Team Glazer Is Back!

December 26th, 2020

Buccaneers co-chairmen Bryan and Joel Glazer

The 12-season Buccaneers playoff drought is over!

And Joe’s all fired up for Team Glazer, the ownership class presiding over the spectacular pile of garbage that collectively was the Buccaneers from 2008 through 2019.

The guys who like to hide from the media spotlight deserve a massive high-five.

Team Glazer decided to be bold last year and hire Bucco Bruce Arians, a guy coming off a retirement party and all kinds of serious health issues. They made him take an extensive physical to get the job and the gamble paid off.

Team Glazer also agreed to fund what’s considered the largest coaching staff in the history of professional football. And Bucs fans have finally enjoyed quality player development on both sides of the football.

Joe’s also going to credit Team Glazer for being willing to open the vault for Tom Brady and adopt a completely win-now mentality for a full offseason. Not every ownership group would be willing to go there with an ancient QB.

Team Glazer deserved all the daggers, sneers and screams for the mess of The Lost Decade, especially after not demanding the Bucs sign veteran help entering the 2011 season, letting Michael Bennett walk and allowing Lovie Smith to name Josh McCown the Bucs’ starting QB nearly six months before the 2014 opening day. And don’t get Joe started on Team Glazer not issuing refunds for tanking at home to close the 2014 season, among other messes.

But that’s old news today. Ancient history. As much as Team Glazer was on a crappy streak, now they’re back.

None of this season was a fluke. It was calculated from the top.

Take a bow, Team Glazer.

    Congratulations Bucs!!!
Now who do we root for in this week’s remaining nfl games???

  6. Christopher Schiefen Says:

And kept Licht on (& fired Lovie on his rec): Licht brought Bruce, and Bruce and Licht’s roster brought Brady.

  7. Miller5252 Says:

Big Seahawks fan this weekend. They win and Bucs next week and we play the worse division in football. The D line for the football team worry me….. but their offense is horrible if Alex Smith isn’t in there.

  8. El_Buc941 Says:

@Elita Vita we root for the NFC EAST BABY! Its not WHO do we wanna play but WHERE? Dallas? New York? Washington?

  9. TBSwarm Says:

The Glaziers saw a way to sell tickets and merchandise and got a bonus that it worked out, imo. Let see what happens when TB12 retires.

@elita vita, I’ll root for the Cowboys (against Washington, to be honest, I don’t want to face that DL), for the the Packers (against the Saints, of course) and for the Seahawks (if the Rams loose, the Bucs clinches the 5th seed with a win next week).

  12. Miller5252 Says:

Wouldn’t it be great as Buc fan to not only beat the Saints in the playoffs but send ole Drew down the road with a L in his last game. Sure hope it’s the NFC Championship game we get a chance to do it to em.

    –We ALL deserve a high-five!!!

Everywhere I’ve gone while traveling for work people know that I’m a Bucs fan, because I wear my gear, usually a hat. They mostly all say that I’m the only Bucs fan that they know of. I always feel pride when I hear that, and I’m not sure exactly why, because I would NEVER desert the pirate ship. Those guys are MY crew, good or bad. Admittedly, I much prefer the good.

I can only hope that this date is remembered as when the franchise turned itself around. We all deserve that, as well.

    Cheers, fellow Bucs fans!🍻🍾🥂

If the Bucs win against the Falcons the Bucs are the number 5 seed regardless of who wins between Seattle and the Rams.

    1) If Seattle wins and the Bucs win the Bucs would have a better record than the Rams.

    2) If the Rams win and the Bucs win the Bucs would have the tie brake over Seattle
(Bucs would have a better winning percentage against common opponents over Seattle).

I was at the Bucs playoff game vs NY Giants. I cant believe that was our last playoff game. And the loss to the skins with Chris Simms when our NO.1 D held skins to under 150 yards but two key turnovers killed us.
Were in now, but lets break another streak..

    FIRST PLAYOFF WIN SINCE SUPERBOWL!

    The optimist approves this!

  16. Wesley Says:

Don’t you dare lose that first game. Or it’s all for NOTHING.

  17. NPRSageBoy Says:

A Bucs Saints NFC Championship game would be sweet.

    Peace, out

  18. JimbobBucsFan Says:

    RIGHT ON, Christopher Schiefen! 😆

Let the Negative Nellies among fans and pundits finally fall silent. Let those who only can only see the past, who have not watched and analyzed the past THREE years closely and have not understood the progress of this franchise on many fronts, let them jump on the band wagon now.

Go Bucs, get on a roll for the playoffs! Trounce the Falcons next week!

  19. PSL Bob Says:

Been a BUCs fan since their inception in 76. That Super Bowl victory in 2002 will always be the pinnacle of elation for me, but making it to the playoffs after this long drought is getting me pumped up again. Let’s get a win next week and ride a winning streak into the NFC East game.

  21. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Only way the Bucs don’t make the #5 seed is if Seattle and the Rams tie, and that ain’t gonna happen. We should be able to beat the NFC Least winner.

  22. Bojim Says:

    Many kudos to Team Glazer.

  23. ModHairKen Says:

Signing Brady was genius because no one can ever tell the Brady story without mentioning his time in Tampa.
