You Have A Winner, Bucs Fans

December 20th, 2020

Bucs RT Tristian Wirfs celebrates Bucs securing a winning season.

In all the giddiness of a wild come-from-behind win over the hated rival Dixie Chicks, the Bucs did something today that sadly has become all too rare in these parts after the franchise kicked Chucky out of One Buc Palace.

The Bucs today are winners!

No, not just the game. The Bucs are really winners! The Bucs improved their record to 9-5 with two more games to play.

As a result, the Bucs have secured just the third winning season in the post-Chucky era. Think about that. Only three times since 2008 have the Bucs had a winning record.

And barring an unforeseen collapse, it appears the Bucs may be playoff-bound for the first time since Chucky was here.

In 2010 under Raheem Morris, the Bucs, out of nowhere, pulled off a 10-6 record and were screwed by referees out of an 11th win. The Bucs finished third in the NFC South and missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker.

Six years later — six! — in 2016. Dirk Koetter got the Bucs to nine wins in his first season as head coach.

That season they shot themselves in the foot during an overtime loss to Oakland. The notorious Hey Jude! — cornerback Jude Adjei-Barimah — got flagged for defensive holding on fourth down that would have sealed a win. Instead, Oakland scored and won the game. That haunted the Bucs when they lost out in a tiebreaker as well for another wild card berth.

With a win against the toothless Lions in Detroit next week, the Bucs will likely secure a wild card berth.

But, let’s drink in the fact that the Bucs are losers no more.

The Bucs are winners for 2020!

Here’s to hoping both lines find some serious consistency in the playoffs. If that happens they can go deep

  2. stpetebucsfan Says:

Green Bay may have been the only game we showed up with our A game the entire game. We’ve flashed it on and off throughout the season but the time approaches when we’ll need to show up for the kickoff…IMMEDIATELY…with our A game.

  3. Jmarkbuc Says:

Without a markedly improved D, we won’t go far. Oh and there’s the “no show “ first half offense as well…

    Here’s hoping 🤞🏻

  4. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

    It’s a good thing I don’t drink on Sundays.

I would have been sh!tfaced drunk by halftime and would have missed the comeback!

    It’s a Buc’s life!

  5. Rod Munch Says:

Bucs need to win of these final two to wrap things up, otherwise he’d need GB to beat the Bears in week 17 to get in — and would the Packers rather play Bucs or Bears in the playoffs?

Just win one of these next two and we don’t need to worry about it.

  6. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Need to play a full 60 minutes once we get in the playoffs, or we’re gonna be one and done, unless we play the NFC East Champs.

  7. Tamoabaybucfan Says:

With a win against the toothless Lions at the Den of Depression, the Bucs will likely secure a wild card berth.

Likely?……I think it locks up a playoff…..only 2 other teams can get to 10 wins other than the division winners….

  8. Aceofaerospace Says:

It sure feels good. Now finish it.

  9. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Alvin

I don’t wanna play the Giants again.

  10. ModHairKen Says:

All this “start fast” and “consistency” crap. Just win the damn game and then focus on next week. ATL and MN started fast against the Bucs. How’d that turn out?

BTW, the GB game was not perfect either. Tt hey got hit in the mouth on the 1st 2 drives until they started messing up Rodgers’s hair.

    The game is 60 minutes.

  11. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Jmark. Who would you rather play? GB, Seattle, Rams, NOLA? Give me the NFC Least Winner all day long!

  12. james m Says:

bucs G tristian wirfs ?????? LOL

  13. TheBradyBunch Says:

Rod the Bucs are in. Basically would take an epic collapse as well as an epic upset for the Bears to beat the Packers. Bucs will probably win the last two. The focus now should be on who we would prefer to face in the playoffs.

  14. Buczilla Says:

I’ll enjoy this until at least next Saturday.

  15. HeyItsAdam Says:

People don’t remember that HEY JUDE cost the Bucs TWO games that year. TWO. Both were Lock-em-up wins.

They win both of those, they’re in the playoffs and book on Jameis is written differently.

  16. unbelievable Says:

Only a fool thinks the Bucs are in and now we should be focused on who we’re gonna play in the first round.

No, we should focus on winning these next 2 games to ensure we actually get to the frickin playoffs.

Or maybe you guys already forgot that we barely beat Minnesota and Atlanta, two bad teams. In fact I’d say Minnesota lost that game much more than we won it. Or that we lost 4 out of our 5 previous games before that.

  17. Allbuccedup Says:

The Bucs have just a good of chance of unseating the Chiefs as anyone else just look at the Saints we just have to get there.

  18. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Alvin

Somehow the Gmen always kick our a$$… whether there good bad or otherwise.

    And at there house too…

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

Oh and I think we could beat Nola, if BA & company would pull there heads out of there a$$es and do their job

  20. DBS Says:

Yes The GB game was the same. Defense being the defense. Gave up 10 points on the first 2 drives. So not much has changed. And that was with Vea playing. If we get to the playoffs the only way you can see things go is slow start and hope to come back in the second half.

  21. JimBuc2 Says:

HetItAdam, listenup dude. The book on Jackwagon Jameis will always and forever be Mr 30/30. That is his legacy. Now he is Sean Payton’s problem.
    Merry Christmas everyoned
    Go Bucs!

  22. Frank Pillow Says:

Remember when we crowed Dirk for going 9-7? Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled that we’re breaking through, but let’s not pretend that there aren’t serious issues with this team’s preparation, schematics and game-planning. One could argue that Rah’s ‘race to’ 10-6, smoke-n-mirrors included, was the best Bucs’ coaching job since the Super Bowl. That was NOT a loaded roster. This one is. Short of vets in the secondary, BA has a bounty of ‘named brand’ talent…what he has done with it hasn’t exactly been impressive. We are winning in spite of coaching.

  23. #1bucfan Says:

Cheers. Even tho I was furious with the 1st half Bucs the 2nd half was legit. Tighten up boys but for tonight we celebrate. Go Bucs.

  24. Pigsueybucsfan Says:

Game against Detroit is in Detroit.

  25. Oneilbucs Says:

I love this guy he was a good pick !!!
