“Cold Games” On Lavonte David’s Mind

May 13th, 2021

Every player looks at a new schedule differently.

Tom Brady is probably drooling seeing the Belicheats in New England on Sunday night, Oct. 3.

Lavonte David has said publicly that he hates the Saints, but last night on NFL Network, David acknowledged that his first look at the schedule is for “cold games.” David smiled and said he’s a South Florida guy and, apparently, isn’t a fan of freezing his ass off.

That cold game David noted was Jan. 2 at the Jets. Joe will add it will be David’s first time back to the Meadowlands since his final-seconds debacle on opening day of 2013.

During the broadcast, Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner pressed David on whether he looks at the new Bucs schedule and thinks the Bucs can go undefeated. ”You came hot at me quick,” David replied, laughing off Warner’s question and saying every game is tough in the NFL.

David said the Bucs will try to maintain their ”underdog mentality” and certainly will put in the work.

LVD is just such a stud. All the torture he endured, from Schiano to Louvre to Mike Big Head Smith, to JaMiss eating a W and then coughing up the also with all his picks – to get a ring – so happy for him.

  2. Medicated Pete Says:

He grew up in Miami w/ no air conditioning probably. You never get used to the cold although he did play college football up north & Nebraska & Kansas get insanely cold

  3. Dean Bucs fan for life!!! Says:

Lavonte David is a class act, a great Buc, and will go down in Buccaneers history as one of the great players! He is a WINNER!!! Cold weather of hot weather, he has endured enough to know how to win! Go Lavonte! Go Bucs!

  4. Casual Observer Says:

I like the way he and White have jelled. Together they are a more formidable team than viewed individually, imo. What a LB duo the Bucs have.

  5. DrunkInYbor Says:

I still think that call was questionable. But I will agree there was no reason even trying to lay a hit.

  6. based weeb Says:

Pete, why would you say he probably had no a/c growing up in Miami? Please don’t say it’s for why I think you’re saying it

  7. MarkInLargo Says:

based weeb, I grew up in St Pete with no AC, only a few box fans. Didn’t have AC until I went to college and had AC in the dorm. It can be done.

  8. SufferingSince76 Says:

I grew up in Central Florida with no a/c and it sucked!!! Not sure what it has to do with hating cold weather, though.

I grew up in Central Florida with no a/c and it sucked. Not sure what it has to do with hating cold weather though. I prayed for cold weather!

  10. Hope springs eternal Says:

There are so many solid guys on the bucs team. All they needed was competent leadership. Brady sets the example for the team to follow.

  11. Ftmyersbuc Says:

Pretty sure david played mnf at the Meadowlands last year against the giants. I believe he told daniel Jones to quote “count your blessings bit**” after he dropped a game winning int.

  12. Curse of Gruden Says:

based weeb: I grew up in Nokomis without a/c. The summers were long. There were a few other families that I knew who were without a/c, but not many. My parents didn’t start using air conditioning until after I moved out!

  13. Old School Nole Says:

MarkinLargo-you had A/C in the dorm? Must be a youngster. 😀

  14. cmurda Says:

When you old timers walked to school….. Was it uphill both ways? In the snow?

  15. HeyItsAdam Says:

I haven’t thought about that play in such a long time. I went back and re-watched it on YouTube. Pathetic to watch Geno Smith flop like a dead fish on a pier like that. And he looks so smug on sidelines afterwards. Whoever that Jet was who punched him out in the locker room … thanks.

Quit worrying about the weather and just DO WHAT YOU DO…….modern under garmet technology is really good……we’ve been to Scotland twice in Octorber, 45 degrees, wind, no worries, some simple layering and you’re good to go….
