Cam Brate, Justin Watson On PUP List

July 24th, 2021

It seems two Bucs players will begin training camp inactive.

Bucs tight end Cam Brate and backup wide receiver Justin Watson were placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list today.

The Bucs did not release specifics.

Brate sure seemed in good spirits at the ring ceremony Thursday night based on various photos and videos of the event floating on social media. He was the same way at the White House on Tuesday.

This isn’t good for Watson. Already a bubble player, Watson saw his playing time plummet last season after two of Tom Brady’s passes targeting Watson were returned for pick-sixes. Additionally, the Bucs traded up into the fourth round this spring to draft speedy receiver/return man Jaelon Darden.

If any Bucs reserve player needed the time to demonstrate he belongs on the final 53-man roster this fall, it is Watson.

Hate to see Brate on the PUP list. Hope he’ll be back and ready for the season.

    What in tarnation?

  3. Colin in Canada Says:

The patriots are known for stashing healthy guys on the PUP to keep them as insurance until week 6. Could be a good way to keep 4 TEs and 7 WRs around.

  4. Beeej Says:

aHA! CLEARLY, our plan to get Tebow is coming along

  5. Anonymous Says:

Should have drafted a tight end Brate and Howard are just too fragile. Gronk is the man.

ESPN said Watson had a knee surgery and is out for 4 months

I won’t loose any sleep over JWatson because he hasn’t done nothing but sit back n allow the cb to pick passes thrown to him that at the bare minimum he could’ve come back to the ball to prevent the picks. He’s too passive and has a deer in the headlight type mentality. Brate has been consistent n reliable. He’s a keeper.
    My on the bubble squad:
JWatson- No heart or desire, 4 yrs n what have u done for me lately?
OJ Howard- No heart or desire, 4 yrs n what have u done for me lately?
Jamel Dean-a few good plays here n there does not exempt him from the bubble squad.
Anthony Nelson- need to step it up n make use of that 6’7 height advantage. It’s now or never.
BGabbeth- he’s really 3rd string or practice squad material. Due to the draft pick, we may have to “Trask” him.

Much ado about nothing… Brate will be gear up come Season opener… just being a team player… this Cap shat needs to go… How bout they fire Goodell and give every NFL team more Cap Space…. 🙋🏼‍♂️ I will be Commish for $1million and 🍻👍🏻🇺🇸

Dam Watson I think you’re a goner. You did produce when given opportunities good luck.

  11. Bojim Says:

    Brates going no where

  12. Leighroy Says:

dmatt, your list is so bogus that you’ve landed on our bubble squad.

  13. Brandon Says:

Dmatt… You’re on the bubble. Dean is excellent. Brate is dependable. How does Watson have no heart or desire when he’s our best special teams gunner? Being a gunner is all heart and courage. Gabbert is easily our 2nr best QB. Griffin is gone if nobody gets hurt. Guaranteed.

  14. Irishmist Says:

Hopefully by the time OJ is ready to go on the PUP list, Brate will be ready to come off.

  15. Bojim Says:

All Brate does is catch the ball. Throw him away.
