Ian Beckles Smells A Puking Night For Dak Prescott

September 4th, 2021

Former Bucs guard Ian Beckles.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who is handsy Jerry Jones’ $40 million a year man, has a very good chance of blowing chunks against the Bucs Thursday night to open the NFL season on NBC.

Why is that? Well, former Bucs guard and current popular sports radio personality Ian Beckles believes it’s because Prescott has been on ice for way too long.

The last time Prescott threw against a team wearing a different uniform was Oct. 11, 2020.

Beckles is pretty convinced that 11 months away from an NFL playing field will show, so he said on his podcast “In the Trenches.

“There are rookies out there that… have played less [preseason football] than Tom Brady,” Beckles began. “And they’ve played less than Patrick Mahomes. Why do you think Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes played in the preseason? Cause they are trying to get their timing right and they want to be great in Week 1.

“You know who the Buccaneers play in Week 1? The Dallas Cowboys. You know who their quarterback is? It’s Dak Prescott. We all know that because he makes $40 million a year.

“But he’s a quarterback coming off a gruesome foot/ankle injury, which is hard enough itself to come back from. He hasn’t played one down in the preseason. And he’s nursing a bad shoulder. Who thinks that’s going to work?”

Beckles said you don’t have to be an algebra teacher to do the math. A lousy pass defense like the Cowboys have with a brand new defensive coordinator and a rusty quarterback with a sore shoulder adds up a massive mismatch against the Super Bowl champs.

“I’m going to let you know right now I’ve got a boatload on the Buccaneers giving eight points,” Beckles boasted. “The Dallas Cowboys will get trounced in that game. … You’ve got your quarterback on a pitch count? Good luck with that.”

Well, Beckles makes an interesting point about the lousy Cowboys pass defense but that was 2020 and this is 2021. Who knows how good the Cowboys’ pass defense will be under new coordinator Dan Quinn?

Joe decided to check the Dixie Chicks’ defensive passing stats from when Quinn was head coach there.

In Quinn’s six seasons in Atlanta, the Dixie Chicks only once finished in the top half of the league in passing yards allowed. Here are Atlanta’s passing yards allowed rankings with Quinn: No. 18 in 2015, No. 28 in 2016, No. 12 in 2017, No. 27 in 2018, No. 22 in 2019 and NFL flat-worst in 2020.

So Quinn is supposed to have a secondary to stop Tom Brady, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown, Rob Gronkowski, Cam Brate, O.J. Howard and Scotty Miller?

As Beckles would say, “Good luck with that.”

  3. Hodad Says:

A lot of years thrown out there. I’m pretty sure it’s 2021, but that’s one reality.

  5. Medicated Pete Says:

Late games, the bucs played like doo doo last year which has Pete reaching for his pills right now

  6. Going for ✌️In a row Says:

Yes, Jim 2010. Are you with us? lol

I’m looking forward to Bowles’s game plan. They are going to run the ball and try to control the clock. With Suh in the game, that will be a tough mountain to climb. TryonShoyinka will have his first sack of the year. Darden will have a 40-yard return.

I can forgive Joe for the occasional typo….we all do it…

As for the disparaging of our roster cut players….nope…..ridiculous. lengthy monikers for Brady….nope……and the absurd notion that Gio Bernard is little help and shouldn’t be fully utilized….he!! nope.

  9. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

It is hard for me to imagine that Dak Prescott is the highest paid QB in the Nfl.
And, Dan Quinn has been revealed to be a mere mortal w/o Pete Carroll.
I have been reading the Cowboys media, and they really think that this is their year.
LOL, that delusion will end when they face us.

I have always despised the Cowboys. Too hyped, no substance.

  11. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Heaven help us all if the Cowgirls win Thursday night.. ESPN will be slobbering on them for the rest of the year. Sort of like CNN slobberknocking on Trump for the last 5 years.

That was like reading music. And he’s absolutely right!!

    Dak’s post game:

“I’m a little rusty and it showed (3 INTs, 1 Fumble). We can do better (Bucs 39-17). But the Bucs are the defending Super Bowl Champs; they are loaded! I expect the Bucs to be playing again in this year’s SB. Their D is really good, they shut Zeke down (67 yards on 21 attempts). And if you give Tom Brady so much time in the pocket (4 TDs), he is going to light you up. Who is this Dan Quinn guy anyway? Besides, how the heck do you stop ME, Godwin, AB and Gronk all at once?! Its just not a fair fight. Glad this one is over. Good luck to the rest of the league…”.

  14. Kgh4life Says:

The bucs will win, however, the bucs secondary has always been inconsistent.
Should be a high scoring game though.

  15. PassingThru Says:

Great to open the season with a tune-up game. Though the starting offense looked sharp during preseason game three, the OLine gets a chance to shake out any rust while Brady and his targets get their timing down.

  16. Steven007 Says:

Señor, from your keypad to the gods of football’s ears.

  17. Swampbuc Says:

The game will be close. Why? It’s the Bucs. Everyone handing them the game in a blowout, beware.

  18. Iamabuc Says:

Realistically speaking; Bucs should win this game. It’s also realistic to think that Prescott will be running for his life from the gate-go and throughout all game and will probably get intercepted a couple of times (due to off timing and rust). Also is realistic to think the boys will put a few points on the board.
I still don’t understand the idiocy of the Cowboys to throw their 40M QB into this kind of situation. Hey , not complaining. (I will love for my Bucs to give them a first class ass whopping; I hate them Cowgirls) In a very humanely way, I feel for Prescott wellbeing.🤣🤣🤣

  19. Steven007 Says:

I’ve been saying since the Cowboys have been on our schedule that they will try their hardest to run the ball. Seems obvious, but especially with Dak in his current condition. We shut down the run, we force them to pass, and the game comes to us. Of course we got an early lead too, that’ll help.

  20. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Thanks Steven. The football gods told me it was ok to type that…

  21. Buc1987 Says:

I think…they’re going to beat the ever living piss out of the Cowboys.

  22. Kobe Faker Says:

    “Bookies want Cowboys action

they know its going to be a blowout

It seems like BA/BL twins is going to continue running TB12s quick offense and scheme

    45 -28 blowout

4th quarter garbage pts from Dak”

  23. Capt.Tim Says:

The Bucs will make Dak wish he had stayed on IR

  24. DBS Says:

This game should be over by halftime

  28. Buczilla Says:

The cowboys are the most popular team in the league and the only reason that we are playing them. It’s an insult to our team that we are forced to play this trash, but it is what it is. 😜

I’m ready for the showdown, should be able to win this game not easily, but not hard either. Only thing concerning me is the place kickers. Succop been struggling during off-season and mini camp now covid. We need him or the Rodrigo rookie to step up. We lost 2 games last yr bcuz of Field goals and Xtra points…. Offense may take a series or 2 to start clicking, and defense will b n very eager to put pressure on Dak our secondary has improved tremendously, now they’ve had a off-season workout and camp…. Go bucs we got this

  32. Will Lawson Says:

Well I think all you buc fans are in for a surprise. This group isn’t last year’s Cowboys. And Dak will show you why he’s paid so well. But we’ll find out soon enough

  33. Will Lawson Says:

Some of you buc fans are pretty ignorant. Thinking it’s going to be a “mop job”, and the Cowboys can’t hang. What are you people smoking lol. Or maybe the heat has gotten to you. After the game is over, I’ll send everyone a “hope u feel better “ card.
