“I’m Expecting … No. 1 Seed Kind Of Stuff”

September 2nd, 2021

“That’s Lombardi Lenny, Tom.”

What is the Bucs’ ceiling?

One former Buccaneers player and Belicheats assistant coach thinks an even greater explosion of offense and defense is coming to Tampa.

Quarterback Chris Simms sounded in complete awe of the Bucs during his NFC South preview for NBC Sports.

“I just think they’re so clearly the most talented team in the NFC,” Simms said. “And then it’s another year of Brady in the system. And then, what we saw from Brady [against the Texans in preseason]. They’re going to be able to do whatever they want on offense.”

Simms says it’s clear that Tom Brady has stopped thinking and will be playing instinctively all season within the offense, and that spells doom for defenses.

And the Bucs will have balance, Simms says, if they have the urge. “If they want to run the ball, they’ve got a mean nasty offensive line.”

Simms named names on defense to emphasize that the majority of the Bucs starters there should be better because they are so young.

“I’m expecting, you know, No. 1 seed kind of stuff kind of stuff from the Tampa Bay Bucs this year,” Simms said.

Joe is expecting the same.

As long as the Buc’s running game is at least crediible, there’s no
    stopping them

    ……….

    This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Old Bucs Fans could only DREAM of the kind of team we have now!

  3. Buc1987 Says:

Bucs are going to run some teams over this season.

    Get used to it!

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

One has to wonder……how good would this year’s team be with another QB?…….Not nearly as good without Brady…..but certainly very, very good.

The defense is outstanding & the Oline & all the weapons are there……How would this team be with say…a Teddy Bridgewater…..Curt Cousins…..Matt Ryan…..

Surely, they would still be very good!!!

  5. PassingThru Says:

Amazing on how Chris Sims changed his song and dance. He was dismissive of Brady and implied that he over the hill prior to last season.

  6. View from 132 Says:

All this talk of greatness is fun, but it is Week 1 now. They have no wins. Glad there are vets on this team that know that predictions are worthless. No winning record until the 9th win. No division title until they win the title. No bye week. It all has to be earned on the field. All the offseason mania over what appears to be a great roster is nice, but I remember 2003 too well to assume all this success.

    @Tampabaybucfan

You can sit and wonder about that all day long if you want, but there is only one Tom Brady. There has never been and there never will be again a QB like him. So just enjoy the ride.
The intangibles that come with this guy are so far off the chart they are immeasurable.
Don’t wish this moment away by pondering silly questions.

  9. Steven007 Says:

132, That’s my take. I admit, for good reason, to being a relatively nervous Bucs fan. Call it a habit developed after years of mental abuse. I am certainly hopeful and confident, but the games must be played.

  10. Casual Observer Says:

Gotbucs is right. The intangibles possessed by TB are outstanding and unmeasurable. But real. Enjoy the season!

  11. Mike Says:

Truth be told, only the Bucs can stop the Bucs.

  12. BuucccNASTY Says:

TampaBayBucsFan, they would only be close to as good had whoever was there last year won them a superbowl. The NEED to win was distilled into our DNA last year, and that is something I believe ONLY Tom coulda done. Now, maybe if Jameis had gotten lasek surgery and come back to us.. who knows lol

  13. Robert Says:

hope they stomp on their throats like NE used to do.

    run up the score!

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    gotbucs

Not nearly as good without Brady

Guess you missed this in my post….and, by the way….we ponder silly questions day in and day out here at JBF….most of those silly questions are posed by the Joes….

I was geeking out on this this morning …

    Smith, Marpet, Jensen, Cappa, Wirfs
    Gronk
    4Net, Rojo
    Evans, Godwin, AB
    Brady

All of those players (literally every starter) have a legitimate shot at making the Pro Bowl.

  16. lambeau Says:

The two drives against the Texans really did look like Brady at his old comfort level when the Patriots could be unstoppable–and he never had this talent.

    One more week!

I was in the Army, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas when the Bucs played the Cowboys in a playoff game (‘81, ‘82?). I watched the game in the day room with several Cowboy fans. We lost 38-0. It sucked. As usual, I called my dad after the game. He was as angry and as disappointed as I was. We’ve been waiting for revenge ever since. Yeah, it’s not a playoff game coming up, but it is a game that will draw millions and millions of viewers. Putting a very convincing (49-3?) beat down on the Cowboys would go a long way towards healing old wounds.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Hate the Cowboys….always have….always will….maybe it’s the “America’s Team” moniker……
But, oddly enough, I don’t hate “America’s Quarterback”…..actually kind of felt sorry for him.
With the Cowboys, I continually have this image of Jerry Jones with a cocktail up in his skybox…..not a good image.

  19. BillyBucoff Says:

My dad who has recently passed used to talk about that playoff loss to the Cowboys all the time.
    He too HATED the Cowgirls.
I live here and can see AT&T Stadium from my office so I don’t hate them.
In fact, looking at Dallas, it was just last preseason everyone was calling them the Lamborghini Offense.

I will be at the game so I hope we beat them 49-3 also, just can’t imagine it.
They have a really good offense.

    Of course so does KC

  20. Buddha Says:

The odds against the buccaneers repeating is six or seven to one. A lot of things still have to go right. The bills, the browns, the Chiefs, Green Bay, San Francisco… The Rams. No matter, it is so nice to know we are the hunted!

  21. Infomeplease Says:

September 9th can’t come soon enough!!!!!!!! GO BUCS!!!!

  22. Stpetematt Says:

Tom Brady is probably the only person alive whose intangibles are…tangible.

  23. mark2001 Says:

Chris…regarding… Old Bucs Fans could only DREAM of the kind of team we have now!

Don’t know how old you mean, but yes, we do. Just ask Ira… 😁

And for those no longer with us.. I’m sure they would.

  24. SOEbuc Says:

    Tbbf

IF Brady does leave you think they’re going to pick up Bridgwater to win them a Super Bowl? Licht knows he f#cked up big time with Jameis and he’s much smarter for it now (obviously).

  25. CalBucsFan Says:

At a minimum, the Bucs should do to the NFC what Alabama does annually to the NCAA, if not the entire NFL.

    Let’s go, Roll Bucs!
