Tom Brady On His Clutch Teammate Rob Gronkowski

September 10th, 2021

Tom Brady’s favorite target?

Joe is confident saying Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski have hooked up on so many passes that both could be blindfolded and Gronk could run a specific pattern and Brady would hit him in the numbers.

That synergy sure showed last night as Brady hit Gronk for two touchdowns and Gronk also had two clutch catches on the game-winning drive.

Brady just raved about his long-time teammate after the game.

“He’s had a great camp,” Brady said. “I knew he was going to have a great game tonight and be prepared. Obviously, we went to him there on the two-minute drive. He had a huge catch and run.

“He is just a great player, just a great attitude, great teammate – I think everyone in the locker room just loves that guy – watching him, being with him. And, on and off the field, he’s just an amazing guy.

“Everyone loves seeing guys like that successful. I’m just happy he’s loving what he’s doing and contributing to the team the way that he is. It was really fun to see tonight.”

It was fun for a lot of folks. Gronk sure looks like a different player. Last year he came to camp out of shape — Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians famously mocked Gronk by pulling him out of practice while hollering, “He’s in New England shape, he’s not in Florida shape.”

But as last season progressed, Gronk, who was retired for the 2019 season, just got better and better and that progression seems to have carried over.

Man, did he bail the Bucs out last night.

Didn’t see OJ or Brate last night……or TJ, Darden or Scotty….

    Gronk was a beast!!!

  2. LVMYBUCS Says:

Guys how are we gonna fix the secondary? I feel good about everything els on this Bucs team accept the secondary. I was screaming this last season we have one or two players in the secondary that shouldn’t even be on this team who got lucky last season. I have never seen a player like Dean look so lost as I did last night and before he got hurt dude was getting beat. WHY DIDNT WE UPGRADE THE SECONDARY THIS OFF SEASON WHY O WHY?

  3. 123urout Says:

As usual Brady-Gronk, the dynamic duo!! Thanks for choosing the BUCS….

  4. Medicated Pete Says:

    Tom’s pass catching depth chart:
    Gronk
    AB
    Godwin
    Gio Bernard
    Scooter
    #13

  5. Coburn Says:

Scotty made one nice grab that was returned due to penalty thought for sure he’d get a shot before end of first half there. Thought Brate would get a couple catches as well, but Gronk had it covered

  6. Gordon Brook Says:

Outstanding game between the Bucs and the Cowboys. Tom Brady was outstanding and played extremely well as Quarter Back. Some of the fumbles by the the Bucs hurt them but they still deserved to win.

  7. Brandon Jeff Says:

    @LVMYBUCS
I think we should have invested in a vet corner. I’m sure we could have found a way to make that happen.
I’ve seen a lot of posts lately saying that we should have picked a corner in the second round instead of a QB. I personally like Trask and see some similarities in him to Tom Brady. The opportunity to pick up a good, smart quarterback to learn under Tom Brady for a few years Is an ideal situation.
We picked up SMB in the second round a couple of years ago and we still only acquired an average cornerback. I think at the time, that Trask was the best move in the draft for the second round pick.

  8. LVMYBUCS Says:

    @Brandon Jeff
I agree but we have some serous issues in the secondary even though its week one.

  9. mark2001 Says:

tbbf… I think Darden wasn’t even active. He is a work in progress.

  10. Robert Says:

    glad Gronk was there!!!!!

the offense might have gotten more of a rythm if the secondary showed up. I like Dean, but they had his face all over the big screen and he looked scared. no wonder they kept after him. A lot of teams will do what the boys did now, but I have confidence our secondary and pass rush will show up.

the refs looked like they made some coin from the boys… sheeeeesh

  11. Biff Barker Says:

Brady always throws to the open man. Always.
Secondary got schooled, but the Cowboys offense did a great job.

  12. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Never put Scooter before Evans. Evans was quiet but still had 63 yards. Please people let go of the Scooter love. Yeah he is clutch but that’s it, he’s situational clutch. As long as Evans, Godwin, AB and Gronk are on the field he’s an afterthought. He’s likable but not instrumental.

This offense is in mid season form. The line pass blocked well, receivers got open and Tom showed he loves this offense. Run blocking its weak and rbs are a weak point catching the ball. Should’ve put Gio in sooner. Chris Simms talked about ROJO on the sideline and that’s telling, he’s gone after this season. Were going thru this again with him? At least Fournette bounced back after his gaff.

The defense needed this game at this time so they stop drinking their own juice. Not worried about them. They’re going to struggle but the offense will give them a chance to turn it around.

  13. Kobe Faker Says:

    “Great hands by Gronk

His receptions was the most important catches of the game”

    Kobe Faker

  14. JimmyJack Says:

Brady gets all of the credit for turning this team around. For the most point well deserved but I dont think theres anyway we win that title last year without Gronk.

Brady didnt change this team all alone. Gronk has been a huge part of it.

  15. Listnfrmafar Says:

I have watched Brady his entire career and don’t know but he maybe better than ever. Being g in New England we’ve been spoiled watching the Gronk/Brady combo for years. IMO benching Rojo for the rest of the game was not a good thing, Lenny’s dropped int was worse. I do like during clutch time Gio let us k ow why he is here. Other teams will need to scire over 30 points to beat Bucs.

  16. adam from ny Says:

gronk runs like a clydesdale once he gets rolling…

a lot of power in those legs as he smashes forward…

    he looked good out there

  17. Buc1987 Says:

I might of got something right for once when I said “I think Gronk’s going to blow up this season compared to last.”

  18. SufferingSince76 Says:

Any prospects for secondary help still out there?

  19. firethecannons Says:

    TB12, Gronk, AB and Succop
    Gronk was solid!
    We almost choked on W
The game is not one you save and rewatch during the offseason

  20. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Gronk’s just doing what Gronk do.

  21. TOM Says:

Two HOFer’s TB & Gronk had a great game.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

Gronk wasn’t out of shape last year, he had just packed on the muscle for his WWE title reign. He had to work that off to get his speed back.

  23. daniel Da Man Says:

    Oh my
Was saying last night…heart dont fail me now..what a game to enjoy. Thks BUCCANEERS and Cowboys. GO BUCCANEERS..

  24. tampabuscsbro Says:

Everyone wants to invest in a veteran corner. WHAT MONEY WERE WE SUPPOSED TO DO THAT WITH. the salary cap was way down as is vet corners that are worth ANYTHING usually demand a lot of money. How were they supposed to do that. it’s iffy if OJ Howard could have been traded away so once again there isn’t a good way to do it.

Also guys you know they just won a super bowl right.

  25. tampabuscsbro Says:

Also Give it to the Kellen Moore he planned and called an amazing game.

  26. BT Says:

I think when Brady realized the Cowboys were clicking he went to a time-trusted target, Gronk.

  27. unbelievable Says:

After mistakes by Evans, Godwin and RoJO, Brady leaned on Gronk and AB big time. Same with Lenny, even though he caused one of those INTs.

Eventually he came back to Godwin late in the game too, but you can see who he truly trusts on the team…

  28. Rod Munch Says:

Evans didn’t make a mistake, the ball was tipped. Did you see the slow motion? You literally see the angle the ball change.

  30. Robstradamus Says:

Listen when I tell you all “Stephon Gilmore will retire a Tampa Bay Buc ”
May not happen b4 this next off-season but I believe it will happen. BB will never let Gilmore slide our way if he can get in the way but next season barring any contract extensions, I see Stephon rocking TB colors next season or sooner. I’d bet a few 0’s that Brady & Gilmore have had this conversation. It’s all I want for Xmas !!!

  31. Wild Bill Says:

Gronk looked 100% like the “old” Gronk! He looked slim, fast and tough as nails!

  32. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

Seen on out there, that’s about it,,seen,,I almost got in my car and drive to Florida to Punch Goodwin and Lenny in the face, but fear and common sense stopped me

  33. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

    Oj

  34. Greg Says:

Good 1st game, rust is off….
17 game season is a long haul … gonna need 2 deep every position to get to 20 games. 7 months is a long time to stay in game shape
