Todd Bowles Adjusted Well

September 19th, 2021

Slammed door on Atlanta.

Look, there are a lot of people who diss Matty Ice for some reason. Joe never understood this unless it is the fantasy football crowd.

(That’s just a guess.)

The Bucs’ pass rush for the second straight week was lousy. One reason was Matty Ice throwing short passes which, of course, gives a defense little time to get to the quarterback.

But late in the third quarter, Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles decided enough is enough. He started sending Devin White on blitzes.

While Matty Ice got off two passes when White blitzed, one was a beautiful dodge of White by Matty Ice, White was no question starting to rattle the Dixie Chicks quarterback.

The Bucs defense only allowed two first downs by Atlanta in the fourth quarter and the Bucs’ defense slammed the door shut on any upset idea Atlanta had.

Props to Bowles for finding a way and getting his players in position to take over the game.

It’s going to get a lot tougher next week in Los Angeles.

He played Edwards, Whitehead and Winfield instead of Cockerell as well. Best adjustment.

Will next week have both teams with a score above 50? Would not be surprised. But that is why they play the game, because you just never know.

    GO BUCS!!!!

No story about you girlfriend Winston?

Good spot, Joe and most decidedly true. All stat-type analyses aside, my prediction was also true because I had noticed how out of shape the Birds were, and just about gassed in 4th quarter of their last game. So I predicted we would win by a mile and we did. YAAAHOO!!

Same player different team. Winston will revert back to old Winston just like he did today.

Week one for Winston….an early and steady lead…..a running game….no picks…short passing

    Week two….playing from 2 scores behind ..no running game….longer passes….2 picks…

How do Falcons fans deal with the Brady angst? He’ been as cruel as a cat with a mouse with them. I doubt there is a solitary person in Atlanta that would buy Tom a shot of tequila……

Nah, figured tonight, Bucs fans want to read about a Bucs win. Yeah, Joe knows, weird.

Sorry Joe, you’re giving Bowles too much credit here. The Bucs were blitzing throughout the game but, weren’t getting home. If you can’t get to the QB, then drop more in coverage, disguise your looks etc. It seems our defensive adjustments are blitz or no blitz. Bowles better have a real plan next week; a pass rush would help too.

Another week with Vea looking like the only person getting around the QB. A lot of the game it kept looking like the ends didn’t want to rush and did a lot of standing. Not looking good for the guys wanting to be defensive player of the year and a all pro. I’m glad they won, but I would like to see the D dominate like the run last year.

Some bleep holes on this site just want more toxic Winston talk….are y’all tired of bashing Jameis, you’ve been doing that for 7 years!

Now to stay on topic, offense looks great….defense needs to step it up. If Richard Sherman is available Licht should be making calls this week to cover for his very questionable choice to draft Trask in the 2d round.

^ Nah Gholstin had a lot of pressure too.

JPP and Shaq need to step it up and come out of witness protection.

I didn’t see the Saints game. I saw Jameis threw one up at the end of the half the didn’t result it any points and tried one again the last 2 minutes left in the game done 20 something. Was it his fault the OL played so poorly and they have no nfl level wrs. But like I said I didn’t see the game maybe the team played so bad because he made a silly pregame prep speech.
