Bucs Chatter On GMFB

January 18th, 2021

Sweet jacket.

There actually is a group of folks nearly as jacked as Bucs fans — though not to the same level — for the Bucs to be in the NFC Championship.

That would be the gang of “Good Morning Football.”

At the breakfast table this morning, the hosting foursome could not wait for Sunday afternoon when they get to see Aaron Rodgers battle Tom Brady for the honor to play in the Super Bowl.

Kyle Brandt, wearing a sweet creamsicle jacket, is so happy the Bucs made the NFC Championship game. He said if it were the Saints and Drew Brees, there would be little reason to watch the game.

But Brady? Look out Packers, Brandt said.

“The team that is going to Lambeau is the Bucs,” Brandt began. “And we saw them run. We saw them hit. … You don’t think Brady can play in the snow? Brady has been winning titles in the snow since [Aaron] Rodgers was in Butte College. [Weather] is not a factor.

“I don’t think Drew Brees and the Saints would have gone there and won. I think it was a wrap. The Bucs? Not intimidated by Lambeau. Not intimidated by snow, cold. Bring it on.

“It is a dream matchup. A dream matchup.”

Joe thinks the way the Bucs punked the Packers earlier this season is ancient history. Both teams are better now. And the Packers are much better offensively than when the Bucs punched them in the mouth.

Can the Bucs beat the Packers? You damn right they can. But they have to play smart, solid football, not unlike how they took down Brees and the slimy Saints.

You can see the full segment of the “Good Morning Football” gang discuss the Bucs-Packers game in the NFL Network video below.

I had that jacket, or one very similar, in high school in the early 90s. Before there was the internet full of trolls, there was wearing a Bucco Bruce jersey to school.

  2. gbobucsfan Says:

Steve Smith should have been a special guest.

  3. Nutterbutter95 Says:

All games now need to be played to the level it was last night. Every team, from the divisional round onward, are on paper the most complete teams in the league. It now comes down to execution, grit and a solid game plan

  4. David Says:

I think he is right but people looking at the first game as an indication should rise up. The Saints first two games were no indication, why should this be any different? All the teams have evolved and are better. The defense can definitely take away knowledge from that first game on how to stop the Packers but it’s pretty obvious… Pressure.

I may be alone in this but the Bucs offense really did not do much the last two weeks other than be efficient. Some of that was by design, especially against the Saints where they wanted to run a lot.
I look for them to kind of explode against the Packers D. They are going to put up some yards and 35+ points.
    ME… Big day coming

  5. 6throundpick Says:

Tons of respect for Aaron Rodgers and the entire GB franchise, not to mention some of the best fans in the NFL. Had there been a regular preseason, they might be playing the next game in Tampa. Regardless, the Bucs can play with any of the remaining teams, particularly right now. And home field advantage is not the same this year. If I were betting on one of the four remaining teams, I’d say TB is the top team. When their defense plays tough, their offense does the rest.

  6. Howard Cosell Says:

Steve Smith should have been a special guest.

Never. Repeat never, bet against Tom Brady. That was mistake number 1

  7. Pryda...sec147 Says:

Our Super Bowl game was beating the Aints we got these next 2 games ! No Doubt !

  8. unbelievable Says:

Damn, does Kay Adams just get better and better looking?

  9. SlyPirate Says:

The Bucs’ offense has been relatively quiet the last two games because they were playing against two of the NFL’s best defenses. GB’s defense is not of the same caliber. Expect the offense to come alive.

  10. Darin Says:

I had a closet full of them and was the only one in school who would dare wear Bucs orange.

  11. SB : Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

SOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME to not have Realisto and his puppy here anymore.

  12. Jmarkbuc Says:

I would expect the Cheesey’s to play better, just as we did against the slimy Saints.

    Plus the extra rest
    Plus the home field
    Plus the weather .

On our side… a peaking offense, an awakening Defense and a 🐐.

Certainly won’t be easy, but wouldn’t be worth it if it was.

  13. Topdoggie Says:

At Rodmunch I still have mine. I was going to Ohio and did not want to wear orange there so I bought a black jacket. O get there and my buddy takes me to the woods we hiked as kids. Annnnd it turns out to be deer season. First question I get ask is why don’t you have an orange coat on. Dammit man you can’t make this stuff up.

  14. Buc1987 Says:

Rod I wore my creamsicles to school in the late 80’s and got picked on profusely for actually being a Bucs fan.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

I’ve had my creamsicle flag flying proudly out in front of my house all season. Only because I can’t seem to find my red one anywhere.

The creamsicle’s sweet though. It’s the big one the team gave us when we got our season tickets back in 2013. The Freeman meltdown season.

  16. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

Rod Munch, I’m with you brother. There’s no such thing as a fair weather fan who wore that stuff to school.

  17. Jerry Says:

Another big part of this game will be turnovers. Both these teams are undefeated when they commit no turnovers. Packers are 11-0 and the Bucs are 7-0.
Whoever wins the turnover battle will likely win.

  18. Winny Testaverde Says:

That coat Brant has on looks to be of the Sam Wyche to early Tony Dungy era. The funny part of some of these stories is hearing the local scorn for wearing such things. As a kid in Montana ( long story )…finding Buc gear was rare and finding a Buc fan was even more so.

  19. Ed Says:

The Bucs can beat the Packers by being the more physical of the 2 teams. No doubt Rodgers will hit some deep balls that Brees couldn’t but on the other side, Tom Brady will have a cleaner pocket vs Packers and he should also have more deep balls.

I just don’t understand the offensive playcalling, when that running game is established, that’s when the play action deep shots work. The game plan to start was awful. 3rd’s and short and they try those deep shots to Gronk and Brown when NO was in the 2 deep safety defense. I really think as the game progresses that the Bucs start to figure out the defenses but the scripted stuff to start every game is terrible.

  20. Brandon Says:

Our entire OL is from cold weather places. Brady, Gronk, Godwin, AB, all played in icy areas. On the DL Suh, Gohlston, Barrett, and JPP all came from cold weather areas. They might not like it, but they’ve done it before. QB, OL, DL, and pass catchers are most affected and ours are no strangers to the cold.

  21. DaBux Says:

    Has Steve Smith apologized yet?

  22. IrishMist Says:

Winfield and Tyler Johnson played their college ball in Minnesota. They should also be used to the cold and snow.

  23. ModHairKen Says:

It’s not like the Bucs have only players who have lived in Florida, and it’s not like GB plays every game in snow.

Let them think the have an advantage. Every one has a plan until they get punched in the mouth, said Mike Tyson.

Rodgers is soft. He’s a pretty boy. He likes to run. His yap, but he can’t stand to be touched.

  24. Jersey buc Says:

I like our run game with are backs. Block well up front let them guys eat.

  25. TampaTown Says:

Kay Adams definitely had her eyelids done and most probably a mini brow lift. Easier to get better looking when you’re getting cosmetic surgery. I’m not against as long as it doesn’t go too far like Holly Saunders

  26. All lives matter Says:

I hope our players wear the proper cleat depths. Playing on icy or muddy turf can get pretty slippery. But cleats too long can also get caked up. Hopefully they’re well informed and prepared.

  27. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

It will be a purely defensive game…and defense wins championships.

  28. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

It was said by one Joe that the Bucs inexplicably went back to the former way on offense, but in retrospect I say they did it because the Aints weren’t changing their scheme and weren’t biting on too many misdirects so they kept it simple. The line was giving superior blocking as evidence of Fournette and RoJos successful running and the Aints weren’t giving up much so they took what they got and made it work against them. This team has everything needed except special teams to beat the Packers and the Super Bowl. If only we kept Raymond Calais as our returner instead of Mickens!

  29. orlbucfan Says:

I have plenty of Buc creamsicle stuff, and I love the colors. They remind me of Florida, much more than pewter, black, red and white. They are loud and attract attention. Wow, I was at the ‘79 Playoff games, and it was beyond cool to see those colors flashing. Loud and proud!

this is the superbowl, before the superbowl LFG bucs
