“Den” No More

January 3rd, 2021

No more “Den.”

Some Bucs fans asked for it. The Bucs earned it. Both bad and good.

Joe is hereby retiring the moniker for the Bucs stadium known as the “Den of Depression.”

Why is that? The Bucs, for the first time in the post-Chucky era, have a winning record at home.

With the Bucs beating the Dixie Chicks 44-27 today, it gave the Bucs their fifth home win this season. Of course, the Bucs play eight home games a year.

The reason Joe called the stadium Den of Depression was that folks used to make fun of the “Factory of Sadness,” where the Browns played in Cleveland, yet the Bucs had just as bad if not a worse home record at times.

In fact, in lousy Lovie Smith’s first season, the Bucs lost all eight home games in 2014! You almost have to try to be that bad.

Joe referring to the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway in such terms angered some Bucs fans, but Joe told those who were upset their rancor was misdirected. Joe never tackled, threw a block, threw a pass, caught a pass or ran the ball on the Bucs’ home field. Rather, the anger should have been directed at the Bucs for constantly playing like garbage at home, sending good, hard-working, paying customers home week after week with a foul taste in their mouths.

Who the heck wanted to drop hundreds (or thousands) of dollars a year to go through all the hassle of getting to a home game each week only to just about know before kickoff you would go home sick from yet another loss?

Those days are over.

The Bucs are going to the playoffs for the first time in 13 years! And the Bucs have a winning record (finally) at home!

    TOMPA STADIUM!!!!!!!!

  5. Rod Munch Says:

Now that the Giants won, we need the Eagles to win – would much rather face the Giants than the Redskins.

Also the Cowboys got screwed by the refs, that’s hilarious.

  6. LVMYBUCS Says:

GREAT WIN BUC!!!! But I’m scared our secondary is have a hard time.

  7. Bird Says:

    “Bradys house “

They never punted. He had two others in endzone that could have been caught. Beast qb season by a mile
Most points scored in a year
40 tds to 12 ints. Better then 3 to 1

  8. An Erection For Sacks Says:

    Another tangible step toward respectability.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Isn’t it fitting that we had Zero punts today….

  10. BucsArrrBack Says:

Great win by the boys without Shaq, White, and others !! Sick to my stomach about ME13 aka a lock in the HOF getting hurt and praying it’s not as bad as it looked. Him and Lovante aren’t just great players, but class acts off the field as well, but WE ARE GOING BACk TO THE PLAYOFFS BABY !!! Go Bucs

  11. FairMinded Says:

Historic! Now retire the preamble to Brady’s name and put some respect on it! 😆

  12. Rob Says:

Thank God!!! Always hated the nickname even though I can see it was justified. Go Bucs!!!

  13. Craig Says:

Just put it on a shelf, Brady will not be our QB forever.

  14. Infomeplease Says:

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  15. firethecannons Says:

It is important to retire the moniker as these Bucs do not want anything to do with that history. These Bucs are optimistic and able to rally and win. Brady was great even the int was not in any way his fault

  16. Bird Says:

    Fairminded

I agree. Not sure you saw but the one joe just jumped in the brady bandwagon today. The other joe was always there

  17. Infomeplease Says:

How about calling RayJ the “Den of Destruction!!!”

  18. Bucsjunkie Says:

Hated the AB signing, but by all measures he’s been a great teammate and has contributed more than I could have hoped for. Proved wrong once again.

  19. Howard Cosell Says:

    BRAVO!!

Brady is willing this team to greatness

  20. Cobraboy Says:

If nothing else, it has been pure joy watching superb QB play this season.

    Thank you, Tom Brady.

Please win a SB in the “Den of Delight.” Nothing would be more satisfying than to see you enter the HoF as a Buccaneer (vs. Patriot.)

  21. Tye Says:

oh what a difference a QUALITY qb makes…. Sure hope they have learned from their past mistakes!
Amazing season for the Bucs franchise… hopefully the last few games are just a glimpse in how they will play in the playoffs…

  22. Oneilbucs Says:

Bruce Arians screwed Rojo for his 1,000 yards and his money . But glad we got the win . Now no more excuses time for finish we have to be able to beat these playoffs teams even the NFC east is going to be hard to beat . So let’s get it done !!! We are 1 and 5 against playoff teams and 10 and 0 against trash teams . Playoffs alone is not good enough with this roster . And I don’t care about what the national media say or the local media . It’s superbowl or bust I’m not changing my mindset about that !!!!

    Finally!!

I have been here since the beginning of JBF, and love this Blog.
Still, I had to laugh when a poster said that this Blog is the real Den Of Depression, because often it is more negative than a post on a battery.

  25. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Nice to see the moniker retired. I’m not even gonna say it! It’s truly a new day in Tampa Bay! Nobody in the NFC wants to play us in the playoffs!!!

  26. Anonymous Says:

Dont call it the stadium formerly known as the den of depression either.

  27. WillieG Says:

Now would you please retire all the silly names you gave Brady and Gronk?

  28. unbelievable Says:

    Hallelujah

I just popped some champagne to celebrate this milestone!

And to pour some out for Mike Evans… How fkn lame to have your home turf end your first chance at the post season.

  29. Clean House Says:

    Fantastic long running shtick!

    Really fun, thanks Joe!

  30. Chucky Says:

No more Jamie equals no more den…simple as that…

  31. Joe Says:

Now would you please retire all the silly names you gave Brady and Gronk?

    No, because they are accurate.

  32. Listnfrmafar Says:

Did anyone do the numbers 40 passing TD’s, 3 rushing TD’s so 43 @ 43. Brady knew what he was doing.

  33. PRBucsFan Says:

BOUT damn time lol. For those of us who have been on these threads forever, bout damn time
