“There’s Not As Many Smart People As You Think”

July 21st, 2021

Driven.

In some people’s eyes, running an NFL or college football team means there may only be a handful of folks walking the earth who know as much or more about building one.

Then you realize Lovie Smith continues to find employment.

Tom Brady is here to explain to NFL fans that not everyone is Al Davis, Bill Walsh or Bill Belicheat.

Brady, of course, made news this summer on an HBO show where he admitted he was upset an unnamed NFL shot-caller didn’t want Brady when he was a free agent. And Brady explained his outrage saying, “You’re sticking with that motherf@cker?”

And as far as Brady is concerned, that NFL employee will forever be unnamed.

Brady is scheduled to have a townhall-format with Jim Gray broadcast tonight on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio. SiriusXM is releasing interview clips and Brady discussing getting blown off by an unknown NFL type is among them.

You can tell Brady is still steamed at his rejection and said, yeah, there are teams out there that would even reject Wayne Gretzky or Michael Jordan.

“What you realize is that there’s not as many smart people as you think,” Brady said.

And while Brady admitted he really wants to stick it to the club that told him to go take a hike, he equally wants to ball out for the team that had faith in him.

That would be your Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  1. Medicated Pete Says:

Most people are bamboozled by thinking

  2. Defense Rules Says:

Really like what Brady said about not letting the team (the Bucs) down that did bet on him. Much prefer that type of motivation over the opposite (showing those who passed on him what they missed).

  3. Bucs Bro Says:

Hearing Byron Leftwich’s confused press conferences on why he doesn’t use as much play action reinforces Brady’s quote and how sadly true it is

  4. Max Vasher Says:

Second paragraph, first sentence had me literally laughing out loud. Should have seen that line coming knowing Joe, but I didn’t and it was sweet. The older I get the more I have come to the same conclusion that Brady makes here.

@”What you realize is that there’s not as many smart people as you think.” TomBrady is still using the teams that weren’t interested in signing him last year as motivation. 😤..”

so he wanted ALL NFL teams bagging him, while he is picking the TEAM…..??!!!!!
if this discussion is still going, don’t look like he is acting like a bitch???!!!
Enough Tommy boy, you are the GOAT, that is clear, PLEASE don’t bitch no more…time for football. 👶👶👶

  6. SufferingSince76 Says:

Whatever he uses for motivation is fine by me.

  7. ClodHopper Says:

I think you’ll find this to be true everywhere, even in fortune 500 companies.

I wonder if this revelation of Brady’s is the conclusion he drew after that experience, or did he begin to acquire it while working under Belacheat in the later stages? Heck, did he reach this conclusion after this draft experience? In any event, he is correct.

  9. BucsBeBack (Artist formally known as: BringBucsBack) Says:

    “His” draft experience.

  10. Scott Says:

i like the lovie smith part that guy even got fired from illinois- when he was the coach we would be behind by 4 touchdowns after 1 quarter or by 50 to atlanta at half still people believed in him LOL but now we have excellent coach GO BUCS

  11. Youngbucs Says:

Yea bunch of dummies out here🐐

  12. SteveK Says:

“Hey; you don’t want Wayne Gretzky or Michael Jordan on your team.”

-TB12 on other Teams not wanting his services.

Add Brady to that sentence. Go Bucs! Do it again, I’m not too scared to sit back and enjoy it all over again.

  13. Bojim Says:

    He picked the right team

  14. SteveK Says:

Brady was the missing piece and the GOAT helped unlock our team’s potential. I believe him where he is honed in to improve this year and crank it up. I hope bc of his immense leadership skills, more savvy vets seek out our roster for depth and be a part of the Bucs.

  15. Doug p Says:

That’s why he’s the goat!! He’s the ultimate competitor so fun to watch. Go bucs!!!

  16. SteveK Says:

    Lol lovie!

    Love it Joe!

Hope to make a draft party or JBF party
One day, and cut it up w the Joe’s and Ira and listen to all the hilarious nonsense from the last decade.

  17. SB Says:

    Arrogance? or Confidence?
    Or Both?!

Just keep bringing it Tom…. until the wheels fall off.

  20. Buc1987 Says:

SteveK….we’re doing this all over again.

  21. gotbbucs Says:

That’s because for the most part, having a job in the NFL has way more to do with who your dad is and who you know.
How else does one explain people like Bruce Allen continuing to find work, or Matt Gase, or Lovie Smith, and the list goes on and on and on.
Coaches love familiarity so they’ll keep on hiring people they’ve worked with before no matter how terrible they are. Front office types for the most part get hired based on the tree they grew from. Anybody and everybody that has ever worked for the Patriots organization gets hired. Even if all you ever did is scrub Belichick’s toilet, NFL owners will hope that his excrement got caught under a finger nail and thus making them a qualified NFL scout.

It’s really almost some sort of sick inbred family. Eventually some chromosomes fall through the cracks and you get an NFL executive that can only communicate with whistles and dog barks, or a Mark Davis or Jim Irsay is born.

  22. Buczilla Says:

Unless you were running the Chiefs, Seahawks, or Packers last year, you would have been an idiot to say no to Brady.

  23. Slugglife Says:

    Sick inbred family! Perfectly stated.

  24. Disease Says:

I have referenced this for many years as the dumb jock disease!! We anoint some of these coaches and personnel people and then you take the case of a rehiring of Lovie Smith and it fully supports the dumb jock disease!!! And then sometimes there’s a tweener like a Mike Smith who knows x ‘s & O’ s in an out but he can’t relay it or teach it to the players ,,at all !!

  25. ItzOK Says:

We will find out in ten years that Brady made all of these stories up. Just reminds me of all the stories that came out about Jordan making up slights that kept him motivated. Keeping the Mother F&ucker anonymous is genius. Itz awesome I hope everyone and every thing pisses him off just to make him want to win the next ring. I love all of these stories.

  26. Listnfrmafar Says:

It’s about time, poor guy has been neutered for 10 years. You are the best so why not let the world know it?
