The Moment Bruce Arians Thought The Bucs Could Make A Run

February 22nd, 2021

Bye-week awakening

For a team that wins a Super Bowl, there always seems to be a moment in the season when players step back and realize they are on the cusp of doing something special.

The 2020 Bucs were no different. Last week, when Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians appeared on “The Herd” hosted by Colin Cowherd, seen weekdays on FS1, he said that moment for him came as the Bucs entered the bye week.

It was odd timing for the light bulb to go on. The Bucs had just lost three of four including an alley-beating at home by the slimy Saints. That four-game stretch, however, ended with two close losses at home to playoff teams including the defending Super Bowl champs.

It was then Arians thought, despite the losses, the Bucs can hang with anyone and with a little luck, can start eating W’s.

“I think it was right after the loss to the Chiefs,” Arians said of when the heavens opened for him. “We had lost to the Rams by three, lost to the Chiefs by three and we had an open date. ‘Dude,’ I said to the players. ‘You know how close we are? Let’s get rested up and let’s get ready for this last run.’

“There was a total belief in our entire organization that we were going to get this done.”

Now Joe thinks the entire organization thinking the Bucs would run the table after losing to the Chiefs and win a Super Bowl is a bit haughty, but Joe gets where Arians is coming from.

The Bucs realized they could hang with playoff teams. They had already beaten Green Bay. The only team that had their number was the slimy Saints.

With a little bit better coaching and a play here or there, they could beat most of these teams.

As it turned out, they didn’t lost a game since that November defeat to Kansas City.

It’s kinda funny that the last team they lost to and the last team they beat is Kansas City.

The Bucs final 8 games all ended with the Bucs in a Victory formation. Most of those were 4 down victory formations. This team was excellent at choking out other teams at the end of games. They learned how to win. GO BUCS!!!!

Considering that Bucs had to play wild card weekend, the bye came at a perfect time.

Payton was the best coach Bucs played against all season. He is familiar with most of Bucs personal and Bucs ability to be unable to adjust earlier in the season was a formula for a.good ass whipping. Pay back is a bitch, right Tyree?

Not a fan of Arians,he just seems to run his mouth alot.Dont see how he has any cred as a qb developer….the guys he worked with before coaching at Az were already good….watched him at AZ and when Palmer went down,so did the team.Who would start Ryan Lindley at qb?…lol….and he couldn’t do anything with Winston either….Brady made the team..the coach shouldve been the one watching film and telling the players what to do to win,not Brady. They dont need Arians….wondering if Mahommes will ever ev

Possibly you should be at the helm Hissy? You obviously know more than BA. I’m kidding! I don’t believe you have a grasp of how things work. Try a season in Pop Warner and report back.

Sure. I love when the consensus in the entire NFL and every player that’s ever played for him says he’s an awesome coach but some troll on the Internet comes along and says he knows better. 😂

    Thanks for the comic relief

I must say, reading the comments the last 10 weeks or so, has been great. No trolls anywhere to see, just actual fans of the team. And what a team it is! Go Bucs!

Tom Brady’s Leadership brought a new Hope in the Bucs. His attitude with absolutely imperative to the Bucs winning the Super Bowl.
