Surviving Sloppy

September 19th, 2021

Yes, the Bucs were vicitimized today by a horrendous offsides call on Shaq Barrett, but outside of that, Tampa Bay was flagged eight times for 78 yards.

That’s too many. Most NFL teams have a maximum goal of six penalties per team.

Ryan Jensen and Carlton Davis were hit with personal fouls and in addition to the penalties, Ronald Jones played with his head in the clouds and Leonard Fournette coughed up a football that thankfully went out of bounds.

In so many ways, it’s a great sign to the see the Bucs play a sloppy game (by their high standards) and still come away with a blowout win.

But it’s got to stop now. It was a little understandable against Dallas. It was a head-shaker today, and against the Rams in Los Angeles next week it’ll get them beat.

Bucco Bruce Arians has a lot to work with in the film room as he works to keep his team from getting overconfident on a 10-game winning streak.

This game reminded me of the Vegas game last year, where it was really tight, then the Bucs get a score in the 4th, and next thing you know it’s an easy w and looks like a blowout on the stat sheet.

Joe just add D White’s scoop and score and there is you half a hundred. lol

Still waiting to see the Bucs play a clean game. They are far from polished, but they still put up enough points to hide the mistakes. Glad because the D is not near the level they are capable of overall. It was great to see the 2 pick 6’s, that is a step in the right direction for the D, but again overall, the D needs to step it up.

    GO BUCS!!!!

Greg Olsen did an excellent job today, calling this game.

Hate to see it and I almost hope he sees it and proves Me wrong, but jpp is starting to look old and tired out there. Could be we need to rotate him a bit more. He’s still a heck of a leader. I do like what Tryon shows at times. Still needs to improve in run game, but looks long and athletic with some juice. Got a couple pressures. I’m assuming his run defense is why we don’t see him much early. More of a pass rush specialist this early in career

Im good with the Jensen pentalty. Early in game, we kicking butt…..Let Jensen add a bruise for you.

Set the tone early and dont mess up Tom in the 4th Quater.

Next time we see the Falcons do it again!!! Ha ha ha.

    GO BUCS!!!!

Pete can’t wait till next weeks game so he’s gonna go into a Michael Jackson type coma w/ a propofol drip & catch up on some sleep

I suggested this offseason, when Chandler Jones said he wanted to be traded, the Bucs should at least call them, make a package with JPP and a 2nd rounder, maybe throw in OJ to help with the cap number. I was told that was nuts, we must keep JPP, it’s a non-starter, I’m a traitor, it’s a stupid idea, etc…

Jones had 5 sacks in week 1.

I have no issues with JPP, but Jones would have been quite the upgrade. BUT I still expect JPP to come alive when it’s crunch time. He’s that kind of player, will play big when it’s needed… hopefully.

JimmyJack – The Jensen crap was garbage, indefensible. If he doesn’t do that dumb play, the Bucs might score 70 today, since it completely changed the momentum of the game for at least a quarter. BA needs to make Jensen run laps for that idiocy, in fact, make the entire team run laps because of Jensen. He’s been doing these stupid plays all year that do nothing to help the offense – and he just kills drives. As I said in the game thread, there’s a reason Licht drafted his replacement this year.

  10. Elita Vita Says:

Yes they need to clean things up but today I was very happy for Edwards with his two pick six’s. And let’s not forget that they scored almost 50 points today!
    Go Bucs!!

  11. TBSwarm Says:

I think that personal foul on the receiver (Dean?) was also a bad call

  12. SufferingSince76 Says:

Perhaps BA needs to can someone’s arse to get the point across like he did with Hargreaves.

  13. August 1976 Buc Says:

Jensen reverted for a play to the knuckleheaded crap that was common with him in the first couple of years. Garbage, yes Rod it did mess up the momentum.
If I am BA, I would say get out your checkbook Ryan, and make out a check to your favorite charity for 50 grand,
Maybe that will help you stay consistent like you have been doing since the Bear debacle when Brady went off on you
    GO BUCS!!!!

  14. Jeffrey Sams Says:

No…… no… absolutely not. Get Olsen and d bag to his right know nothing bucs. That was embarrassing to even listen too. I hit mute. JC.

  15. Tampadeuce21 Says:

    What he said above

  16. Taampabaybucfan Says:

Stupid is stupid…..it doesn’t matter when in the game…..

We had very sloppy tackling today….and when we didn’t get to Ryan (which was often) he burned us badly.

The rules should allow the refs to change their calls on reviewed plays…..I can understand how they missed the offsides on Shaq because he timed his rush perfectly.

The Bradley Pinion punt saved the game.

  17. JimmyJack Says:

Rod Much anythings possible but I highly doubt the Bucs are going to ask Brady to start playing behind an inexperienced kid at age 45. Brady is picking his own Center here you better believe that. And even if he doesnt want Jensen next year its way more likely they bring in somebody else that experienced.

  18. Bbro Says:

Rojo let Brady take a hit and sacked not even trying to pickup the blitz play Lenny.

  19. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Yeah Jeffrey all they talked about was the Falcons, horrendous

  20. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – I didn’t say bench him, but if the new kid shows anything, Jensen and his bonehead plays will be gone. Or they’ll move Marpet back to center or something. But from a pure salary point, I doubt they can keep him, and he makes it easy when he plays that dumb. Also they have to figure out what to do at LT, and with as much as people complain about Smith, it’s really difficult to find an even average LT.

But Jensen can’t do that garbage. It didn’t fire up the team, you know all of them were cussing out that ginger under their breath.

  21. unbelievable Says:

    Agree 100% with this.

  22. Brandon Says:

    Rod,
Chandler had ZERO sacks this week in a game where they needed him to show up big and he didn’t but he had FIVE sacks in a week one blowout. That doesn’t really strengthen your case. Didn’t Clayborn have a 5-6 sack game once for the Falcons and we had people wondering why we didn’t keep him… pretty sure he didn’t have any other sacks that year. Jones is obviously better than Clayborn, Carl Nassib was/is… but having one big stat game in a blowout against a bad team doesn’t mean the dude is better than what we’ve got.
