“Breaking Out The Inner Child In Me”

June 3rd, 2021

Candid and revealing self-reflection today from Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett.

Shaq may have taken over the title of best quote on the Buccaneers. Who could forget his epic rant about his personal goals last month.

Today, Shaq was talking to The Rich Eisen Show and answered a question about when the Bucs turned on the gas last season and when Shaq himself got in a groove.

For the Bucs, it was halftime of the Chiefs game on Thanksgiving weekend. For Shaq personally, he acknowledged that he wasn’t playing to his standards until deep into January.

“I don’t really think I hit the gas until the Saints playoff game, is when I was able to find my rhythm and get going,” Shaq began.

“Like the way I judge my play on the field, the Saints game is when I started playing the way I wanted to play, playing the way that I wanted to play and stop thinking too much and just started breaking out the inner child in me. Like, ‘Man, this opportunity is too big to let it pass me by.’ So make sure I do everything possible to help the team get to the Super Bowl and win the Super Bowl. Because going to the playoffs is fun, but nobody wants to go to the playoffs and just lose and start all over again next year. So that was like my main thing: ‘I don’t want to start over next year without being a champion.’ I wanted to will the team to victory as much as I could.”

Joe is drooling, and it’s not the tray of Hooters wings and the ice cold Big Storm Bromosa next to the keyboard.

Imagine if Shaq has uncovered the mental keys to his game that will now allow him to play consistently like he did in the playoffs –and in 2019?

(Joe hates including 2019, because opponents then largely weren’t keying on Shaq from the season-opening kickoff.)

Man, if 28-year-old Shaq has found what it takes to up his game, the Bucs are going to be crazy hard to beat.

The Bucs’ Defense currently ranks 2nd in FF.
I will probably be drafting them in the 10th round. Which I NEVER draft a Defense until the 13th.
Funny thing is Tom Brady only ranks 10th among QBs. I don’t get it. The Bucs O will be the highest scoring offense in the NFL this season.
Brady will be the ONLY Bucs Offensive player I draft. He should be good for at least 3TDs a game with an average of around 300 yards.

Damn it took that long to get going, in the playoffs after the regular season is over. Please don’t be saying that again after this season. That’s not really a positive statement
