Tom Brady Is Not Too Old Until He’s Too Old

September 9th, 2021

Still young.

It’s hard to believe, but there is a guy who is the starting quarterback for your Super Bowl champion Bucs that is just six years away from AARP eligibility.

And one guy who types for the NFL’s house organ is sick of hearing about it.

Chase Goodbread of NFL.com pretty much types that it’s time for people to quit writing about the football obituary of park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

In so many words, Goodbread wrote that until Brady proves he’s too old to play, he’s not too old.

The GOAT Story, Chapter 22. The year is 2045. Tom Brady, age 68, is looking fit as ever and, thanks to new advances in geriatrics, can still knock an apple off a tree stump with a football from 30 yards away. He’s still slicing up NFL defenses in pursuit of a 15th Super Bowl ring, and … OK, we’re not quite there yet. But here in 2021, the assumption on how Brady looks coming off yet another Super Bowl crown at 44, entering his 22nd season, shouldn’t be that he’s bound to have slipped. He’s beyond such mortal inevitabilities. Assume instead that he continues to be a marvel of longevity, and effective enough to keep delivering NFL wins, until he proves otherwise.

Brady really is a marvel. And Joe is very confident typing we will never see another guy like Brady in our lifetimes still carving up defenses at 44.

Joe still thinks it is pretty cool that Brady said recently he would like to be with the Bucs for “years.” And he wasn’t just talking about the final two years of his current contract.

If Brady wants to play and a trainer has to wheel him out onto the field in a wheelchair, the way his winning ways rub off on teammates, Joe would find the best wheelchair in the western world.

Guess we’ll have to wait until the mothership arrives before it’s confirmed he’s an alien.

Years would be this year, and next year. That would be three total years as a Buc at least one S.B. so far. That also carries Tom to the age of 45 which he says he’s playing till. Good health, and still winning, perhaps he signs one year deals, and goes longer. We talk about Tom moving forward, but injuries along our O line could weigh in. Lose three lineman to injury Tom might not be able to keep playing. Let’s enjoy what we have now.

I actually think many past NFL QBs could have continued to play well into their mid-40s…

The reality is, most QBs want to retire by 40 or before. All the decent ones will have made plenty of money.

But there are also only so many (few) WINNING teams that make the playoffs. And let’s face it, if your a QB and your team keeps missing the playoffs, you’re on the hot seat. If you’re an older QB, teams will always prefer a younger prospect that could be “the future.”

I think Brady is paving the way for other QBs to play longer – if they want to. I think many don’t want to more than not being able to.

You want to have some fun?
Check out this website this same time last year.

Man there was some people not feeling brady and bucs
Chris simms even said bucs would not make playoffs
Bust/ stupid signing/ better off with previous guy

Man its great to be a buc
This could / should be the best all around buc team ever !
    Go bucs!

  5. Alan Collingwood Says:

“Football” will tell him when its time to go. Until then, heis been insanely great at the job that he loves.

Joe what’s the bridge you’re always joking about? If Brady stays longer the haters are gonna be lined up on it😂

  7. Topdoggie Says:

Offensive line is the key to how long he can play. Injury ultimately ends old qbs who continue to play. Fanatical training and some good luck has kept Toms injury rate rate way below 90% of qbs. That and a lightning quick release of the ball.

Hey, Phil Mickelson won the PGA Championship at age 50, nearly 51…….as Satchel Paige said: “Age is a case of mind over matter — if you don’t mind — it don’t matter!”

  9. Eddie Marz Says:

Brady has not been lucky as some would suggest. He even plans on how to take a stack and fall. He’s the most thorough QB I’ve ever seen play the game. GO BUCS! Tonight it’s on, can’t wait.👍

  10. Clinton Roche Says:

I think any QB that looses 3 starting OL would be in trouble….LOL

  11. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete - Founder of IAMSTPETE.community Says:

Barring injury, Brady will play until he’s at least 50.

He wants to play ‘another 10 years’ according to his new NFT ad.

Brady will retire with a MINIMUM of 10 Superbowl victories and he will retire as a Buc.

  12. Ben green Says:

He’ll play as long as he can win titles. For the love of Christ, Peyton Manning won when he could barely grip a football. I don’t see him taking it quite that far. He has been very lucky in avoiding injury. Who knows

  13. Buczilla Says:

If we win another super bowl with Brady, he will surpass Reggie White as the best free agent of all time.

Brady sure is helping Blaine Gabbert keep a job!
