Big Biscuits!

January 24th, 2021

Clutch.

Joe believes the Bucs made a play in the first half that fans may remember for as long as they are sucking air, and it might be remembered with the same affinity as Rondé Barber’s historic pick-six.

The Bucs won by five. Another Packers touchdown would have doomed the Bucs.

Late in the first half, the Bucs had the ball, fourth down on the Green Bay-39. Most coaches would have punted or tried a field goal, and been content with an 18-10 lead (provided the field goal was made).

Instead, the Bucs have an old coach who goes by the motto of “No risk it; no biscuit.” And man, did Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians show his biscuits.

Park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady stepped back and heaved a pass to the end zone’s. That’s where his newest best friend since training camp, Scotty Miller, outraced Packers corner Kevin King (back hurting now, pal?) to haul in Brady’s pass and the Bucs took a 21-10 lead into the locker at halftime.

That ballsy call, that gutsy play, go for the biscuits or come up broke, turned out to be the difference.

No matter what happens in two weeks, when Arians retires and for as long as he is remembered, that play will sum up his personality.

And Joe suspects as long as NFL Films exists, that play will never die.

That play won the game. It helped as brady pulled a jameis in second half

  2. Seńor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I don’t think I ever screamed over a bucs game more than I did cheering Scooter for catching that ball

    It was 4th down Joe.

The breakdown of this play will run continually for at least the next two weeks. A true WTH? Moment.

  7. Will Says:

I can’t lie when they sent the offense back out on the 4th down I was like WTF are we doing. That was beyond a ballsy call definitely lived up to the moto right there.

  8. Miller5252 Says:

Arians will be clanking walking down the hall all week after that call. With a pair that big I don’t know how he even sits down. Arians looked like Randy from South Park when he microwaved his sack to get medical smoke. Haha

  9. Tye Says:

The Super Bowl-or-bust crowd can put that in their pipe and smoke it or choke on it!
When a team has a great qb, the team wins and has much success…

HISTORY in the making… 1st team to play in a SB in the own stadium… Can’t take that away from them now!

  10. Joe Says:

    It was 4th down Joe.

That’s what Joe thought but damned if the play-by-play on BSPN doesn’t have “1-10.”

  11. Leighroy Says:

Joe, much love. But you’re relatively new to Bucs fandom. Ronde is 1st by a country mile. This play was somehow both epic and meaningless all at the same time. If it closed out the game, different conversation.

Ronde literally shut down the Vet. Are they imploding Lambeu anytime soon? No sir.

  12. Swampbuc Says:

Honestly I thought the bigger stones was going for it on 4th down and converting. The Scotty play was the game winner but the stones were on the play before.

  13. ModHairKen Says:

Thank you, Joes. This has been a fabulous year and a great forum.

  14. EA Says:

Big biscuits also led to 3 interceptions so I’m not sure why they kept forcing the issue, you have a comfortable lead, play conservative.

  22. Bucfanforever Says:

It was first down people. Fournette picked up the 4th down conversion on the previous play.

  23. Dew Says:

Lightning won the Stanley Cup. Rays played in the World Series. And Bucs are going to the Super Bowl. All in the same season. And with the threat of Covid.

  24. NaplesBucsFan Says:

  27. Usedtocould Says:

So fun to see all the players we root for through thick and thin win the nfc chip! Go Bucs!

  28. Bucfanforever Says:

Admin- the fourth down play was the 6 yard pass to Fournette to the right. Then it was first and ten.

  29. Joe Says:

fourth down play was the 6 yard pass to Fournette to the right. Then it was first and ten.

    Yup.

  30. August 1976 Buc Says:

That is a great way to win 7 in a row for the first time ever, but even better win 8. GO BUCS!!!!!!

  31. Chris Boyd Says:

to clear it up, 4th down they hit the pass to fournette with 6 seconds left, then hit the td

  32. PSK Bucs Fan Says:

So when will Joe(s) drop the park violating and other meaningless BS and use Bucs Franchise saving……

  33. Colonel Angus Says:

That was the same scenario and play at the end of the Oakland…..Vegas Raiders game, was it not?

  34. View from 132 Says:

I thought the opposite, anti-biscuit call by Green Bay with 4 minutes left was as strange. Thanks for the FG attempt, Packers.

  35. Leighroy Says:

Mea culpas all around. My euphoria has clouded everything apparently!

  36. Formally Tampa 2 Says:

Joe, wouldn’t be the 1st time I’ve been proven wrong. But the bus didn’t make it to 1st down on 3rd down and then they called time out. And instead of the punter coming out it was Brady. The rest is scooter history.

  37. Leighroy Says:

In other news, is Scott Norwood available for the Bills in 2 weeks? Asking for a friend

  38. Capt.Tim Says:

    Huge play!
Now, we gotta cheer for the Bills.
Dont wanna see Tyrek Hill again.
Bills are a better match up!

  39. REDZONE BA Says:

Twice, Rogers had green to run it in for a TD. Maybe afraid of getting pummeled? Choke city.

  40. David Says:

Bucs get a TD because they go for a 4 and 3 with seconds left in the first half.

Packers, down by 8, 4th and goal … kick a field goal with 2:09 left in the game.

You got to have the cojones

    *****Park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, NFC-CHAMPIONSHIP-WINNING, Bucs quarterback Tom Brady*****

  43. Tackleblockwin Says:

    Lmao Southern Buc!

  44. REDZONE BA Says:

@David – yep. For Dodgeball movie fans – expect lots of memes this week “Cram it up your cram hole, LaFluer” for kicking a FG. DUDE – you got AR, and you kick a FG with a Super bowl berth on the line? Anti-biscuit coach.

Would be great to see Brady-Mahomes again…..no way does Brady lose at home for SB. 7 rings!

  45. Tbbucs3 Says:

I do not want to face the Cheifs again…..let’s go Bills!

  46. 123urout Says:

The Buccaneers are no longer the Yuckaneers! They will now be called 2020 NFC CHAMPIONS !!! This is like a dream!!!

  47. David Says:

For everyone scared of the Chiefs… The Buccaneers shut them out for 3/4. The defense is playing much better since then. They basically had a really bad quarter and then completely outplayed them. I’m not saying it would be easy, but they don’t scare me.

  48. Swampbuc Says:

Bucs can beat either AFC team.

  49. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

This team is gonna win the Super Bowl. There is no doubt. We will beat either of these teams. I was really pissed off about 2 timeout calls at the end of the 1st half and really pissed off about going for it on 4th and 3. I wanted to go to the half up 4, 14-10.
That’s why I drink beer and vape on the couch.

  50. Bucs4821 Says:

    @Colonel Angus

I was thinking the same thing. It might have even been the same play from the Raiders game.

  51. Craig Says:

Caught the Pack flat-footed, they didn’t expect it and it broke them. I wish I knew what happened in their locker room.

Rogers came out for the second half with a worried look in his eyes.

  54. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

I still can’t believe they left him one on one in that situation!! Especially knowing Brady likes to hit Miller in those situations!! …. Drop brown!! Keep Godwin and develop Scotty!! He’s going to be a solid player for years to come and Brown will eventually screw up!!…. Can’t stop saying it… What a game!!!

  55. The Daily Coroner Says:

“ late in the first half“ – 1 second left!
    Yeah. That’s late all right!

  56. bojim Says:

Brady was ugly in the 2nd half but we did enough to win

On to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!! Go Bucs!!!

  60. JimBuc2 Says:

Woody Hayes hated the forward pass. “Only three things can happen, and two of them aint good.” But what a time to be good. Matt Lafluer got schooled.
    Bring back the Lombardi.
    Tampa Titletown USA!!
