Physical Practice; Everybody Working Except Jordan Whitehead

September 5th, 2021

Jordan Whitehead

The Bucs had their game-week day in pads today at One Buc Palace.

Bucco Bruce Arians said it was a spirited and very physical practice.

Man, Arians was extra happy for the cameras, saying it was the first time he can remember asking players if they wanted to be in pads and they replied, “Yes.”

Arians even said the players said the pads were a good idea for everyone’s “protection.”

The Bucs open their season Thursday, so today is a typical “Wednesday” for a Sunday game. An official injury report comes out later but Arians said only Jordan Whitehead missed practice with a hamstring issue. Newcomer running back Giovani Bernard is “full speed” after twisting his ankle.

Mission accomplished for Arians. He got his powerhouse team to opening day super healthy.

Arians added that he’s not counting out Whitehead for opening day.

It’s ok, we don’t need Whitehead right now. Just make sure that when he does come back that his mind & body are 100%. He was invaluable during the Packers game

  2. PassingThru Says:

I hope he sits the Dallas game out. Hammys are just one of those muscles that are very slow to heal.

  3. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Agreed Passing Thru. We don’t need Whitehead to really injure his hammy.

  4. Gbobucsfan Says:

    Is Suh back from covid?

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

The only thing that will slow this team down is covid. Fingers crossed.

  6. IrishMist Says:

The way Whitehead hits, it’s best he missed the “physical” practice. Wouldn’t want him to injure anyone else.

  7. mark2001 Says:

I bet Whitehead will be chomping at the bit to get back in there for opening day. Bruce ..you may need to lock the door coming into the locker room to keep him from suiting up.

  8. mark2001 Says:

Or as Devin, a real horseman, would probably say…champing at the bit.

  9. David Says:

Edwards has played great. I love Whitehead and how fearless he is but don’t mess with a hamstring.!!
    Make sure it is 100%
Relax and let the rest of the gravediggers take care of business. Get healthy!

  10. Hodad Says:

Go with the guy who’s been practicing, that ain’t Whitehead. Edwards will be starting I would think. He’s been practicing, and playing preseason. I don’t see a drop off talent wise. Healthier, better prepared player is Edwards.

  11. TOM Says:

Edwards is not the big hitter White is but still a very good replacement if need be.

  12. BillyBucoff Says:

    Gbobucsfan

I haven’t seen any news that Suh has been activated.
Would expect to see it today or tomorrow.

  13. BerrickDrooks Says:

Maybe this means we can re-sign Whitehead this offseason for a cheaper deal. Unless we go back-2-back for real lmao.
