No, the Bucs did not release Ryan Succop. He’s on the dreaded COVID list.

And below are the transactions to come down to 53 courtesy of WTVT-TV Channel 13’s Scott Smith.

Now of course this will not be the final-53. Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians all but promised in the past week or two the Bucs will be sifted through the hundreds that were just released to see if someone is a fit for the Bucs.

    Wow Darden……serious gamble

  2. Ben the GA Buc Says:

Thanks for your service Ryan Griffin!

  3. Wild Bill Says:

More to come when the covid group come back.

  4. mark2001 Says:

So I guess the question is, who else will be released when the guys come off the Covid protocol….and will we bring in anyone else to the starting 53, and if we do, who is next in line for waivers or the practice squad.

  5. mark2001 Says:

    Beat me to it, Bill.

  6. Cobraboy Says:

Suh on the WuFlu list, too.

  7. DBS Says:

Will they put a Kicker on the practice squad? They will not keep 2.

  8. Cobraboy Says:

How many of those come back on the PS? When can all sign? On clearing waivers? 24 hours?

  9. Jmarkbuc Says:

The K , Pope, and Stuard move to PS that takes care of Covid list right?

  10. Crickett Baker Says:

I am glad to see Stuard and Dean on the roster and hope they stay. Neither had been mentioned much but I saw some very good plays made by both in the background in some preseason games. Looking real good, to me for the team!

  11. View from 132 Says:

I’m a little disappointed that Potato didn’t make it, just for the jersey.

  12. CyberDilemma Says:

Troymaine Pope is on IR. He is not on the active 53.

  13. DaBux Says:

Uh, Darden? Dude better show up like NOW. TB12 needs to do the voodoo he do to get his head in the game.

  14. Joe Says:

Troymaine Pope is on IR. He is not on the active 53.

They must have changed it because Joe just copied and pasted from a list typed by Scott Smith about an hour ago. Just checked the list again and he’s not on there. Thanks.

  15. Stanglassman Says:

Five ILB? Stuard has got to be the 53rd guy. Excluding the kicker who we all know they’re trying to sneak on the practice squad. Could be the same plan for Grant S. I don’t think the Bucs will go into the season with 5 ILB.

  16. Joe Says:

Stuard has got to be the 53rd guy.

Possible, but remember: Special teams. Joe was told by a GM once if you aren’t starting, you better play special teams. And Arians had been harping the past two weeks about how if guys make the roster, it will be because of special teams.

  17. Joe Says:

Here are the guys currently on the COVID list (as Joe is typing this at 7:44 p.m.): Suh, Earl of Watford, Succop, Nick Leverett.

  18. Medicated Pete Says:

Stuard is slower than Tom Brady. He will cost u games if on the field at any point

  19. Cobraboy Says:

I suspect McLendon, Molton and Boregalles are vulnerable when the Covid list shrinks.

  20. SB~LV Says:

    Proven ST Returner is available
    Chris Moore
    Released by Texans

  21. Joe Says:

I suspect McLendon, Molton and Boregalles

Boregalles is good as gone once Succop is healthy.

Bucs and Todd Bowles *really* like McLendon so that would be a surprise. Remember, Molchon was on the roster last year when the Earl of Watford was on the street looking for work.

  22. Diddykong Says:

I think we can do a lot better at ILB and OT. I mean backups of course!

  23. Cobraboy Says:

@MedPete: Stuard is slow, so slow you can time him with a sundial, but when was the last time you saw a dude with more “want to” and effort than him?

He’s not a gunner, so speed won’t be a huge issue.

Remember Alan Cross? In a lot of ways Stuard reminds me of him: limited skilz for the Big Stage, but a freakin’ supertanker of effort and desire.

Plus…hair. That’s gotta count for somethin’ not aerodynamic…

  24. Cobraboy Says:

    Joe says

Remember, Molchon was on the roster last year when the Earl of Watford was on the street looking for work.

True, but I got the impression they were high on Leverett for effort & flexibility across the entire OL.

  25. Medicated Pete Says:

    @CobraBoy

Players run past him like he’s standing still. Can’t keep a guy because he has a touching back-story. Our special teams coverage is already the WORST

  26. PassingThru Says:

Four players on the Reserve/Covid-19 list. That means once they return some player cuts will become necessary to pare the roster back down to 53.

  27. webster Says:

Anyone thinking dean is in any danger of being cut must be a new buc fan or has no clue as a buc fan

  28. Merlin Says:

It’s easy enough to digest after taking the time, but would be more helpful (just to me?) To sort the list of keepers by position rather than last name

  29. Bucschamp Says:

    What a roster!

  30. mg Says:

Kudos to the Bucs organization for that roster.

  31. DoooshLaRue Says:

Sorry to see Ledbetter gone. He seemed pretty solid.

  32. QuebecBucsFan Says:

Antony Auclair is free again, proven ST player, part of champion team – hope he return!

  33. Buc4evr Says:

Hope there’s a way to sneak Borregalas on to the practice squad when Succop comes back. He has a higher up side than Succop at a lower cap.

  34. Cobraboy Says:

A Pete: Not sure about a “touching” back story, and I agree about his speed on defense. I certainly hope he never gets into a game that matters.

That, however, does not mean he cannot be a solid ST player.

First and foremost a ST player has to be fearless. I suspect Stuard has that quality.

Many ST greats were not great 4-down players for numerous reasons—like speed—but excelled on ST’s. The Bucs have had a few over the tears.

I trust BA (but maybe not Armstrong so much.)

  35. adam from ny Says:

no ledbetter… and pope seems to be just floating in cyberspace

  36. Drunkinybor Says:

Why did we grant? Dude has looked 2 steps slow every single time I have seen him. He better be one of the top special teamers cuz I don’t think he going to be any good at all.

  37. Crickett Baker Says:

Pete, I suggest you re-watch the last game and count how many tackles you saw Stuard in on. He was all over the field. Granted, he rarely got there first but he was not sleeping, that’s for sure. AND I may be the only one who wants Borregalles to stay. After SOOO many horrible kickers I would be totally fine with having a back up. I remember one game many years ago. McKay was yelling at the team and walking up and down the bench. I am sure he was asking, “Have any of you ever kicked an extra point? In high school?”. Because then this stocky tackle-looking guy stepped forward to attempt it. He missed of course, like the kicker had every time, but I will never forget it.

  38. Rod Munch Says:

I’m really surprised that Grant Stuard made the roster. He looks way too slow in the preseason, and wasn’t very good at all. Not saying he can’t maybe be roster worthy in a couple of years, but I can not imagine him not making it to the practice squad.

  39. Rod Munch Says:

Looking at the list of people cut today around the NFL, and there’s no notable returns on the list. If I’m Licht, I’d still be open to trading a future pick if it meant getting a proven top returner.

  40. Tbbucs3 Says:

Ke’Shawn Vaughn better count his blessings tonight

  41. Stanglassman Says:

We all want the kicker Borregalas to get by waivers so the Bucs can sneak him on the PS. Last year they had a great kicker Greg Joseph who they didn’t protect and got nabbed by The Browns. I believe he kicks for the Vikings now for just a fraction of what Succup cost.

  42. Defense Rules Says:

Rod … I’m also surprised that Stuard made the roster, and not just because he’s ‘slow’. Keeping him meant we have 5 ILBs on our roster right now (LVD, White, Minter, Britt & Stuard). That’s 1 more than we kept throughout last year, and 1 more than we need given how reliable LVD, White and Minter have been.

At the same time however, this year we only kept 4 CBs (Davis, SMB, Dean & Delaney) and 4 Safeties (Whitehead, Winfield, Edwards & Cooper) plus Cockrell as a CB/S dual-role guy. Gut feel is that the Bucs will be looking to add 1 more DB to get us up to 10 Secondary (that’ll mean cutting down to 4 ILBs because our current 6 DT/DL & 5 OLB is probably what we’ll stick with).

And in that I wouldn’t be surprised to see Suh replace McLendon when he comes off the COVID list. Also wouldn’t be surprised to see Watford, McLendon, Griffin & Borregales all on the PS and protected week-to-week as long as they clear waivers of course.

  43. Topdoggie Says:

Didn’t they know how sliw Grant was before the draft. If he is to slow to play then there is a problem with scouting.

  44. TOM Says:

Somewhat surprised that Gill & Cooper made team over Ponder & Hagan.

  45. Cobraboy Says:

I doubt Stuard was drafted to play 4-down football. He was drafted for ST’s, where he should be fine.

  46. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

I like Ledbetter… I hope he is reserved on the practice squad

  47. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Mr Irrelevant was constantly going to the wrong side of the line and then the rb would run right by him, big part of the reason the Texican’ts put up 200 yards on the ground against us. He shows good form in tackling from BEHIND because other players got there before he did. People really need to stop rooting so hard for that “Little Engine That Could” player like Justin Watson or Mr Hair Stuard because they have an incessant need to root for that guy who really don’t have what it takes to be in the NFL. I thought Scooter was one but he proved otherwise. You put Stuard in with the 1st teamers and teams will gash us every time.

  48. Crickett Baker Says:

We shall see, all u Stuard bashers..I think I am right about him but I can always be as wrong as you seem to be.
