Giovani Bernard & Jordan Whitehead Sidelined

September 2nd, 2021

We are one week from opening night!

Joe can’t believe the long, long wait is nearly over.

Our beloved Bucs were running around in an underwear football session at One Buc Palace today and notably off the field was playoff-hero safety Jordan Whitehead and running back Giovani Bernard.

Bernard had two drops in the preseason finale. On the second, he appeared to twist his ankle significantly. Bucco Bruce Arians said after practice today that Bernard is “fine,” but we’ll see what the first official injury report of the season says on Sunday. (Yes, Sunday.)

Whitehead continues to work on getting his surgically-repaired shoulder 110 percent before he starts unleashing the bone-crushing hits for which he’s known.

  1. Medicated Pete Says:

We don’t need them till Rams game

  2. mark2001 Says:

And now Arians says the entire team and organization is vaccinated…100%. If both Joes and Ira are, I’d say we are ready to rock and roll on this season.

  3. SlyPirate Says:

FYI, Arians reported the Bucs Organization is 100% vaccinated. Coaches, Staff, Players … even 4Net.

Hopefully this puts an end to the Covid articles so we can focus on football.

  4. Winny Testaverde Says:

Under the radar re-signing of Adams at safety recently. He has played very well as a back end of the roster type of guy. No hurry on Bernard…don’t want to rush high ankle sprains back too early.

  5. mark2001 Says:

Actually if Bernard is out, it may give Rojo or Leonard another chance to prove their ball catching skills have improved enough to call either one, or both, a complete back. Rather have him in. But if not, go to it guys…compete…and lets see if one of you guys can step up.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Well, with Bernard possibly out…..Joe may get his wish for an offense without Bernard……denying Brady the passing to the back option….forcing him to dedicate all his throws to that elite, historic group of receivers…
The only problem with that is that he will still trow to Rojo, Playoff Lenny or Keyshawn….

But, sidelined is not out until it’s on gameday.

  7. Pickgrin Says:

Yea – I thought it looked like Gio pulled up lame in that last game……

Sucks – but at least with it happening on the last preseason game – he’s getting 12 days of recovery before Game 1.

Gio was/is set to play a pretty big role as the primary 3rd down/passing down back this year. He may well wind up with 40-50+ catches in 2021.

But if Gio can’t go to start the season, we are fine at RB.

I actually think Rojo is going to show improved catching ability this year and have a very big year impact wise.

  8. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I think Mike Edwards might have beaten Jordan Whitehead as a starter.

  9. JimmyJack Says:

Doesnt sound good for Whithead. He has been out all preseason i believe.

If Bernard misses the Dallas game we should be just fine if their defense is as pathetic as it was last year. Bernard will probably be a bigger factor against top defenses that can put some heat on Brady.

  10. Buc4evr Says:

Playoff Lenny is now Vaccinated Lenny!, great news, now we don’t have to worry about the draconian NFL Covid policy.

  11. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

“Playoff Lenny is now Vaccinated Lenny!, great news, now we don’t have to worry about the draconian NFL Covid policy.”

I suspect most players got a Dr to give them a fake vax. (as per Rock Riley). No way they would risk their bodies, health and career like Eric Clapton, Paul Stanley or Roy Butler (RIP) did with anEGT jab.

  12. fern Says:

They signed Cam Newton’s dad for back up.
    Andrew Adams will help.

  13. Jerry Says:

Changes nothing. Vaccination doesn’t mean much. Succup was vaccinated and still missed a game. They are testing players every week regardless of vaccine status. Chances are very high we will lose a big starter at some point this season for at least a week due to COVID. We got lucky last year, but there were more restrictions last year.

  14. SB~LV Says:

    😁The games begin

  15. Bucsfanman Says:

Lets get the season rolling. Sad if those two aren’t able to start but hey, next man up!

  16. PassingThru Says:

    @Ghost

Sure, a physician will risk his medical license all for the sake of advancing ignorance and anti-vax propaganda.

  17. RLBuc17 Says:

Being vaxxed does not stop a player/person from testing positive.

  18. R.O. Says:

Last year was last year. Stop overlooking the Cowboys. Anything can happen game 1.

  19. mark2001 Says:

Passing..99% true…but one doctor would risk their license by lying about things like bone spurs, when the patient can’t even remember in which leg he had them. Of course, I imagine a good deal of money was involved.

  20. Goodscotch B. Good Says:

Just because anything can happen doesn’t mean it will. Cowboys getting killed. Book it.

  21. Biff Barker Says:

You never overlook any team for any game in the NFL. Bad game, bad luck, injuries. Whatever.
That said, I hope the Bucs lay down a 30 point whoopin’ on the Cowpokes and Jerrah.

  22. PassingThru Says:

    @mark2001

True, money does talk. I remember something similar, about a dad being so hell-bent on getting his son into UPenn that he paid someone to take the son’s SATs. Similarly, that same student’s sister admitted to doing his homework. It was also rumored that the father gave a fat donation right before acceptance, but UPenn won’t comment on sources of private donations.

  23. Biff Barker Says:

Joe, if Gio gets scratched for Thursday, You’ll need to scoot over to Ira’s and give him a beer, a hug and some worry beads.

  24. mark2001 Says:

Such is life Passing. At least we aren’t VD ridden like G and his buddies. You know Vaccination Derangement. I think it over time, it rots the brain and causes them to go crazy, if left untreated.

  25. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

“a physician will risk his medical license all for the sake of advancing ignorance and anti-vax propaganda,” says the FDA lawyer.

I know doctors that inject botulism into women’s faces for money and the FDA says its ok.

There are doctors that inject crap into women’s asses to make them swell up.

There was a doctor who got caught selling v-cards on Ebay.

Did they really inject that zombie vax or squirt it into the medical waste dispoval? Don’t ask, don’t tell. It’s confidential.

  26. mark2001 Says:

Poor Ghost…get your VD treated. Don’t wait ..your sanity is at sake.

  27. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

There are 1,000’s of doctor’s that prescribed Oxycontin to high school cheerleaders with sore knees and turned them into crack whores in exchange for trips to Hawaii and the FDA approved everything.

  28. mark2001 Says:

Wow..thousands of doctors, specifically prescribing Oxycontin to cheerleaders, then turning them on to crack? And then exchanging crack for trips to Hawaii?
I can see it now… Now that you are a crack whore, I’ll punish you with a trip to…not Tijuana, not Detroit or Ocala.. but instead that hellish landscape…Hawaii.
WTheck? The VD may have progressed too far.

  29. Steven007 Says:

G, it’s not enough for you to hijack one thread every single day to the point of getting it shut down? Instead you feel the need to infect an open thread as well with your nonsensical invective? The Joe’s sure are patient…

  30. PassingThru Says:

    @Ghost

Thanks for the explanation Ghost. I now see the problem clearly.

    You’re off your meds.

  31. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

    What is Zen?
Every leftist 💩 bag committing Hari Kari!!!💥🙋🏼‍♂️🇺🇸

  32. mark2001 Says:

Buckaroo Boozie? Major Tom to ground control….I think we have found another VD infected philosopher.

  33. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

    @factcheck.ogres

The CDC is now recommending Ivermectin on their website for all illegal aliens incoming. I’ll have the exact dosage for you tomorrow.

Xlear a Xylitol nose spray available over the counter at Walmart will soon be approved as a daily prophylactic to wipe out Chinese Flu and Big Pharma profits. Oh my!

  34. mark2001 Says:

Ghost…maybe they or their stowaway pets have worms?

Clinical trials have just begun on Xylitol….which is poisonous to your dogs, so be careful. And the study says this… The safety and scientific validity of this study is the responsibility of the study sponsor and investigators. Listing a study does not mean it has been evaluated by the U.S. Federal Government

  35. mark2001 Says:

Sigh…anything but take the Vaccine to prevent the worst outcomes… Poor Ghost VD victim

Aug 26, 2021 · Clinical trials and observational studies to evaluate the use of ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19 have not yielded sufficient evidence to recommend use, according to the CDC health advisory.

  36. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

Pfizer lab in Madrid on fire.

Catholic Churches in Canada on fire.

Sounds like a growing trend, if you can’t get rid of the demons the legal way, burn them down.

Next will be seeing pitch forks and nooses. Oh my.

  37. Steven007 Says:

[Not sure what you meant by that statement. — Joe] Yes, I know you’re open to all viewpoints which should be applauded, but this troll literally feels the need to be contrarian about any fact you put in front of him. To the point now where you’ve literally deleted entire posts with warning messages. Even trollmax didn’t get that kind of treatment before you threw him in the cooler for a while. [T-Max did some stuff that made Ghost looks tame by comparison which is why he was put in the cooler a couple of time. Sooner or later, Joe will tire of Ghost’s repititive lies and he’ll be gone. — Joe] Would be nice to go one day without dealing with the lunatic fringe.

  38. mark2001 Says:

So Joe ..I’m not trying to tell you how to run your business. But allowing guys to cheer while he basically claiming people are burning churches and businesses because of their political and anti-vax leanings…and now he’s talking about pitchforks and nooses? Frankly I like this site…but pretty soon the feds anti-terrorist agents will have to monitor this site to watch out for these kind of guys.

  39. mark2001 Says:

Seriously joe….when does one cross the line and differing opinion become terrorist rhetoric?

  40. Colonel Angus Says:

Vaccine doesn’t prevent you from getting it, nor does it prevent you from transmitting it, so players will catch it and have to sit out. But at least they can hit the clubs.

  41. Buxszntkt Says:

    Ghost definitely has tertiary syphilis.

  42. mark2001 Says:

If burning churches and businesses, picking up pitch forks and nooses is tame, it seems we have forgotten what the term tame and civilized means in America, or at least in many places.

Colonel…you are right that there are breakthrough cases, though the numbers of them aren’t nearly what they are for the unvaccinated. And of course, the number of hospitalizations and deaths of the vaccinated are much less ..between 9 and 29 times less it seems, based upon various places and sources of info. A huge factor in this 100% vaccination issue, is that the team won’t forfeit games or have financial penalties and have other things as possible loss of draft choices, because no infection to other teams particularly won’t be caused by the unvaccinated. And this team is on a mission.

  43. mark2001 Says:

No infection can possibly be caused by the unvaccinated If 100% of the team is vaccinated.

  44. PassingThru Says:

Except for the hints at violence, Ghost serves a useful function in the community at large. People can read reasoned takes by mark2001 and others, then contrast that will the shrill, fabricated nonsense of Ghost. Ghost is helping the vaccination cause.

When your opponent is making a fool of himself, don’t interrupt.

  45. Eddie Marz Says:

I thought this was about football. GO BUCS!

  46. Tom Brady 12 Says:

Xlear nasal spray has been in 50,000 stores in the United States for 20 years. Millions of people have used it with zero adverse issues as it does not contain any drugs. In fact majority of MLB teams have been using it. It does not need FDA approval as no drugs in it. It’s all natural and has no safety issues in 20 years.
