Justin Watson Possibly Out Four Months

July 24th, 2021

Bucs WR Justin Watson.

Well, at least we now know why Justin Watson won’t be suiting up for training camp practice Sunday morning.

No less of an authority than Adam Schefter of BSPN brings news that Watson recently had knee surgery. He could be out until Thanksgiving, Schefter typed on Twitter.

Well, four months from tomorrow would be Thanksgiving Weekend. Watson is on the final year of his rookie contract, and he’s a bubble guy at that.

Joe is wondering now if we’ve seen the last of Watson in a Bucs uniform? Remember, he was inactive for three of the Bucs’ four postseason games last season. Watson, a good special teams player, played only against the Packers in the playoffs where he logged 17 special teams snaps and had one tackle.

He gone. My wife left b/c i was always on the PUP list

  2. Colin in Canda Says:

We’ll see where we’re at when hes healthy. He could be waived and added to the practice squad or activated because another receiver is put on IR. I dont think he would have made the 53 out of camp so this may be the best way to keep him on the team. Special teams insurance.

  3. mark2001 Says:

I’ll give you credit Pete…few guys would be man enough to admit that.

  4. Marine Buc Says:

Adios amigo. You can’t make the club if your always stuck in the tub…

Perhaps he could return mid season if we are thin at WR again.

  5. Bojim Says:

Want him to make it but…

  6. Leighroy Says:

Well he’s not going anywhere for 4 months, if he can be hid away on the PUP list for that long.

  7. Drunkinybor Says:

(boys 2 men) Its so haaaaarrrrrrd to say goodbyyyyeeeeeeee! Byeeeeeeee

  8. Joe in Michigan Says:

Get well soon, Justin Watson. If/when you come back, I hope you’ve learned to run crisper routes.

  9. Beeej Says:

Hope the guy at least gets paid

  10. Brandon Says:

This may actually help him. He will be put on IR with the possibility to return. By Thanksgiving, we may have some injuries and be can step back in. Without the injury, he may hVe gotten cut out of training camp.

  11. Slugglife Says:

    Good one Pete.

A couple of them left me because that was the only way I could get rid of them. I should have been an actor. Gotta do what you gotta do.

  12. SOEbuc Says:

That’s unfortunate he was our leading tackler on ST.

  13. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

    Pete you’re a funny dude!

  14. Bojim Says:

I like him but he is gone. 🙁

  15. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Wow they loved them some Slugglife!🤣 Gotta fake bad bed capabilities to get rid of them. Priceless!!!💎💎💎

  16. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Now #18 Tyler Johnson will take his routes and Jaelen can get some game time!

  17. SOEbuc Says:

Is time for Jaelen to show up. Scotty is hot for a trade next year.

  18. Redblud Says:

David, Johnson was already well in front of Watson, and Darden easily in front of him. Don’t think Watson had any chance to make this team unless 2-3 WRs got hurt.

  19. Wild Bill Says:

Nice guy who gives his all but the Bucs have added too many more talented receivers and also other talented rookies who can do the special teams role. A guy who is mostly a good “gunner” is a luxury now. Better to fill the spot with a player that has future starter possibility. Final roster cuts will be brutal.

  20. Cobraboy Says:

Was gonna be tough for him anyway.
