Bucs Could Play In Saints’ Home Opener

August 31st, 2021

The Hurricane Ida devastation of Louisiana and New Orleans is nothing to smile at no matter how much you hate the Saints.

Joe would never joke about such a happening.

But Joe is interested in the Saints, the Bucs’ big rival in the NFC South and perhaps the only team that can stand in Tampa Bay’s way to a first-round bye in this season’s playoffs.

The Saints have been relocated because of the hurricane and the team is reporting it might not return home for weeks.

In the graphic below, noted handicapper/analytics guru Warren Sharp explains how the Saints might not play at home until the Bucs come to New Orleans on Halloween.

Man, what a disadvantage for the Saints. And if this scenario plays out, what an emotional day and crowd it will be for that Bucs-Saints game.

Will JW still be starting by then is the biggest ? And this Bucs fan sees the Panthers as a dark horse to compete with us for the division title.

  2. Steven007 Says:

I love that they’re coming off a long road trip to a tough Seattle team and then facing us next.

  3. Infomeplease Says:

SH*T HAPPENS!!! Last season Bucs.. losing OJH and VV for most of the season. Top two receivers ME and CG playing through multiple injuries ect. TRUE CHAMPIONS overcome adversity!!! GO BUCS!!!!!

  4. Dlavid Says:

No sympathy here ! The way the Bucs have had BS scheduling issues for years to is strap on your boots and don’t bitch to every team ! They all face problems issues etc or some don’t , that is life !

  5. Wild Bill Says:

Hoping the Saints become the Aint’s for a long time. They had their share of glory long enough.

  6. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

With Winston s their qb they might become the Nawlean Ints!

    BigPoppa,

I agree the Panthers may very well be the biggest hurdle for us. I see both the Saints and Falcons under performing this year.

  9. Hodad Says:

Probably better for Jameis, he’s a choker at home. He’s a big reason Joe called home the den of depression. How many games did we endure watching him throw pick six’s at Ray Jay? To many still to forget.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

DooshLaRue … It all depends on how well Winston does. The Saints’ core is very solid, offensively & defensively, and Payton is an excellent coach IMO. If Winston plays as well as Bridgewater did when he filled in for Brees, they could potentially contend for a playoff spot anyplace from 12-5 to 10-7. If he throws a bunch of INTs though, they’d probably be closer to 7-10 or 8-9 on the season.

  11. Alanbucsfan Says:

If Winston is Saints QB, the Broncos will make playoffs before Saints will.

  12. Greg Says:

I don’t understand why people still live in New Orleans. I’m not trying to be cute or funny here. You know for a fact that you’re going to get it with a hurricane almost every damn year. You’re below sea level. There’s going to be flood damage every single year. I’m just stunned that people don’t move anywhere else in the United States away from New Orleans.

  13. PassingThru Says:

Bucs Could Play In Saints’ Home Opener?

Why? Hasn’t the city of New Orleans suffered enough?

  14. Alanbucsfan Says:

Greg- New Orleans has a rich cultural history and heritage. If their politicians weren’t so corrupt, they might ask the Dutch how their effective flood control techniques could be adapted.

  15. WalkdaPlank Says:

Man, everywhere I look on these interwebs nearly EVERYONE thinks Jameis is in for a huge year with the Aints.

“The Bucs made him throw too much”
“He’s a Heisman Trophy, National Champion, No. 1 Overall pick (like that means anything)”

    And my personal favorite

“He had lasik so everything is fixed now! 5,000 yards and 50 TD’s!”

Same excuses you saw around these parts from the Jameis Uber Apolgists Fan Club. This man wasted 5 years of our time and some people still haven’t had enough. But hey, if he had stunk it up earlier and gotten cut maybe we don’t land Brady and win the SB, so he’s got that going for him.

  16. Greg Says:

Walkdaplank Why is it all the Winston fans forget about multiple women with sexual assault accusations that he had to write out multiple checks to? Why do you forget that he led the league and turnovers which hurt your team more than his touchdowns help the team? The Buccaneers bent over backwards to try to make Winston work out.

  17. Greg Says:

Alanbucsfan I agree with you on the musical culture but the rich heritage involves slavery and a very shady local government. I love your comment about the flooding systems because you’re right they should’ve had that worked out decades ago. A rich heritage and good music is no reason to risk you or your families lives staying in hurricane alley. I’m tired of hearing the desperate cries for people to send money to hurricane relief when they know what’s going to happen again next year. We need to fix it enough with his thoughts and prayers crap.

  18. Tye Says:

Would NOT be surprised if JW has been replaced at QB by that time..

  19. Darin Says:

For sure nothing to joke about Joe. I hate the Saints more than most but the people of new orleans are great folks. Much nicer people as a whole than Tampa. Love to see them cry when the Bucs stomp em tho. Prayers to that area!

  20. View from 132 Says:

How about an open thread for cuts and signings around the league? I know ol’ Cam Newton is long gone from the NFC South, but no one saw that coming. I’m sure they’ll be other surprises.

  21. Oneilbuc Says:

All yall said Jamies wasn’t going to win the job and he did . Then people like Greg still trying to bring up something over 6 years old with no proof of him doing anything wrong , but can forget what big Ben was accused of lol 😂 !!! I have no problem with Jamies or any other player that’s not on the bucs roster. You can’t name 1 quarterback that this team develop . Yall look for other teams legendary players and try to make them a bucs for life!! That’s why most of yall have no faith in Trask. We need to develop our own quarterback first then yall can bash the ones the bucs drafted in the pass . Until then all yall need shut up bashing Jamies or any other former bucs quarterback!!!

  22. Bojim Says:

Greg. How many people can afford to just pick up and move. And just how many times have you donated to anyone?

  23. Rod Munch Says:

New Orleans itself wasn’t really hit by this, the suburbs to the west of the city had some good damage, but New Orleans itself had moderate damage, at most. The city doesn’t have power, and that’s a huge issue in a lawless crime ridden cesspool like New Orleans, but once the power is back up, they should be mostly ready to go, and according to the latest reports, the city should start seeing the power turned on starting tomorrow. Not sure why they’d be cancelling stuff that far out unless there is a huge massive amount of damage that the media is hiding – and I doubt that is the case. Now, again, west of the city, in some of the suburbs, they got it pretty good, but you wouldn’t cancel Bucs games if Tampa was OK but Oldsmar had flooding.

  24. Rod Munch Says:

View from 132 – if you listen to the media in Boston, there was quite a bit of talk about Cam getting cut if Jones looked good, because Cam was chirping quite a bit. Last year they say he was the ultimate teammate, but this year he’s been talking a lot of trash, and they were pretty much expecting him to get cut if Jones won the job.

  25. Mike Johnson Says:

Ok mr genius munch, tell my friend in new orleans who lost his roof, car and garage that was moderate damage.

  26. View from 132 Says:

Ok Rod, but “media in Boston” is certainly not something I’ll tune in to hear soon… unless of course you mean ESPN during a Rays game.

  27. Merlin Says:

JW is going to throw for a ton of yards, probably 30+td and flirt with 20 Int. He won’t get benched unless he throws 3 picks 2 games in a row early in the season

  28. Hissylizzard Says:

New Orleans shouldnt be any trouble with the qb they have.though they may make a change by then
