The Road To Glory

February 7th, 2021

Bucs DC Todd Bowles.

Now this is what Joe calls “finishing the job.”

When the Bucs limped off to the bye week, licking their fresh wounds after getting lit up after Thanksgiving by the Chiefs (in the first quarter), there was no way of forseeing this Super Bowl run.

Beating the Vikings was nice, though it wasn’t easy. Blasting the Dixie Chicks (twice) and the lousy Lions was fun, but what the hell did that prove?

A tough out against Washington and their backup XFL quarterback, who torched the Bucs defense, scared the life out of Joe.

Then the Bucs swept the remainder of the postseason, a run that will go down in Bucs lore. They chased Drew Brees into likely retirement. They shamed NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers in his own refrigerator of a home stadium. And then they kept the Chiefs out of the end zone.

How wild is that? To win the Super Bowl the Bucs kept the most dangerous offense in the NFL out of the end zone. Holy Flirkingschmidt!

As much as we remember and embrace the glory years Bucs for their defense, that defense never had a better showing.

Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles needs a street named after him. Or at least a fancy yacht to park along the Riverwalk.

Joe tweet that clown JW and tell him that our super bowls “W” taste goooood!!

  2. Miller5252 Says:

Plus they were the first team to host a Super Bowl and didn’t blow it. Showed how good this team can be. I honestly didn’t think at the end of the season they’d do it, but next year they could be a team that could only lose 2-3 games, just needed time to gel. But they gelled when it mattered and look out for this team next year! Gonna be special couple of years!!

  3. NaplesBucsFan Says:

The DEFENSE is the MVP of the entire playoffs!!! Rough against WTF but to plow through NO, GB and KC?!?!?! DAY-UM!!!

  4. Colonel Angus Says:

Keep dogging that XFL Qb, he played the best out of the 3 future HOFers we crushed afterwards. Heincke played his a$$ off and earned himself a payday next year. Give the man respect.

  5. Tarheel Buc Says:

Taylor heinicke in shambles at that headline.

  6. Tvan101 Says:

Were realist at? Hahahahahahaha the sheep are those who bet against Brady.

  7. Nate Dawg Says:

Bucs dominated three former mvp QBs and put up over 30 points… showcasing skills on all three sides of the ball. To all those that toiled in the basement for 13 years, reading Joebucsfan.com every day, you’ve earned it!!!!!

  8. 813bucboi Says:

    3 future HOFers choked

    1 GOAT…THATS TOM

    GO BUCS

  9. FortMyersDave Says:

I am so glad that the Falcons, Lions and whatever other team had Bowles lined up for an interview did not hire him! Never know what that could have done for game preparation and attitude. The stars were aligned tonight for our Bucs to take out the former champ decisively. Just watched Berman blubbering how the Chiefs lost the game, kind of blaming Reid’s kid. Once upon a time old Berman used to pick the Bucs regularly back in the ’90s when the old dude still had all his marbles and had the nick names like “You’re in good hands with Allstott”. Now he is irrelevent.

  10. Go Bucs! Says:

Again, we beat Brees, Rodgers, and Mahommes, three likely Hall of Famers! And still, Taylor Heinicke played the best against us! We stepped th F UP!

The Super Bowl XXXVII team was great. But this team is far much better overall. I simply can’t see one single weak link
    QB, the GOAT
RB, Playoff Lenny and RoJo were dominant
WB, perhaps the best corps ever
TE, Gronk is a freak of nature, Brate is great and OJ can improve a lot
OL, the #1 in the NFL
    OLB, two beasts
DL, VV is THE best NT in the NFL, Suh is HOF material and Gholston is an elite run stuffer
Linebackers, the best tandem in the game. LVD finally got the glory he always deserved and Devin White is unbelievable, what a stud
CB, Carlton Davis is a shut down corner, SMB is again a star in the rise and Jamel Dean has a sky high ceiling
Safeties, Antoine Winfield Jr will terrorize in the secondary for the foreseeable future, Jordan Whitehead has an amazing hitting power and Mike Edwards proved once again that he’s a baller
STs, Ryan Succop is money (thank you, Lord), Bradley Pinion is very good and the rest of the corps was competent when it matters the most
The coaching staff was great in the playoffs and Jason Licht deserves a lot of credit for an awesome job this season. Both free agency and the draft were superb.
And the Bucs’ fans, we deserved this moment of joy. We went through a lot and still kept supporting our beloved club.
I’m so happy and so proud!!!!

    Eating a huge W!

  13. Winny Testaverde Says:

Heineke didn’t have to face Devin White. White would have made a huge difference in that game. What a season!!!

  14. FrankPillow Says:

    Todd Bowles= ring of honor

The single most impressive coordination of D in franchise history (sorry Monty and 99 Rams game)…let’s all please recognize this for what it is…take a bow Todd and the entire D coaching staff. Wow. And to the players for relentless and flawless execution. Fat Andy had no answers.

  15. Sesteprenelicus Says:

Maybe Rodgers and Mahomes should stop doing terrible State Farm commercials and do more of whatever Brady does instead. Everybody wins.

  16. firethecannons Says:

Defensive effort in this superbowl was a thing of beauty, the secondary was playing fantastic as was the front seven–really working in unison. Hand it to Todd Bowles, so many pundits did not give the Bucs a chance. Watching mahomes on the run and getting chased down over and over and winging it down field to see our secondary in tight coverage and not allow receptions. perfect!

  17. David Says:

Are BL and Todd Bowles coming back?

  18. Godlovesbucs Says:

David- where would they go? No head coaching opportunities in NFL are left. So they would either retire or go to college. Highly doubt either option.

  19. unbelievable Says:

    Hats off to the defense!

Best defensive performance they’ve ever had. Truly incredible.

Didn’t even allow a single touchdown!

    Super Bowl Champions! Woooooooo!!!!!!!!

  20. adam from ny Says:

    wow mr. bowles…

you should have just sent the chief a memorandum a week ago…

saying: “don’t even bother taking the trip, i got this”

a white flag forfeiture was almost in order…

way to serve up a game plan…

and kudos to the soldiers who carried it out

  21. adam from ny Says:

  22. Perimeter Blocker Says:

Would love to hear from Steve Smith??? Joe please find a quote from this dude!!!! Lol

  23. DaBux Says:

How many GM’s are regretting not hiring Bowles now…thank God he’s on our team.

  24. Aceofaerospace Says:

The whole team ate W’s, except JPP, who of course ate VW’s. That being said, I’m going to make a bold prediction and say “this” super Bowl winning team will not go 7-9 next year. They will start their off season workouts absolutely expecting to go back to the Super Bowl. That’s exciting. I can’t wait for it to return.

  25. Pickgrin Says:

“there was no way of forseeing this Super Bowl run”

Actually Tony Romo totally called it at the end of the 1st Chiefs game that these were the 2 Super Bowl teams.

  26. Owlykat Says:

Bowles for Bucs Head Coach when BA retires! Let him know Glazers so he sticks here now!
