Points Matter

January 28th, 2021

Risk it Mr. Biscuit.

Joe is absolutely and totally convinced if Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians does not live up to his motto of no-risk-it; no-biscuit, the Packers would be setting up shop at One Buc Palace in preparation for Super Bowl LV.

Break down football to its very core, it’s about who has the most points at the end of the game. It is no simpler than that.

And Arians even said he had to be aggressive with the Packers.

As it turned out, that Scotty Miller 39-yard catch from park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady as time ran out in the first half was the winning margin.

Super Bowl-winning coach Brian Billick dropped in on NFL Network this week and stated Arians better stick with that famous motto of his because points playing the Chiefs are beyond critical.

“Your offense has to keep up,” Billick said of the Bucs. “Score touchdowns, not field goals. Come up with your own share of big plays… [and] you probably need a turnover or a big special teams play.”

Well, the Bucs certainly got those against the Packers. Jordan Whitehead’s jarring forced fumble on Aaron Jones which Devin White recovered set up the Bucs with a touchdown and the Bucs had some decent kick returns for a change.

Here is something to keep in mind: When Playoff Lenny Leonard Fournette scores a touchdown the Bucs are 5-1. When Playoff Lenny runs for 34 yards or more, the Bucs are undefeated (8-0).

You can see Billick’s full breakdown of what the Bucs need to do to beat the Chiefs in the NFL Network video below.

That 8-0 mark when he runs for yardage is Key.
Might not show his receptions but I’m sure they were there in those games.

KC saw Rojo and he caught and ran his best play of the year against KC

Those screens will be there and Lenny needs to be the one catching them

Taken out of context, stats like that can lead to some rather dubious conclusions. No doubt, for instance, an argument could be made that the Bucs MUST re-sign ‘Lenny’ Fournette because he’s obviously the key to our offense. All we have to do is make sure that he gets enough carries to gain 34 yds each game and we could not only win the SB, but also go undefeated next year.

Of course, the same could be said of another RB, the Chiefs Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The Chiefs went 13-1 in games that he played in, and in every one of those games that they won with him in there, he gained at least 7 yds. Actually, CEH gained under 50 yds rushing in 8 of his 14 games this year, but had 2 games where he ran wild (299 yds on 51 carries against Houston & Buffalo).

Stats are fun though, especially next Sunday’s stat that has the Bucs out-scoring the Chiefs 35-27 to become Super Bowl champions.

i think the run game will be very affective…

    GO BUCS!!!!

    @Defense Rules

You know what they say. Stats lie and Liars figure!

I am with you brother. Taking a 34 yard rush stat as a key to winning is just absurd.

Brian Belichick is just bitter about letting go Brady. I am sure the fans are not happy with Belichick. They had a decent defense this year but no offense – wonder why?

BA will do fine. I am sure he understands the KC has a potent offense and will put up a lot of points.

  6. Kentucky Buc Says:

I’m not going to do it to you man.

  7. CocoaBeachBuc Says:

Good for you Kentucky. Lots of feel good going on now.

watch jpp mic’ed up vs the packers….it’s good…

he also asked rodgers to swap jerseys at the end of the game…

    rodgers was all downtrodden too…

jpp didn’t exactly have the best timing to discuss a jersey swap with a sad arron…lol…

can you imagine how many bucs players have asked TB for a signed jersey at this point?

    prolly half the squad

Brian Billick used to coach the Ravens. Bill Belicheck coaches the Pats

Well said Defense Rules. Like any calculation in math, there’s a formula and there’s an answer. All this statistical chatter is about the variables of the games formula, when the final score is the answer and really, all that matters. The rest is just chatter.

  11. Beeej Says:

34 yards could be interpreted to mean he had eight or nine carries, implying the Bucs were not behind trying to catch up

  12. Fernando Diaz Says:

Shaq Barrett and JPP need to put pressure.
Run the ball keep Mahomes on sideline.

  13. Pewter Power Says:

I really hope the chiefs are feeling themselves too much sort of like that undefeated patriots team

Player 1 says, “Brian Billick used to coach the Ravens. Bill Belicheck coaches the Pats” Thanks for the correction!

This is not rocket science. If Devin White can do to Patrick Mahomes what DB55 did to another running QB with an arm, Michael Vick, I love our chances.
