Antoine Winfield Fined

February 13th, 2021

Pricey response by NFL.

[UPDATE: 5:02 p.m.] That photo above is of an Antoine Winfield move that will be revered by Bucs fans for decade. And it has cost the rookie a nice down payment on a new Bill Currie Ford F-150 or a Mustang.

The NFL came down on Winfield hitting him with a nearly $8,000 fine, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL.com, for flashing the peace sign at Cheetah Hill on the play that sealed the Bucs’ second Super Bowl in franchise history.

This is just BS in Joe’e eyes. For those who don’t know the story behind it, back in November when the Chiefs played the Bucs, Cheetah did a backflip and flashed the peace sign at Winfield when Kansas City ran up a 17-0 lead in the first quarter.

Winfield remembered that and when he broke up a pass on Cheetah that pretty much locked up a Super Bowl win for the Bucs, Winfield flashed the peace sign in Cheetah’s grill making sure he remembered calling out Winfield previously.

Payback is a b!tch, motherf’er.

And NFL strongman Roger Goodell has the gall to fine Winfield!

Where were the angry, constipated nuns of the NFL when Cheetah backflipped on the Bucs? You mean that’s not taunting? Where was the NFL when Cheetah flashed the peace sign at Winfield back in November? That’s not taunting?

Don’t worry, Winfield, you will make up that cash by all the free drinks and meals you will get over the years in the Tampa for that move, and for winning the Super Bowl.

Back in 2019, the NFL hit Cheetah with a $10,000 fine for flashing the peace sign at the Broncos as he scored a touchdown.

Everyone with common sense liked that blast, Antoine. Keep up your excellent play. Joe salutes you (and would like to buy you a meal).

[UPDATE: 5:02 p.m.] And so it has begun.

Couldn’t agree more! Perfect piece, Joe!!
    Go Bucs!!!

  2. cmurda Says:

Antoine Winfield is an absolute stud. I just re-watched the whole Bucs playoff run because that’s what I do during our Super Bowl runs. His play against the Aints stripping Cook of the ball changed that whole game. Maybe we win anyway but that really changed momentum. His play was outstanding in the Super Bowl. Knowing his father’s pedigree, Antoine’s great play doesn’t surprise too many of us. It’s dumb to get fined for that but Winfield should rest easy knowing that many of us are going to buy T-Shirts with his peace sign to Tyreek pictured.

  3. SCBucsFan Says:

Make a go fund me loyal Buc fans will pay it by the end of the day

  4. gp Says:

    @ cmurda
If he could license those t-shirts, the fine would be paid for in about a week!
The rest would be gravy, or a nice donation to charity.

  5. Joe Says:

If he could license those t-shirts, the fine would be paid for in about a week!

He could. He would just have to pose in street clothes (non-NFL gear), flash a peace sign. And have the word “World Champions” or “best in the world” on it or something like that.

  6. Godlovesbucs Says:

That would be a pretty cool shirt, the outline of winfield with the deuces up.

  7. Pete Says:

If flashing a peace sign costs $8000, then, Hill is really going to take a hit to his bank account!

  8. SlyPirate Says:

Licht should give Winfield the fine paperwork, picture in this article, and a copy of the check.

  9. Drunkinybor Says:

What a bunch of horse manure. F that it was worth it.

  10. gp Says:

    @ SlyPirate
If I were he, I would have all of that framed and hanging in my trophy room!

  11. Marine Buc Says:

I can’t believe we got Winfield in the second round…

Could possibly be the best value pick in the draft.

  12. cmurda Says:

Yes, I like where your minds are at. I would buy that T-Shirt also. I need an OG one of the actual play too though. That was so incredibly epic. Unquestionably the best penalty in the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  13. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Eff herr Goodell!
    Winfield is the sh!t.

Make the shirts, we will buy.

  14. cmurda Says:

Agreed Marine. After Licht’s crazy bad 2016 draft, who would have thought that the dude literally would be on fire for the next 3 drafts. The Marpet pick in 2015 and last year’s Winfield pick redefined this franchise.

  15. pewter941 Says:

Im thinking of buying a f150 from Bill Currie.

  16. Fernando Says:

Yeah he’ll pay it with joy

  17. Joe Says:

Im thinking of buying a f150 from Bill Currie.

Ask for GM Sean Sullivan and tell him you read Bill Currie Ford’s ad on JoeBucsFan.com. You get an automatic discount. Seriously.

  18. Casual Observer Says:

So glad Winfield is our center fielder. Plays like a seasoned vet as he scopes out each play. And is so speedy to react. Agree he was a great pick up.

  19. gp Says:

    And voila!
I have a new desktop background!

  20. Wesley Says:

Someone set up a go fund me now!

  21. TampaTown Says:

I hope this kid never reaches into his pocket again in Tampa. AWJ I ever see you out on the town your whole tab is on me.

  22. Rojas Says:

Did anyone see Chris Godwin’s, latest IG post.

  23. cmurda Says:

    No Rojas. Share

  24. Brandon Says:

I love the symbol. ✌ it means so much to us Buc fans. It means revenge and redemption and stands for the number of Lombardi trophies we’ve won. ✌

  25. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

What about when Tyreek Hill did it to us in Tampa, during the regular season ?
    No Penalty!
Heck, he even grabbed the field telephone, and said on National TV “You all need to give him some help, because he can’t cover me”!
    Still, no penalty!
But when we do it, we get penalized!
    Go figure ?

  26. gp Says:

    Oh, He DID get penalized!
We exacted penalty on him in the Super Bowl!

  27. gp Says:

The peace sign was just the icing!

  28. SB : Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

I would buy those shirts for my whole family.

  29. CocoaBeachBuc Says:

    Fidel Goodell

  30. DaBux Says:

Dang if Winfield isn’t going to make out like a bandit.

And old Super Tom approved of it. Man if our secondary isn’t ready to make another major leap next year, I would be shocked. Well done and screw the fine.

  31. Aceofaerospace Says:

All I can think of is the old bud light commercials: Real American Hero’s…Here’s to you “peace out mother fauker” guy. Have an iced cold bud light and ask Roger Goodell to kiss your world champion ass. (Voice over guy) “Put on some chapstick will you please”.

  32. EA Says:

Tyreek Hill: Right now we’re chasing Michael Jordan , why not go 7 rings, I say go over 5 and say 7.

Tom Brady: Totally agree Cheetah, why not go 7.

  33. SKBucsfan Says:

    Worth it!!!

  34. ModHairKen Says:

I’ll donate $78 to any charity Antoine Winfield,Jr. designates. The peace sign is the Bucs’ now, not Hill.

  35. Devinwhiteshorse Says:

Very much worth it! Somebody get those shirts made ASAP!!

  36. mg Says:

Never been so proud of a Golden Gopher.
Back in the day, some punk doing a back-flip into the end zone on the home teams field never would’ve made it back to the bench.

  37. Howard Cosell Says:

    Howard will translate:
    The NFL believes in elitism.
The sports media has pumped up Hill and Mahomes ad nauseum for
two weeks before the SB. The sports media is salivating to have Mahomes be the new face of the NFL.
Along comes the Tampa Bradys, an upstart unit that bspn has not spoken
about in 20 years. Hell…they dont even LIKE Tampa!
…and a rookie no less??!! BBFFAAWW!!?? THIS is an OUTRAGE!
The rookie from Tampa mocking their chosen one?
    This blasphemy will not stand!

Howard loves it. Howard loves WInfield.
Winfield is the sports equivalent of the Reddit Game-Stop short sale.
The bloated, self-important, detached powers that be are having a meltdown.

    Go Bucs!

  38. Howard Cosell Says:

    Winfield wasn’t mocking Hill.
He’s just saying that the Bucs are going for 2

  39. mg Says:

Never been so proud go a Golden Gopher.

  40. unbelievable Says:

    Worth it!

Tyreek Hill is human garbage. Beat up his baby so bad the kids arm was broken. Also beat up the baby mama while she was pregnant.

Total trash. Hopefully the next time we play the Chiefs we can break his arm in return.

  41. mg Says:

    of

  42. Jerry Says:

I’m sure he doesn’t care. It was worth every penny.

  43. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Booze and driving…good combination of gifts!

  44. SB : Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

I know a guy who owns 20+ T Shirt shops. I am Seriously going to run that Idea by him.

  45. SOEbuc Says:

What BS. I thought the NFL was inspiring this stupid sh!t now instead of fining players. We don’t give a f#ck. Call someone Tyreek needs help. Peace out from Ray Jay ya punk bitch.

  46. Jersey Buc Says:

So let me understand this. The clown from KC didn’t just do a back flip on the play…he did a back flip GOING INTO THE ENDZONE to score, and he doesn’t get fined for taunting. Winfield flashed the peace sign after breaking up the pass, and it’s $8000 out of his pocket? Hope Goodell chokes on it. The league is truly run by jackasses. Really miss Rozelle and Tagliabue.

  47. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Take there names and never forget. Come back with a vengeance, and settle the fight in the coliseum. Last man standing wins! Go Bucs! SB champs!

  48. Destinjohnny Says:

Sb u owe me a jersey

  49. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

“Deuces Cheetah Boy to you and the championship!”

  50. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

The NFL really is against freedom of speech, so un American! Guess the 2nd amendment is the only one that matters. I really had thought Winfield was saying we kept you out of the end zone 2 times sucka! Shoulda flashed 3 on the 3rd time they did it and 4 on the 4th on Devin Whites int in the end zone!

  51. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

    Nice one Ace!

  52. TBSwarm Says:

Not my website or my shirt, but I did just order one

Also not trying to advertise or anything but some people seemed interested in a shirt like this.

  53. TBSwarm Says:

Guess they removed the link I posted because its probably against the rules, but you can google loosecannonsmerch.

  54. TampaTown Says:

Wow the number of shirts for sale already AWJ better get a trademark quick

  55. Rod Munch Says:

If he was going to get fined anyways, he should have done the fishing reel wind up middle finger gag, now that would have been epic.

  56. Mtbucsfan Says:

Lol one of the buccaholics started a GoFundMe to pay for it lol.

  57. John Says:

There is ago fund me to pay the fine on Facebook.

  58. adam from ny Says:

    winfield superbowl purse:

    150k
    – 8k
    = 142k

    he did just fine…

    all bucs players get 150k
    all chiefs players get 75k

  59. All lives matter Says:

How assinine is that? Cancel culture prolly had a lot to do about that.

  60. Buczilla Says:

The NFL has rarely made any good decisions lately. Actually, having The Weekend do the halftime show is the only one that I can think of.

  61. “That guy” Says:

    Well deserved discounts.

  62. iamrhenry Says:

Who watched the halftime show? It wasn’t me “Chuck Berry.” Good grief, the halftime show was the absolute worse. Looked like a bad knockoff of a Michael Jackson someone found on a clearance rack. Aside from that, the bandaged dancers were visually awful. I hit the mute button and played the aforementioned song. It was glorious.

  63. SB~LV Says:

He should check custom checks printed with the image and send the check to the NFL

  64. Jmarkbuc Says:

    All lives .. seriously?

You must be new to the NFL.

  65. Buc1987 Says:

gp…copycat…it’s been my desktop picture for about 4 days now. lol

  66. RustyRhinos Says:

What’s the big deal? Winfield’s hand was turned palm towards Hill. Not the back of Winfield’s hand under Winfield’s chin peace sign towards Hill.

Sadly we all said watching the game that will cost him a fine, and we were correct.
I am Very Glad he did it. Knowing what I watched Hill do toward Winfield and his teammates, and all us Buccaneer fans! Tipped My hat to Hill’s game to that point, after the flip and his peace sign, I flipped my back of hand peace sign right back at him.
    Thank you, Mr. Winfield Jr.
    Go Bucs!

  67. David Says:

So an offensive player can flash a sign back to a defender as he runs to the endzone, basically taunting them.
An offensive player can slow down before going over the goal line and do a backflip, essentially taunting them.

That’s OK because they called “celebrating” ?
Whatever. They need to call taunting both ways or don’t call it at all.

  68. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Best moment of the super bowl for me from one of my favorite players!!
