Full Circle For Will Gholston

December 27th, 2020

Survivor.

Three Bucs have endured some of the worst football seasons in recent memory, and yesterday they finally saw all their sweat and toil pay off when the Tampa Bay clinched a playoff berth, its first since 2007.

Will Gholston is one of two Schiano Men on the roster. Lavonte David is the other.

Gholston has turned into a very solid player. He may never make a Pro Bowl but he’s tough on the run and sneaky-good batting down passes. The Detroit native is a “glue guy,” to use Dirk Koetter’s term.

As a youth all-star, Gholston remembered getting a chance to play on Ford Field, home of the Lions. That just whetted his appetite even more for football. So clinching a playoff berth after all of these awful years on the same field as his hometown NFL team was special to Gholston, who recalled that day as a young player.

“When I was warming up [Saturday], I was thinking about the first time I had an opportunity to get on Ford Field,” Gholston remembered. “It was a big thing. I was in little league. It was a POW All-Star practice and just knowing I wanted to play there as a little kid. I think I was 11 or 12.

“To be able to come here and win is great. It’s a great feeling for me and then I get to come home and smile in front of my family, so they don’t get to talk any trash.”

And Gholston confirmed that Bucs veterans acquired by AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht the past two offseasons, guys like Ndamukong Suh, Shady McCoy, Antonio Brown and yes, Tom Brady, with their postseason experience, really helped the players who had never seen the playoffs.

“They have a lot of leadership that they gave us – a lot of tips,” Gholston said. “They know what it’s like to get to the playoffs, some of them know what it’s like to win. We have somebody that’s won six Super Bowls, so to have that type of leadership, to have those guys show us the way is good. It made it an easy transition for us.”

Joe sure hopes those tips keep coming. In two weeks, sh!t gets real.

Damn, the playoffs. Joe has almost forgotten what that’s like. It makes Joe want to start chugging a Big Storm beer.

Survivor indeed. Drafted as a raw “man child”…his career has far exceeded expectations as well as being a better pro than his much ballyhooed cousin Vernon…picked 6th overall in 2008. Not bad for a 4th rounder…

  2. Bird Says:

    Joe

As your attorney , I recommend you start chugging big storm beer early on a Sunday

The celebration crown royal (with cheese) will start flowing shortly
Watching bucs replay now. That first half was filthy
And think We need seahawks to win i think.

  3. SB : Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Gholston is exactly what you hope when picking a 4th round player……longevity….starter….good attitude…..solid pick….

  6. Mike C Says:

Ahhhh the complete absence of trolls…….it is a great day!

  7. LVMYBUCS Says:

I am so very happy about this team I know the Lions are not good but yesterday I saw a team that was starting to click. The Bucs have deep good players (Vaugh) my only problem is the secondary. I did some bench secondary players play better then first. I could care less if we make it to the SB I just love the culture change that has come with JPP, Brady AB ect. Congrats Bucs you deserve it after having to swallow the lies that Jameis Winston was our savior.

  8. RICHARD weeks Says:

Seems like ndog has left joebucsfan.
Now only if we could get rid of El Bucco and his stupid sheep comments.

  9. Bird Says:

    SB and RICHARD

The rumor is he checked himself into psych ward at tampa general and was later diagnosed with extreme sadness

  10. El Buco Realisto Says:

If you can’t draft them, then you have to buy those good players!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately for the sheep, it is just another example that the most pressing problem was the terrible GM that constructed a poorly designed roster and not a “coaching” problem as licht bulb and ole stale biscuit falsely claimed a year and a half ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy it now sheep, “reality” is right around the corner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Maccam Says:

Ah come on those guys are as much a part of the family as anyone else. It would be boring without em. I’ve been jaded myself because of this teams god awful play over this lost decade. All I know is that right now we all feel the same – ecstatic!

  12. Buc1987 Says:

Realist you’re are looking so stupid lately.

I wonder what you’d be saying if they were losing these games….

I don’t care if they rented these players to make a run at the playoffs or the SB.

Most of them will be back next season….the core anyways… as well as….

BRUCE ARIANS and his golf cart….. Are you still going to whine about BA through next season too? They’re doing something right. They’re winning.

That’s all that matters. Go Bucs!!!!!!

  13. Joe in Michigan Says:

El Buco Realisto is so delusional and dysfunctional that he/she doesn’t even realize the Bucs are 10-5. Yep, nothing but bad things to say, then this phony baloney has the nerve to type “go bucs (sic, he/she isn’t smart enough to use capital letters) at the end of her/his post. I was hoping this creep would get a 55 gallon drum full of Midol for Christmas so the REAL Bucs fans wouldn’t be bothered with such gibberish.

Go El Buco Realisto!!!!!!!!!!!! Go away!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. PuertoRicanBucFan Says:

Haven’t seen T Maxipad around much either. I guess they got tired of looking like fools. Except for Buco Realisto. He enjoys looking like a fool🤣

  15. Buc1987 Says:

    Nice English huh? you’re are?

Whatever….I’m half blind as it is.

  16. Listnfrmafar Says:

The sheep are in the meadow, the Bucs are in the PO’s. Lions were a 5-9 professional football team that is capable of winning on any given Sunday. The Bucs could of crapped themselves but instead dominated. So El Bozo I say go back to ur meadow and tend to ur sheep. Wink wink

  17. Mike C Says:

Spoke too soon…. but it is nice when the trolls have no teeth.

  18. stpetebucsfan Says:

“Enjoy it now sheep, “reality” is right around the corner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Trust me Realist we are ENJOYING it now. It’s the freaking playoffs you moron and it’s doubly fun for us watching our trolls squeal as if they’d been doused with troll remover.

So we’re in the playoffs this year Realist. Better start preparing your doom and gloom posts for 2021…lets see…we’ve already heard all the BA trash and how old Brady is…Licht sucks…yadda yadda yadda. Not this year thought Bud.

What a difference. For 13 years we’ve had to say wait until next year. But since the Bucs are good this year it’s poor Realist who has to say wait until next year.

  19. WillieG Says:

    Leadership, what a concept.

  20. RICHARD weeks Says:

Wish joe would banish these trolls that can’t be happy for us true bucs fans

  21. Bird Says:

    Yup. Im enjoying myself too.

    El bucco realistico

  22. geno711 Says:

    @Realist proven wrong comments —

On Gronk injured and out for season:

    El Buco Realisto Says:
    May 26th, 2020 at 8:22 am
The “real” fans agree with “seeing the “REAL” gronk by midseason” !!!!!!! But that will be about the time he will want to re-retire, and go back to making bad “reality” tv shows!!!!!!!!!!!! The “real” fans just hope that bronk will be able to limp of the field on his own broken down legs!!!!!!!!!!

On the Bucs defense get creamed by Green Bay:

    El Buco Realisto Says:
    October 15th, 2020 at 12:39 pm
While it was a huge loss for the defense losing Vita!!!!!! The “toilet bowles” defense was going to be exposed either way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Packers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! errrrrr, I mean, go bucs!!!

On why the Bucs should not draft an OL in the 1st round:
    El Buco Realisto Says:
    March 19th, 2020 at 10:22 am
The sheep will nuts for drafting OT in the first, or trading for an OT!!!!!! But when a draft is deep in a postion. Usually there will be a robust secondary market for OT from teams cutting older , overpayed OT that can be had on the cheap!!!!!!!!! Also, that second round OT market free agent has experience and can play well THIS year, as a drafted rookie will have growing pains!!!!!!! If you are going to mortgage the future, might as well to try to maximize draft picks that can contribute right away!!!!!!!!!!!

On giving the coaching staff no credit for the development of young players like Wirfs, Winfield, Davis, Cappa, Rojo, or White.

    El Buco Realisto Says:
    September 25th, 2020 at 12:04 pm
Just another example of this regime not able to “coach up” or “develop” players!!!!!!!! There has only been player replacement with no player develppment!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Bird Says:

    Geno

Good finds. He is definitely a troll. He said go packers in one post

  24. Rod Munch Says:

Gholston should enjoy it, he’s making $5.5m next year and I doubt the team can afford to keep him (although it’s close).

  25. Bucsfanman Says:

I’ll give credit for him being solid these last couple of years. For the money we have paid him over the years for being “pedestrian”, at best, it’s nice to finally see production.
You guys giving Realist(o) any response are wasting your time.
“Reality” is here and now. And, for the 1st time since the Earth cooled, we clinched a playoff berth!

  26. No Risk It No Biscuit Says:

    Geno!!!!!!!! Great finds…..good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. No Risk It No Biscuit Says:

We should all re-post them after his next post!!!!!!!!!lol

  28. Ben the GA Buc Says:

Lol @Geno. Awesome finds. So sick of that dude basically running his own moronic blog in the JBF comment section.

  29. Dlavid Says:

Take it easy Joe ! Lately all the Big storm beverages you are consuming due to Buccaneer success may alter your observations !

  30. Jeffbuc Says:

JOE!!! Is NDOG in moderation or did he just quit by himself. We all really want to know. We heard all offseason his stupid talk. We all I think are curious if you banned him or he just left. Please let us real joe bucs fans know. We went through hell during the offseason from him. Just like tmax before him and ghost of darrellhenderson. Who’s man crush still hasn’t done anything. But swore all offseason we would regret not drafting the second coming. Of Barry Sanders.
