Battered Gronk

September 26th, 2021

Painful day

Bucs fans got a taste today of why Rob Gronkowski left football after the 2019 season.

Gronk was battered and beaten down and all the hits had drained Gronk of his love for football. It’s not a secret. Gronk needed help to the bathroom after his last Patriots game.

Obviously, after a year of healing in TV studios and the world of professional wrestling, Gronk was traded to the Bucs last season and found his way back to form last late in the year. The rest is Tampa Bay Super Bowl history.

After a great start through two games this season, Gronk took one hell of a beating today.

He was crushed in the ribs over the middle of the field against the Rams and didn’t get off the turf right away. That got him a trip to the locker room for X-rays and he returned to the game — only to take two more punishing shots.

Joe’s not worried about Gronk bouncing back, only the toll of a 17-game season on a 32-year-old tight end who managed to avoid a lot of nasty shots last season.

Joe- what was Brady upset with at the end of the game when the camera showed him throwing his arms up in disgust on the sideline? Maybe the onside kick??

  2. Medicated Pete Says:

Mike Evans finally snapped due to Brady forcing it to Gronk instead throwing #13 the ball. We may have to trade Mike if he acts up again

  3. Miller5252 Says:

It’s too bad about Gronk. He was just getting to be dominate and now an injury. You know he wants to play against his old team. Let’s hope he’s good to go, but if we can sit him to get health let’s make sure we do it. Need him when we play the rams again

I think we need to trade you, or increase the medication.

  5. Anonymous Says:

Arians said Gronk is fine so this is a non factor.

  6. EA Says:

Rams defense hit them in the mouth and hit them hard just like Mike Tyson once said. This team just wasn’t ready to play and BA better light a fire under this defenses arse and do it quick because they have yet to play a decent game this year. You can’t expect the offense to score 35 points a game every week.
Guess what ? There are fans at every road game this year, better get used to it.

  7. BerrickDrooks Says:

After how the team played today and how the coaching called plays on both offense and defense, Tom and Gronk should both retire.

  8. Hodad Says:

Joe, please ask tomorrow why an obviously hurt Gronk went back into a game that was well lost? Reminded of a corner that keeps sending a battered fighter back every round knowing he’s beat. I would’ve pulled Brady too.

  9. BerrickDrooks Says:

its cuz they really thought they had a chance at 17-0

  10. Beeej Says:

They won a couple such games last year

I think Brady was pissed because we should have recovered the onside kick. That and he knows this team (especially the Defense) is not that good and/or prepared.

He said all off season that every year is different. Maybe not such a great thing to keep the team exactly the same.

  12. View from 132 Says:

I don’t like Evans but he’s right here… Brady looks for 87 continuously. A offense “full of stars” ignores most of them. Give Gronk a month off… let the offense find some new heroes.

  13. Beeej Says:

Brady put it up 55 times, averaged 8 yards per attempt, ZERO interceptions…. AND, led the team in rushing. The game was eerily similar to the Superbowl loss to Big Tuna so many years ago—EVERY TIME they got the ball, a 10 minute scoring drive

  14. dmatt Says:

I don’t blame Brady, after years of consistently catching n holding on to the ball, Gronk proved to be reliable n relentless something Mike Evan’s will never be. When Evan’s miss balls right in his hand, he pouts for a flag or gestures to come out the game due to injury.

  15. Lamarcus Says:

No one got more battered than Bernard

  16. Rod Munch Says:

    dmatt – you like turtles?

  17. Rod Munch Says:

With as much as I like seeing the Packers lose, it’s still fun watching home team fans lose.

Also, from the Bucs standpoint, it’s better to have the 49ers, 2-1.

  18. Swampbuc Says:

    Um…Rod….Packers won.

  19. Swampbuc Says:

And the Mike Evans bathers should all go swim in the ship channel with bleeding ladyfish tied to their neck.

  20. Brian Says:

This was a slap in the face. The def played poorly. It is a weak up call.

  21. Brian Says:

NE will well it next week I am sure!

  22. Brian Says:

Dean dropping the the easy INT changed the game. But over and done move on now.

  23. Oneilbuc Says:

Dmatt . I know it’s never Brady fault regardless because he’s perfect. Those kind of fumbles was always Jamies fault but not for Brady. I was never that guy who blame quarterbacks for those kind of fumbles but I was just making excuses for Jamies. It’s just 1 game to me this ain’t no big deal to me 1 lost don’t in week 3 don’t mean a team is done for the season. It’s a long season.

  24. Oneilbuc Says:

Youngbucs. The only time when you come on is when we win but you don’t come when we lose. You and Bird are normally on hear disrespecting people who disagree with yall . Lol 😆 🤣 it’s ok it’s just 1 game. But I know yall would be on hear if Jamies had a bad game because of your hate lol 😆 😂 🤣!! I told yall a running game matters but yall told me it didn’t matter because we got Brady remember!! You gonna learn that it’s not a quarterback game it’s a team game. But yall gave all the credit to Brady!!

  25. adam from ny Says:

the rams are our new nemesis…

and we must hit them in the playoffs the way they hit us…

personally i seemed to think they were going after brady’s head a bit when he became a scrambler and runner

  26. Annapope1 Says:

The defense hasn’t played well in any of these games. Almost no pressure on the quarterback. A good defense doesn’t allow that many points and that many passing yards. Just because you have Brady, doesn’t mean you don’t have to do your jobs. Especially now that people know how to hurt Gronk. You know it’s bad when Brady runs.

  27. PassingThru Says:

One reason Brady kept looking from Gronk early and often was that the Rams are worse at covering TEs than WRs. The LAR defensive secondary is playing some of the best defensive in the league. This was a game that you hoped OJ Howard was at 100%, perhaps if there’s a rematch he’ll be closer to being what he was prior to injury.

  28. SB~LV Says:

Gronk is a old flank steak pounded with a tenderizing pallet , he needs a reduced role in the offense , IMO

  29. orlbucfan Says:

I won’t miss him. More playing time for Howard, Brate and Hudson. Those 3 are young and not chopped liver.

  30. Capt.Tim Says:

Gronk is the best TE in the game.
No one else bocks, Runs, and plows thru opponents like he does.
It was stupid to send him back in the game.
Stupid to have Brady playing in the 4th quarter.
That game was gonna be a loss. Everything was being stacked against the Bucs- including the Refs.
Guess the league doesnt wanna loose the nations 2nd biggest market for a 3rd time!
Get our stars out of there. Let the backups earn their keep.
Orlbucfan- did you say” more playing time for Howard??
I hope that was sarcasm! Or powerful drugs!

  31. Ontario Mike Says:

We lost in the trenches on OF and Def. Give Brady the time Stafford had and even our reduced receivers package (AB) would have allowed us to keep up.

  32. IDROOLPEWTER&RED Says:

I think a lot of people commenting here should just take a deep breath and realize this was one game in a 17-game season. The Bucs are 2-1 and we’re not even through 1/4 of the season. Do things need to improve? Definitely, but I trust Arians and crew to get the job done.
