More Than Just Lost Practice

December 19th, 2020

Has time to throw.

A common blubbering from announcers every time Tom Brady misses a throw is that lost spring practices because of The Sickness have affected Bucs players on the field.

One friend of Bucco Bruce Arians suggests the non-traditional offseason — and season — have hurt in another area.

Retired Pro Bowl running back Tiki Barber, who literally was babysat by Arians and still has a bond with him, was chattering about Arians and his relationship with Brady this week on CBS Sports Radio.

Barber maintained that throughout Arian’s career he has gone out of his way to build close personal relationships with his quarterbacks so he would have enough invested to be tough on them during a season.

Essentially, per Barber, if a QB is your buddy and you’ve spent a lot of time golfing and hanging out with him, then the QB knows you care and he’ll be willing to hear candid talk and engage in good debate when it comes to his football.

But The Sickness screwed all that up for Arians and Brady, Barber said. Too little time to hang out meant much more time required for Arians and Brady to build trust.

The chatter a few weeks ago that Brady was unhappy with Arians, per Barber, “that comes from Brady’s camp, and it’s probably because the understanding wasn’t quite there yet.”

Barber insists all is happy now with Arians and Brady. (Keep in mind Bucs legend Rondé Barber, Tiki’s brother, was scheduled to play in the NFL-cancelled golf foursome with Brady and Arians in Tampa this month.)

Tiki Barber maintained that Brady was criticized heavily behind the scenes in New England, just not publicly like he has been by Arians. Therefore, Barber cautioned anyone against thinking Brady can’t take it. It’s just different and really no big deal because the takes are honest.

Joe hopes Brady truly is thin-skinned.

Imagine if the Bucs make the playoffs and Brady has a rough game in a Bucs loss. Would Brady be down on returning if Arians called out Brady’s failings out to the media?  That would be a brutal way to end a season.

This HAS to be a typo, right?

Thin skinned ‘cause I be drinkin’!

Brady has had two chances to lead the team to a win in the two minute situation. He gagged ferociously both times.

Better not be losing in the last two minutes or it’s a big L.

Sorry but Tiki is a Hack reporter.. borderline hall of famer who quit one year to early.

Great respect for Barber brothers – as players. But they both are hacks, when it comes to reporting. Tiki cheated on his pregnant wife, in her 8th month – who does that???? Tiki has ZERO relevance. Ronde – he supposedly has Bucs Insider info. We shall see.

No WAY – is Tiki Barber – a HOF! Agree, that Tiki is a Hack reporter, and horrible husband. (Cheated on his wife at 8th month of pregnancy.)

Let us not diminish Rondé’s post NFL career because his brother is an Fu#k -boy. His work with Buccaneers.com is rather good, and he has a much more accomplished career than his home wrecking twin brother.

Brady hasn’t lost his first buc playoff game yet.
Day might never come, so don’t worry our pretty little heads just yet.

    @ redzone

Who does that? Ask the orange one in chief

One of the reasons Ronde is so well respected is he is blessed with more humility than his brother, IMO. Any recognition he receives is well earned.

This is the stuff you see on the tabloids at the checkout counter at Publix….

    What a load of BS….

Such an up and down season this has been. Bucs look great one week and poor the next. Bucs struggle against teams with really strong defense. But thats true for most teams. This is a game the Bucs should win big. But they have been so inconsistent on offense my expectations have gone way down. On a good day they can beat most teams and play the good teams close. Got to admit my expectations have come way down after too many games with the offense sputters. Squeaking out close wins against non playoff teams is not encouraging. Bucs need some big wins in these last three games if they are to have much hope in the playoffs. Win or lose I am all in. But my expectations have taken a big hit mostly due to the so so play of the offense. Way too many three and outs in the first quarter in way too many games.

Where were all the fans when Brady crushed Green Bay! Why not bring your old QB back ? He was a star !
