It’s Rob Gronkowski’s World And We Just Live In It

September 19th, 2021

Bucs TE Rob Gronkowski.

Is it the Florida lifestyle that so agrees with foot-rubbing, car-littering Rob Gronkowski?

The Bucs tight end has had an NFL rebirth. When he retired two years ago, he was beat to hell. His brother even spoke on a podcast how after the Belicheats beat Matty Ice and the Dixie Chicks in the Super Bowl in 2017, Gronk after the game had to be held up in the bathroom so he could do his business because he was in such pain.

After taking 2019 off, the Bucs traded for his rights and he returned to the game. And Gronk was a key reason the Bucs won the Super Bowl.

In fact, the injury-prone Gronk played in all 20 games last year, his first full season since 2011.

Jenna Laine of ESPN types Gronk is showing no signs of being worn down.

Gronk is in terrific health right now, while the Bucs’ other tight ends — O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate — are still shaking off some rust and making up for time lost to injuries. Gronk’s health is always worth monitoring, but he missed zero games last year and has shown no signs of injury now.

With Atlanta possessing such a sorry defensive line, don’t be surprised if Gronk has another good game and maybe a touchdown or two.

While Gronk is unlikely to end his career with the most touchdown catches for a tight end, as the Bucs’ media relations department noted in a release Friday, Gronk is within shooting distance of a two other NFL records for tight ends.

There likely isn’t a player on the offense that is trusted more by salad bar-hating, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

Gronk didn’t play in the Atlanta SB, he was injured. Joe I think you were referring to the Rams SB 2018. He got hit in the leg early in the game that caused a severe leg injury. He continued to play and ultimately made the game winning catch on the 2 yard line. These are the things Belichick takes for granted. Brady did the same had an almost career ending hand injury and still played in the Philadelphia SB where Belichick pretty much lost by benching Malcolm Butler. Bill lost the locker room after that game and here we are today.

That should read “regular season” for the all time receiving tds by a TE – has Gronk at 88, He’s caught 101 tds from TB including post season.

  4. Eddie Marz Says:

Gronk’s a stud. He has great hands and puts himself in position to make plays. Tough guy to defend, especially in the red zone. GO BUCS!

And yes – Rams SB, not Flacons SB when Gronk couldn’t walk much after.
