Evans Getting An MRI

January 3rd, 2021

Bucs WR Mike Evans.

Mike Evans was transported from the Den of Depression to a local health facility for an MRI.

Specifics of his injury have not been released by the team as of this writing.

Evans, just after becoming the first NFL player to record 1,000-yard receiving seasons in each of his first seven years in the league, landed awkwardly in the end zone on a would-be touchdown pass and damaged his knee badly. That is just Joe’s speculation from seeing how the knee and leg bent.

Jennifer Hale of FOX Sports spoke with Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians at halftime and he told Hale the MRI is being done now to determine Evans’ possible availability for the Bucs’ first playoff game in 13 years on Saturday or Sunday.

Joe is just assuming here, but if doctors feared Evans blew out the knee badly, why would they do an MRI immediately to check on availability for next week?

Arians, per Hale, said he had no regrets about playing Evans after he set the NFL record as the Bucs are playing to win today.

Joe will have more as the situation develops.

MRI early before swelling gets too bad, a guess ,

  3. Elita Vita Says:

MRI needed to confirm diagnosis. Knee seemed to move awkwardly inward. MRI also needed to see if any part of his knee also fractured. Not a Dr but suffered 2 dislocations, 3 subluxations, a broken knee cap as well as an upper tibia fracture. Awkward turns and twists often result in such injuries. Still, I’m hoping for the best! Go Bucs!

But hat off to Licht and the insurancy policy AB

  15. Mitch Says:

There is a certified account on twitter who says that they are a retired NFL team docon who posted a video of Mikes injury and assessed it as a sprained MCL and that he’d be out for the wild card. He was optimistic the the ACL was spared and thinks there’s a good chance that there were no tears or structural damage.

The Outback Bowl immediately followed by a Buc game always makes me nervous…the field ain’t the best…at least according to Aaron Rodgers.

What an absolute shame. My heart goes out to him. What a soldier.

  22. ModHairKen Says:

For all the losers suggesting Evans should have been benched after the record, go follow the Jets or Jags. You don’t bench starters until the game is out of reach.

  23. David Says:

Really?? Someone is bitching about pulling him? It was to early in the game. Get a grip

  24. Chris Boyd Says:

Can we please never mention Mr Pick 6 again unless he somehow somewhere finds a team bad enough to start him and they are playing the Bucs?

Sending all the best possible vibes to Big Mike (Godzilla) Evans.

This guy deserves to suit up in the playoffs, and the Bucs need him.

    Please football gods, please!

  31. JerseyBucsFan Says:

Anyone who is saying they should have pulled him out has no idea what they are talking about. We were playing for the 5 seed. I hope Evans can play in the playoffs, if there is anyone who deserves to play its him and david.

  32. T in Orlando Says:

I thought 5+ wins at home meant it was time to retire the “Den of Depression” moniker?

  35. Elita Vita Says:

Hey, Time to give Licht, Arians, Brady etc congratulations for an exciting regular season. Long suffering Bucs fans sincerely thank you! We all so deserve this! Get good results in the playoffs!!!

  36. David Says:

    1. They wanted and needed that win to retain the five seed to play the joke that is the NFC East winner.
    2. They also one of Evans to have 1000 yards and he was over it by 6 at that point.
    3. They were only up 7-3
    4. They were not going to rest their starters given those things.

Hopefully he is OK and Devon White continues to tests negative.
They can win next week without either one but that might be as far as they’re going without them

  37. unbelievable Says:

Lol at some of these comments.

Most likely he misses the wild card game at minimum. Hopefully it’s just that game. At least we saw that CG and AB can do a lot of damage and Brady is way more in sync with them compared to a few weeks ago.

Obviously I’m hoping it’s just a sprain / bruise, and nothing is torn. It didn’t look horrific, but you definitely saw the leg bend too far in a direction it’s not supposed to.

  38. LongSeason Says:

May I remind Buc fans that Ronde ‘The’ Barber of Seville ran 92 yards for INT TD at Philadelphia to send us to the Super Bowl and he had a torn meniscus thingy in one of his knees.
Hopefully Mike Evans is just a hyper-extension of left leg.

  39. Jeff Says:

Nah, he’s done for the season. Mike, See ya next year and thanks for a great season. Congrats on the new receiving record.

  40. Kentucky Buc Says:

No ligament damage . He will be fine.
