Mike Evans Is A Reformed Tom Brady Hater

February 1st, 2021

New allegiance.

Joe is raising his hand!

Joe thinks it is safe to guess a lot of Bucs fans had no use for Tom Brady for years. He quarterbacked the evil empire. And it seemed no one could ever take him down.

But life comes at you hard, and now our favorite team has Brady at quarterback and he’s led the Bucs to the Super Bowl.

One more win Sunday and Joe might even buy the guy’s jersey!

Funny how that works, eh?

Well, Mike Evans can relate. The Bucs’ star receiver, during his media session today at the Super Bowl Opening Night morning edition, confessed he was a Brady hater. Like most of Bucs fandom, that quickly changed this past spring.

Evans was asked how cool it is to catch balls from Brady.

“It is great to catch passes from ‘The GOAT. I never thought I would get that opportunity. When I was a kid, I grew up not liking Tom Brady. I was a Peyton Manning fan. And know I’m the biggest Tom Brady fan!

Joe wonders if Evans has already rummaged through his old closet and doused his Manning jerseys with lighter fluid?

If Brady leads the Bucs to a Super Bowl win, Joe has a hunch Brady’s jersey will become more popular than Mike Alstott jerseys.

Joe’s, just have to give you a shout out for putting out so much good content. Nearly every time I refresh there’s a new story! Great job.

  2. Steven007 Says:

Joe, I’m sure you know but you are talking directly to many current JBF trolls. We all know who they are. Bird and others call them out with regularity to my relief. Not team players these trolls. Just lovers of certain players on what is occasionally their favorite team. Get on board trolls, you’ve missed an amazing season so far. Hopefully to get a bit more amazing soon.

  3. David Says:

I was more partial to Manning because the way he was an OC on the field.
He impressed the hell out of me. But I always respected the hell out of both of them.
As far as I’m concerned, Brady, Manning, Montana, Elway are the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history

  4. 1sparkybuc Says:

Heresy heresy. Alstott always was/ will be a Buc. Brady can’t/would never say that.

  5. Bucsfanman Says:

I’m a “convert” as well! How can you not be?! He’s OUR QB now!

Brady, Brady, Brady, it’s always Brady!

  6. JimmyJack Says:

P.Manning choked a few too many times in big games for my liking.

I did also hate Brady for a long time. He won my respect in the Falcolns SB. If you go back and look at the 1st half of that game Brady was taking shot after shot. Dont know how he got back up. Let alone lead a comeback. It was pretty herouc to be honest.

  7. JimmyJack Says:

    Heroic

    Thank you.

  9. Robert Says:

after he got his 1k yards…… he was on the rag a long time this year!

  10. OBF Says:

Maybe when Ndog grows up he’ll like Brady too

  11. BelowMe Says:

I always thought Acquili Smith was the best.

  12. Aceofaerospace Says:

I liked Manning better because he was funnier on Saturday night live. Back when Saturday night live was still funny. Manning coaching kids is about the funniest skit ever. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a must see. Heck I don’t even know if Brady was ever on SNL, plus I was a Brady hater before he became a Buc. So, there is that.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Maybe it’s strange….but I was always a fan of whoever was the Bucs QB at the time……until they weren’t.
    Lots of disappointments, of course.

I’ll enjoy Brady as long as we have him…..

  14. buxszntkt Says:

Brady seems to be an entirely different person since he departed the evil empire !! I hated him when he was a patriot because I hate the patriots. He is definitely more lighthearted in interviews since he joined BA’s group where humans can be humans. How many former patriots have made it clear that Belicheat stifled personality.

  15. Anonymous Says:

Cab honestly say I always admired Brady. I liked that he was a 6th rd pick who wasn’t the most physically gifted, just the smartest and coolest under fire, with the most determination.

  16. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

“When I was a kid, I grew up not liking Tom Brady.” Pretty awesome how ME13 watched Brady as a kid and then caught the 7/1000 yard pass from him.

Side note: I watched my nephew dig a whole in his back yard and set his Josh Freeman jersey on fire after a brutual Bucs loss. We may have or may not have been a few beers in.

  17. Waco Says:

Yep, I’m the guy who burned his Freeman jersey!

  18. Listnfrmafar Says:

buczentkt you hate us cause you ain’t us. The tables have turned. Keep winning and soon the Bucs will be new evil empire, unfortunately Brady will be drinking his TB12 coconut water concoction through a straw by then.

  19. Buc1987 Says:

    I dunno Joe.

It seemed like everyone had an Alstott jersey.

    I’ve still got one myself.

  20. EA Says:

I can relate, I like peyton manning over Brady over the years also.

  21. Bird Says:

    Jaymisspick6 again

Hahaha. Yup i too burned a josh freeman jersey in my backyard
    And yes alcohol was involved
    😂

That guy was smoking cigs and drinking the saturday night before game
Heard he liked his yahyow too

  22. BuccoDav Says:

I grew up a Montana fan, like Joe… But I will say I always had great respect for Brady and the Patriots for what they accomplished over a long period of time.

  23. JimbobBucsFan Says:

I never hated Brady. I just got tired of the Patriots domination for such a long time.

After we knock off the Chiefs on Sunday we could see a new rivalry occur. There would be nothing more fun than too see the two teams go at it for the next decade a’ la the Cowboys and and the Steelers of the 70s.

    Freaking A-Train, now and forevermore! 🏈 🤩

  24. Kentucky Buc Says:

People are sheep. Media perpetuated the evil empire bologna . I was and still am a Montana guy but Brady parted company with him long ago.

  25. gp Says:

I don’t spend money on jerseys. If I did, I’d have to spend less on beer and that ain’t happenin.
That being said, Alstot and Barber would not be replaced, although they could be joined by Brady. That would be a future decision though.
There may well be a couple of other players currently on the roster who could also be in the running for top shelf honors.

  26. SOEbuc Says:

My anniversary is the ninth and I told my GF she could buy me a white Brady or David jersey but have no clue how long it would take to arrive.

  27. Jmarkbuc Says:

    SOE

What does your wife think of your GF buying you a jersey for your anniversary?

  28. CalBucsFan Says:

I was tired of seeing the Patriots winning year after year, I became a Brady hater too.

Then, he signs with the Bucs and immediately I would tell anyone that was listening “It will take me 3-months to stop hating him, 3-months to start liking him, and 3-months to start loving him!”

Damn if that wasn’t prophetic because 9 months later he led the Bucs to the playoffs for the first time in 10-yrs. and next stop….the SB in Tampa! Yep, gotta love the guy!

    Let’s Go Bucs!

  29. ModHairKen Says:

I have been a Tom Brady admirer since he took done the Greatest Show on Turf. No one expected NE to even keep it close.

And he has dominated ever since. Greatest run in the history of sports. Better than Nicklaus. Better than Ali. Better than Aaron.

Better than Jordan. I said it.

  30. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Scissors is a reformed Tom Brady hater too!

  31. Zwak Says:

IF? Joe’s the BUCS are going to win this game! Their offensive line is in bad shape.. I’m more worried about the foaming out the mouth penalties our defense might get.

  32. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

Life long Bucs fan but Marino was my guy. I came around on Brady (and Bill) long before he came here. That Patriot Way was just great football. Glad the Bucs went to a jersey I would buy again but I had to get a 13 first. Then I need a 54, then I’ll think about a 12.

  33. 0-26 survivor Says:

Hated Brady from the start , sitting in a wing bar rooting for raiders on snowy nite in Foxboro went nuts when the worst call in NFL history gave Brady and pats the game. But didn’t know that loss would give my bucs their first super bowl , as that was grudens last game with that bunch . Love Brady now only 2 jerseys I bought were 63 and 28.

  34. ClodHopper Says:

I’m proud to say I’ve been a Brady fan for quite a few years now. I met one of my best friends about 10 years ago and he’s a Pats fan so it just happened.

I even have a son who was born In October of 2019 when Brady was still a Patriot. Since day one I would say “Tom Brady kisses” and kiss him right in the lips because I saw a doc a few years ago and he kissed his 10ish year old son in the lips and thought it was funny. And now he’s our quarterback. Like it was fate!

  35. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Hopefully the Bucs become members of the ” FIRST AND ONLY” club……..the 1st and only team not to just host a Superbowl in their own stadium but to win it too! That’ll wipe out the 0-26 club.
