So, About That Defensive Backfield

February 7th, 2021

Whoops!

Later in the week Joe is going to troll so many people in the national media that mocked the Bucs. But here is a taste.

Joe has nothing against Cynthia Frelund, the analytics nerd of NFL Network who looks like anything but a nerd. She looks much more like an Instagram influencer.

Frelund is great to look at but her analysis, based on her “models,” is more often closer to trash than it is accurate. For example, take her preseason prediction that the Bucs had the No. 32-ranked secondary in the NFL.

That’s right. The worst.

Several Bucs defensive backs said through the season that Frelund’s evaluation gave them extra motivation.

Well, that same weakarse secondary — in Frelund’s models (?) — just picked Pat Mahomes off twice and kept him out of the end zone.

Frelund has had awful football takes before and some at the expense of the Bucs. But to be this far off, the only thing Joe can say is that maybe Frelund needs to update her software.

  3. Alaskabuc Says:

    Serve ‘em crow Joe!

  4. SKBucsfan Says:

Please do Joe. I tried reading some KC fan pages and i didn’t see them showing any disrespect to the Bucs. They just thought they were too strong to lose. Lol. I guess they were wrong.

  5. Brandon Says:

Been saying for two years… best young trio of CBs in the NFL… now best trio of CBs in the NFL and the best young DBs in the league… all six of them.

  6. Scottish bucbob Says:

Or as bad as turncoat Kyle Brandt.😯😯😯😯

  7. Leighroy Says:

The t*ts strapped to a hologram algorithm?! Spare me.

  8. DoooshLaRue Says:

Just hope that they don’t moderate your posts you…. frustrating ya know!

  9. Coburn Says:

    Gotta call out Steve Smith…
Aww I’ll forget you Cynthia… Come to daddy…
But yeah our secondary still young and grew up fast. Ultimately game was won in trenches… Mahommes running for his life, but secondary was disciplined and didn’t let him improvise too much. Offseason only big need I can even see is getting younger with the dline and edge. Suh and jpp old but still got it… Just some youth injection

  10. tbbucs3 Says:

At least shes something to look at…..

  11. BillyBucFan Says:

Can’t stand that honker of a nose anyway.

  12. Nate Dawg Says:

Give us the Steve Smith Bucs gonna be run post!!!!!!!!

  13. DBS Says:

The secondary improved in the later part of the year. But they were the weak link getting roasted and burnt for a long time. Just. because they are playing better now does not mean opinions were wrong at a point in time. I’m fact they were the same on this site at a point in the season as I remember.

  14. Fernando Diaz Says:

cut her face to spite her nose

  15. EA Says:

Can’t wait for that clown Nick Wright to get called out

  16. FortMyersDave Says:

@Scottish bucbob: Kyle Brandt’s claim to fame after playing football at Princeton was a role in MTV’s real world and then being a producer on the Jim Rome show where his claim to fame was calling Rome live on the air while incoherently drunk at Wrigley Field and other drunken escapades that Rome found amusing. That got him this job opposite Kay Adams, not his knowledge of the NFL.

  17. Miller5252 Says:

Berman with ESPN just blamed the car wreck on the chiefs not wining tonight. Bucs still get no respect! Berman I think has never liked the Bucs

  18. kgh4life Says:

I don’t take those big networks so-called NFL analysts seriously. It seems they just pull stuff out their you now what and think they did a good job, the majority of them are just clowns, looking at you Steve Smith Sr.

  19. Coburn Says:

Oh man Miller. After half time it was the refs, then the tackles being out (only would have helped so much) and then yeah that too

  20. ocala Says:

Joe…Its based on science according to her

  21. Coburn Says:

Would have been nice for Scotty to get a token catch.. did he even see the field? But he gets a ring and was a huge part of getting to the game

  22. Coburn Says:

Lavonte, Evans savour every moment… You guys have earned it

  23. Chimichango Says:

    Lol, it’s time to collect☠️☠️

  24. WorstFans Says:

My Fing god we won/ just sunk in lol

  25. 813bucboi Says:

Secondary will be a strength next year

    GO BUCS

  26. Doctor Stroud Says:

This “expert” told the Kansas City Star: “I’m going with that Tyrann Mathieu is going to be the Super Bowl MVP. You know why? Because this team has this second-lowest completion percentage allowed to deep passes, 10-plus air-yard passes. You know why? Honey Badger. He’s everywhere, he’s gonna make a key interception at a key time, win the game. This is a bold prediction, this is how you make a bold prediction. Tyrann Mathieu, Super Bowl MVP.”

    Talk about proprioception!

  27. Duane Says:

The “experts” got it wrong all season long with the exception of Skip Baylis. They based their analysis off of stats, and likely only watched the prime time games. We all know where paying attention to stats gets you…

  28. Rene Says:

She is hot! looks like a model. I really do not believe she runs one.

  29. firethecannons Says:

I thought our secondary had the best game of the season, defense was a well oiled machine!

  30. firethecannons Says:

cynthia frelunds results have been hot garbage over and over

  31. ItzOK Says:

her and every other moron on tv who swore the chiefs were too good. What a joke, look what happes when you cant protect your qb and the other teams qb is perfect especially on 3rd down. FCK her

  32. lambchop Says:

    @Scottish Bucbob,

    Don’t forget Peter too.

And Frelund’s analysis is as good as a 1 year old throwing toys and landing on random spots. Sports is one thing that is hard to predict. You cannot measure heart, desire, passion, anger, revenge. There are certain things that are just immeasurable. That’s why we play the game.

  33. Mike Says:

Only 20% of experts in ESPN and NFL.com predicted a win for the Chiefs and they are mostly covering the Bucs, Patriots, and teams that recently lost to the Bucs. I guess other experts did not seriously do the homework.

  34. mark2001 Says:

Surprised she could “smell” a Bucs victory.

  35. mark2001 Says:

Loved what Cowher had to say, most of all. The Bucs were the most complete team in the NFL this year.

  36. FairMinded Says:

Preseason? During preseason and maybe even early in the season I think anyone would have ranked us very very low to be fair. The team and coaches put the work in and it paid off…can’t really blame anyone for giving them accurate grades before they actually proved anything

  37. Kentucky Buc Says:

@Mark2001. Yes sir. They are the best overall team because they spread the money out. These teams with the 4-5 high priced players have no money for the rest of the team. Great job by the front office.

  38. Court XXXVII Says:

Where’s “Defense Rules?” Missing your posts. So happy for the Bucs — and for all of us. I am still wondering if this win is real. Keep on pinching myself; feeling total football bliss.

  39. Mike Says:

The Bucs defense came on strong last year and was very good, including the secondary. Anyone with sense could see that they were not the worst in the league, not by a large margin. Don’t know what software she was running but it is obviously worthless and garbage.

  40. Lamarcus Says:

I’ll enjoy the SB without trolling trolls because Fredlunds wasn’t completely wrong at that time…. our secondary was horrible. Just enjoy the SB.

  41. BillyBucFan Says:

    Every single woman picked KC.
It’s real easy to pick the team everybody expects to win.

They already have KC favored to win next year lol.
    People never learn.

Football is so far above statistics.
That nose couldn’t even sniff it out.
    Dead wrong

  42. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

She’s a woman!! The only reason she’s there is because of how she looks in that dress!! … Personally I think she has a horse face!! But in sure the rest of her looks pretty dam good out of that dress

  43. Cainishere Says:

Guys, some of you drive home the point that there is a problem in our country at how you perceive things. Women make great commentators and analysts. She didn’t get to where she is by being a sex symbol. Now for my actual comment.
Personally I think most commentators and analysts have been way way off all season long. as a matter of fact I only witnessed 3 T.V. Commentators or analysts who projected the Buccaneers to win the Saints Green Bay and Chiefs game accurately. This goes to show us that there is a real problem in the commentators of today who just simply love to hear themselves speak versus real intelligent commentary.
