Julio Jones Out For Falcons

January 1st, 2021

Won’t rise up Sunday.

Since it doesn’t appear the Bucs will have much of a pass rush Sunday with both inside linebacker Devin White (nine sacks) and NFL sack king Shaq Barrett (eight sacks) out on the COVID list, at least the Dixie Chicks will be down their best receiver.

Julio Jones has a nagging hamstring and the Dixie Chicks have put him on the shelf for good for the 2020 season.

Also missing Sunday’s game with the Bucs will be cornerback Darqueze Dennard, who has started six games. Backup receiver Brandon Powell, who has played in 15 games this year, also will miss the game with a foot injury.

Only Jeremiah Ledbetter will miss Sunday’s game for the Bucs. Carlton Davis, who has been battling a groin injury, is listed as doubtful and Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians said it will be a game-time decision.

So let’s take stock of this post and the previous one…players ruled out this Sunday: Shaq Barrett (LB), Devin White (LB), Darqueze Dennard (CB), Steve McLendon (DT). And Carlton Davis (CB) is doubtful. The offense better get ready to light it up. A slow start again would seem to seal our fate straight away. And Atlanta obviously knows this too, so we’ve got to be clever with our offensive game plan. If I see the first play of the game be a 1-yd carry one more time I think I’ll puke. Keep them off balance and play to beat the Vegas total points line. Go Bucs!

Dungydance I don’t know what games you have been watching. But what I have seen at the beginning of the game the last 8 weeks. Is a first down overthrow of a wide open receiver on first down. Then a run up the middle for 1 yard. Then 3 and 9 a 4 yard pass with no yac followed by a punt. But I get what you are saying we are so predictable on the run. If us fans know when we are running the opponent for sure knows. We never mix it up. Let’s start the game off with a well set up screen. Or a quick slant for an easy completion for 5 yards and the possibility of a big play with a broken tackle or some good screen blocking. We just have a first play curse. So change it up and do a safe play with potential.

Jeff – of late I agree. But look back at the GB game…first play a carry for 2 yds. And then the NYG game…first play a carry for 2 yds. And then the CAR game…first play a carry for 1 yd. And then the LAR game…first play a carry for no gain. The look we gave on all of those plays was very obvious, I agree we were too predictable. The last 2 weeks have been WAY better…lots more motion on the line, and fewer times we had an empty back field. I like your suggestions and totally agree we need to keep them guessing. Tomorrow has the makings of a trap game but I trust we will be ready. Go Bucs!

“Julio Jones out for the Falcons” Calvin Ridley is NOT out for the Falcons. And he’s younger and better than Jones, my opinion only.
