Ndamukong Suh Believes Bucs Will Be OK If Jason Pierre-Paul Cannot Play

September 24th, 2021

Expectations.

It seems the Bucs will be without two Pro Bowl level players Sunday: the spiritual leader of their defense, Jason Pierre-Paul, and furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown.

Brown tested positive for The Sickness. (There is a scant chance he could pass two additional tests before the plane leaves tomorrow.)

Then there is JPP who has shoulder and hand issues, and doctors told him after getting a second opinion that he just needs rest for the shoulder to heal.  It’s hard to rest while rushing the passer and tackling in an NFL game.

Speaking yesterday to the local pen and mic club, manbeast defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh said the way the Bucs have developed backup talent, JPP shouldn’t be missed Sunday against the Rams.

Suh wasn’t knocking his teammate. Instead, he was talking up Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Anthony Nelson.

“Honestly, we shouldn’t lose anything,” Suh said. “We expect Joe [Tryon-Shoyinka] to step up and it’s something that we’ve talked about all the time – that at any point in the season we’re going to have a young guy and/or someone who is technically a backup to step up and be a starter and play in a role that really is expected for them to have no drop offs.

“At the end of the day, we’re definitely going to miss JPP if he’s not playing, but we expect for guys to step up and fill in that role.”

Joe thinks what Suh said is pretty cool — cool in that a standard of excellence has been set by guys like Suh. And if a reserve is called on, a certain level of play is not just expected but demanded.

That what winning football programs do. That’s what champions do.

    ………yall miss me?????

The lack of pass rush is really concerning…..There is a huge change in D-Line play……huge. While stuffing the run is one thing……coming off the edge is now non-existent.

This is resulting in killing our terrible backup corners and safeties. We’ve been lucky so far only because the offense is coming through……so unless something changes……..our BUCS WILL LOSE GAMES because of defense.

Todd Bowles has been brilliant with making due with inferior talent at cornerback……….but you can’t make chicken salad outta pork…..ya feel me??????

The Bucs need Richard Sherman BADLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he passes the second test after the team plane leaves, can’t we just stick him on a private jet?

  3. Ash Says:

Not the way I would have wanted it to happen but definitely wanted to see more jts on the field.

  4. ModHairKen Says:

That’s why Suh will eventually be Head Coach at Nebraska. He has natural coaching talent.

  5. Medicated Pete Says:

Pete thinks we’re in trouble vs Rams so if we win Pete will be happier than a whore at the Republican convention

  6. mark2001 Says:

Mod.. I suspect he will have a few successful businesses, and won’t coach. But I guess you never know.

  7. Medicated Pete Says:

Joe Toyinka-Shryoinka is a name that is begging for endorsement deals. Smart move

  8. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

If JPP can’t play, then we need for Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to step up.

  9. Steven007 Says:

Let’s be honest, given Paul’s production so far this season he should be easily replaceable by Tryon. What won’t be replaceable is perhaps the energy he brings to the defense. But they seem to be relatively self-regulating and we’ve got other vets out there. Will be interesting to see what Tryon and Nelson can do with more snaps.

  10. Cobraboy Says:

How would we know if JPP is missing? He’s been invisible…so far.

  11. SB~LV Says:

Time for the young guns on the DL to shine, Gumby, Nelson and Davis

  12. Lawrence Thomas Says:

Pretty sure he will play. JPP doesn’t miss games unless the coach physically takes him out

  13. Hodad Says:

Tryon would’ve had an easy sack of Ryan last week, but friendly fire from Vea took him out of the play. We saw enough of Joe this preseason to know he’s a legit first round talent. Let’s hope if JPP doesn’t play the Rams tackles relax thinking they can just show up against the rookie.

  14. IrishTony Says:

“Inferior talent at cornerback” are you serious? Davis is a damn good corner who’s pretty much shut everyone he’s covered thus far. Dean struggles in zone but it’s not a talent issue it’s more mental with him. Cockrell is a bit sow and gets burned at times but he’s a gamer. Don’t forget they have 4 capable safeties they can move around a lot so expect to see Edwards in the slot at times. The secondary just needs to do a better job of tackling these Ram receivers who tend to run shorter routes but are great at YAC.

  15. PassingThru Says:

Tryon-Shoyinka might prove to be an upgrade this game. Competition might be what is needed to recharge JPP. I really like the completeness of JPP’s game, but Father Time might be taking a toll on him.

    NEXT…MAN…UP!

It should be expected through the course of a season that someone will have to step in. I like how the bar has been set on the defense.

  17. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

JPP was phenomenal last year but at some point in time, he is going to slow down. I think this is a great opportunity for Tryon to prove he’s worth starting this early.

  18. SufferingSince76 Says:

    The Bucs will win.

  19. Coburn Says:

Could see more pass rush from Tryon but our run defense will drop off. I’m sure we can afford a bit

  20. Winny Testaverde Says:

Although Suh would be an outstanding leader of young men, I cannot picture him as a future coach. He’s too much of a business minded fella. I picture him being an entrepreneur a la Shaq O’Neal. I also believe this will be his final season as a NFL player.

  21. Buxszntkt Says:

Not cool Pete, lumping all the senators together like that ! 😂

  22. My Momma says Says:

The Bucs knew this day was coming a lot sooner than we ever did. My concern with Tryon is whether he’ll set the edge and be able to stop the run.

In regards to the lack of a pass rush, there’s been a lot of blatant holding going on, which of course the league controls. They weren’t starting to call the holds until late in the Atlanta game. They want to see exciting close games. This is all about advertising dollars because the league doesn’t want to see blow out wins by any one team. They want to keep the audience engaged to keep their viewership up so they can charge more per second for ad spots.

And when they weren’t holding, they were using the short passing game to neutralize the pass rush.

  23. Medicated Pete Says:

Devin white was on Good morning football & expects a full report from Joe

  24. BRYAN KOHN Says:

Pete i’m STILL Laughing! go Bucs! Should be one helluva game!

  25. Mike Says:

I think if JTS gets enough snaps, he is bound to make some things happen for the Bucs D! He’s just too physically talented not to have an impact.

  26. SlyPirate Says:

    PassingThru … I’m with you.

JTS has been getting better penetration than JPP this year. There is no tape on JTS so the OT will be going in blind.

  27. TOM Says:

This is the last year for Suh & JPP. Here we go again but as of right now CB should be the Bucs 1st pick in the draft.

  28. Stanglassman Says:

I love how this guy picks the Rams then talks himself out of it ultimately saying just pick the over.

  29. Bucs&Bolts Says:

Bucs going to destroy Rams Stafford going to toss a few picks not going to be close rams overrated…

  30. E.V. Says:

It’s gonna be a blowout. 2 corners and Aron Donald can’t block 10 Offensive player’s we have plus Stafford gonna throw at least 3 presents and get sacked 5 plus times. Brady is pissed he missed Evans deep last week you’ll see Brady having best game 6+ touchdowns and lmk who the Rams played some sorry teams and barely won BUCS 55-30!!!!!

  31. David Says:

This game will be won in the trenches!
