Can Todd Bowles Confuse Aaron Rodgers (Again)?

January 23rd, 2021

Bucs film breakdown.

One guy in sports media flying under the radar in Joe’s eyes is former Eagles and Browns linebacker Emmanuel Acho of FS1.

Acho, who co-hosts “Speak for Yourself” weekdays with Marcellus Wiley, points out using video how Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles had Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers more confused with exotic blitzes when the two teams played in October. Rodgers seemed as lost as a priest in a house of ill repute.

Acho demonstrated one of Bowles’ blitzes where the Bucs played strong man coverage, which not just forced Rodgers into a bad throw, it was picked.

That’s exactly what Booger McFarland was talking about: If the Bucs will have success blitzing Rodgers, their man coverage on blitzes must be tight.

You want to know another reason why Joe likes Acho so much? Acho’s brother Sam, a linebacker, played for Bowles and the Bucs last year. So when Emmanuel Acho talks Bucs, Joe is comfortable that Acho is coming to the table with strong intel.

I say no ! Not as a strategy other than typical DC play calling

  2. Buc Wild Says:

I don’t like this guy at all. Everyday I watch him constantly bashing the Bucs and finding excuses when they win.

  3. Roy T. Buford Says:

If they can mix up zone and man, as well throw a variety of blitz packages at Rodgers, then sure, they can beat him again if the are hard to read. But the Bucs zone coverage has been spotty at times too. I think at the end of the day, they are going to have to get to Rodgers and not let him get of the pocket, where he is every more dangerous. They are also going to have start fast on offense. Can’t get down double digits early. No way.

HELL NO!!! Bowles is the confused one, blind squirrel found his nut in week 6.

  5. Jason Says:

It’s not about confusing Rogers, it’s about confusing his o-line. Do that and Devin White gets 3 sacks this game and we win easy.

Priests are not lost in houses of ill repute. Most of them are right at home.

  7. ArmchairGM Says:

I’ve visited Packers message boards to see what they’re saying this week. They’re all touting that Rodgers is lethal against the blitz except for one game…. vs. the Bucs. I think the packers have improved since then but so have the Bucs. White is playing possessed, SMB is turning a corner and, oh yeah, we’ll have Vea this time. Packers fans don’t know what they’re in for. GO BUCS!

Harken back to Dungy and Kiffen’s Rule #1
Play your assignment, don’t try and be a hero jumping on something you think you see !

  9. Seemore Bucs Says:

ArmchairGM, I know what Packers fans are in for on Sunday. Plenty of disappointment and the end of their season at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bucs beat Green Bay by at least two possessions.

I’ve been watching him and Marcellus a bit this week.

On Monday all he was talking about was how Drew Brees played the worst game of his life and the Bucs offense barely had to do anything. He didnt give the Bucs any credit defensively. Maybe it’s cuz he chose the Saints to win the week before.

Marcellus on the other hand was praising the Bucs defense and offense and predicted they were gonna win.

  11. Pewter Power Says:

That team can’t handle a front and probably gonna freeze up just like they did against 49ers defense. That bad man Aaron Rodgers ain’t the best in football because he can’t get to the Super Bowl.

  12. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I’m with Seemore. Bucs by 10.

LoL 😂 “You don’t see Aaron Rodgers because his head is hung low”
