as good of teams as the ones that surrounded Goff. To be frank, Goff isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. Once defensive coordinators realized that Goff couldn’t read defensive shifts, his production fell off the cliff.

Stafford is an upgrade. Barring injury, he’ll make the Rams a better regular season team. Will Stafford make them a better postseason team? Stafford is 0-3 in postseason play. In terms of postseasion play, the jury remains out.

  67. Oneilbuc Says:

Mark2001 . BA coached Payton Manning to a 100 picks . Then he got fired in Pittsburgh because of getting big Ben hit a lot . He got Luck hurt because I his no risk no biscuit offense. But to make a point about Jamies not developing in Tampa is crazy . Because no quarterback has developed in Tampa . And that’s why I don’t bash Jamies like yall do because ain’t no quarterback made it in Tampa. And that’s why people from other fan base laughs at yall 🤣 because they believe after Brady we will be back at the bottom. That’s why I tell yall stop living off other teams legendary players and trying to make them bucs for life because they not . When Brady makes his hall of fame speech he’s going to talk more about the Patriots than the bucs. He will be looked at like Lynch with the us are like Payton Manning with the Colts. That’s just the way it is!!

  68. ClodHopper Says:

On this one he is letting his politics and fake news cloud his judgement.

  69. Oneilbuc Says:

Now I’m going to enjoy this year just like I did last year. But I’m trying to get yall to at least consider the future and building our own legendary quarterback . That’s my movement on this site but enjoy this season because despite how yall feel about me I will be rooting for my bucs !!

  70. Scooter Says:

@ Webster “dictionary less”. It’s Sony Michel. Learn how to spell. Your texting some things I never said. You seem like someone who would select a marriage counselor who is single with no marriage experience over a married or divorced marriage counselor with marital experience.

  71. Youngbucs Says:

Clown your movement was for us to keep jameis. So we could keep spinning in circles while you blame the team. For him holding us back with barely average QB play beat it loser.

  72. Scooter Says:

@ Rod “Honey” Munch. Again Stafford has 8 wins–67 losses against teams that finished the regular season with a winning record. THE STATS don’t lie. As QB his hands touch the ball every offensive play. Can’t run from the truth, but you sure can spin from it.

  73. John Says:

why do people listen to peter king? hes an idiot.

  74. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Oneilbuc

    You are factually incorrect.

Bruce Arians coached the QB’s/Peyton Manning at Indianapolis. His last season two seasons coaching Peyton the Colts went 13-3 and 10-6 and made it to the playoffs.

Peyton talked and joked about this in his HOF speech that Bruce and Brady attended.

After the Colts he went to the Browns and as their OC with Butch Davis led them to the playoffs.

After Cleveland he was hired in Pittsburgh where he helped coach 2 Super Bowl Championship Teams as a WR Coach and then as the OC.

He then went to Indy and won a NFL Coach of the Year Award with Andrew Luck as he took them to the playoffs.

Bruce then went to Arizona won a NFL Coach of the Year Award with Carson Palmer as he took them to the playoffs.

Bruce then came to Tampa as our Head Coach and led our Bucs to their second ever Super Bowl Championship.

    Google is your friend.

Stop saying things that are factually incorrect oneilbuc.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  75. Scooter Says:

@ Passing thru. You fail to account for the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants being flown and mostly bussed to all the counties and states in mainland USA. None have gotten the Double Moderna or Double Pfizer vaccines. This is not a Laboratory experiment and there is no control group. if you could compute the square root of a bug’s ass, I might give your texting some validity.

  76. Youngbucs Says:

Belle he will trash anyone in the name of winston!

  77. Oneilbuc Says:

Lol 😆🤣 BA was the offensive carnator in Pittsburgh !! Again you keep talking about the Colts going 13 -3 back then doesn’t mean nothing because he was not the head coach. It still doesn’t change the fact that he helped coach Payton Manning to a 100 picks and actually Payton Manning had more turnovers than Jamies that’s facts . Again let’s see if he develops Trask and I hope he dose . Go bucs !!

  78. Oneilbuc Says:

Youngbucs. This team sucked doing those 5 years and I will stand by that all day long . When a quarterback knows that he has to score 30 points a game because the defense suck that will make it bad for any quarterback. I get it you going to blame Jamies for having a defense that’s been ranked last at every category in a defensesive stat . It’s been a proven fact that the defense has lost more games than the offense. How is it your offense is ranked top 5 for 4 years and your defense is ranked last and not to mention they were historically bad were they almost broke records. And yes you need to respect your elders with all that cursing . That’s the problem with you young folks you have no respect for older people !!!

  79. PassingThru Says:

    @Scooter

I never knew Buffalo was a hub for illegal aliens. You may wish to report this to INS, as the entry point for illegal aliens have predominantly the southern states rather than upstate New York. So let me guess: In your world view many illegal aliens escape Canada by swimming across Lake Erie or the Niagra River to Buffalo, making them known as “ice backs”.

    Comedy gold.

  80. mark2001 Says:

Paytons first year, he did have those picks. Of course, we didn’t see that five years into the pro ranks under Arians, as he was gone by then. So those stats are kind of like comparing apples to oranges,. a first year pro vs. a five years vet.

Regarding Trask… Comparing the number one pick in the draft to a second/third round pick is again kind of odd. I hope the guy clicks…. but we will see what his upside is. Hope he makes it,.

  81. mark2001 Says:

And you think Tom Moore would come to Tampa and work for Arians, if he didn’t respect him? Of course it was the other way around in Indy, where Arians worked for Moore. Such is the coaching business.

  82. Oneilbuc Says:

Youngbucs I don’t trash any one that’s what yall do !! Yall gets mad at any one that don’t hate are bash Jamies lol 😂😆 !! This roster is good from top to bottom but all yall see is Brady and no one else.

  83. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs stfu I’m dam near 40 and more common sense than you.

  84. Youngbucs Says:

You can’t say this team sucked and not acknowledge winston sucked. He was a major part of all the sucking. 2019 was the perfect example of that the team should’ve been in the playoffs. The QB held them back not the defense you can cherry pick gms all you want. Turnovers kill kill kill deny all you want. Winston played himself out of Tampa! He admitted it himself!

  85. Scooter Says:

@Passing thru Fantasyland. I never mentioned any border. Buses travel everywhere. You used the word Alien( like they’re from Outer Space ). I used the word “immigrant”. Your agenda has moved you off the topic of Peter King. He never played football and his comments and writings will always be missing the on the field experience. You should apologize to the Hispanics who reside in the frigid Northern states for your racial slur ” ice backs “.

  86. Joe Says:

You used the word Alien( like they’re from Outer Space ).

An “alien” is a legal term for any person or organization that is not native to a specific country.

  87. PassingThru Says:

    @Scooter

    Joe is correct.

But let’s get back to your unintentionally funny points. So you contend that Buffalo is some hotbed of illegal alien activity? Because of bus service no less?? And you think that since Peter King never played football he’s a terrible football journalist? Peter King is a bit full of himself, but give him his due: he’s one of the top football journalists in the country. Criticize his self-indulgent writing style all you want, but you’re exposing yourself as uninformed when you contend that someone’s credentials should solely be based on whether they played organized football.

I am being kind by classifying your remarks as silly. Someone else referred to your remarks as idiotic.

  88. Oneilbuc Says:

Youngbucs lol 😆😂🤣😅 love you bro !!!! Go bucs !!

  89. Oneilbuc Says:

Youngbucs. Are you my friend bro !!!

  90. geno711 Says:

A shoutout from me to Arians:

Throwing accuracy is the most important physical attribute. He thinks it’s easily identifiable on college tape and difficult to teach thereafter.
and an actual quote from his book:
“Tom Brady and Peyton Manning would never be described as fleet-of-foot speedsters,” Arians wrote. “But they can move a step or two and then be extremely accurate with their throws even if they aren’t perfectly balanced.”

and a later comment on the Rich Eisen show “My philosophy’s always been great collaboration with the quarterback, no matter who it’s been…”

I miss Macabee and here is his old shoutout for Arians:

Could we talk former Cardinals coach Bruce Charles Arians out of retirement? He’s healthy now and at 66 is 6 months younger than Bill Belichick. Just want everybody to know that I’m down wit old timers! Lol. The Bucs need an experienced coach that has been there and done that. Everywhere he’s gone he’s been able to turn that team around. NFL record as head coach is 50-32-1 (.608). He has proven expertise developing QBs – Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Andrew Luck, and Carson Palmer.

  91. Scooter Says:

@ Mr. Munch. In both Super Bowl losses to the Giants, Brady drove the length of the field and put the Patriots ahead with about 3min.30sec. left in the game. Belichick’s defense came up lame.
