Donovan Smith Is Re-Activated

December 22nd, 2020

Bucs LT Donovan Smith.

The Buccaneers’ starting left tackle is off the NFL virus list (he was a “close contact,” not infected) and is ready to play this week after missing Sunday’s game in Atlanta.

Donovan Smith is back, baby!

Joe thanks Josh Wells for his service.

not a hater or anything like some who really dislike him…..but

he wasn’t missed, especially the penalties.

  2. bucfanforever Says:

Robert, did you watch the first half?

  3. Mitch Says:

I don’t think Robert saw the same game I did. I think we are all aware that Donovan can be inconsistent at times, and the Saints always eat his lunch… But he would not have given up the amount of pressure Brady saw in the first half of that Atlanta game. No way.

  4. Robert Says:

i saw the 1st 1/2…. I was not watching him closely, but I certainly did not see any revolving door action or player going unblocked towards brady or false starts……something we consistently see with smith. smith is huge and he cn pancake guys, but he loafs a LOT and it’s that one loaf that gets the qb clobbered that irks me. and he is just like….duh, what had happened was….

over rated but keep him until you can replace him.

  5. ModHairKen Says:

    Welcome back, Big Man!

  6. Jason Says:

    D. Smith will spend most of his career as the 9th to 13th best left tackle in the league.
    It is what it is.

  7. Doctor Stroud Says:

Brady was sacked three times, and two of those came on blitzes attacking the left side. One of those plays called for max protection on the left side, and he still got sacked. The more healthy bodies back, the better.

  8. Godlovesbucs Says:

I agree with jason. The hard part is his contract vs production. But as long as the books balance and we are able to add talent then its worth it to keep him. You could have a lot worse than smith at left tackle for now.

  9. Anthony Dickson Says:

Hopefully the week off did him some good. Love the man but sometimes his play can be frustrating.

  10. 813bucboi Says:

    i agree with Robert….

    oline looked about the same…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  11. Jedleman Says:

Don’t know what game some of u watched but he was definitely missed. Lots of pressure and 2 sacks off that left side.

  12. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Donovan was not missed.

  13. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Donovan Smith is the best left tackle we currently have. Yes, Wells did a good job, but Brady was more pressured than usual from the left side.

  14. SOEbuc Says:

Without Ali at LG Smith would get his lunch money taken every week.

  15. kyle Says:

not sure robert pays attention like he claims.

  16. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Between the last bye week and his Covid vacation he should be rested and healed up from the season… so the glass is half full

  17. Architek Says:

    Yawn….

  18. Jedleman Says:

When you constantly bash and belittle another person it is an indictment on you and your character. To do so means you are very insecure and bitter in your own life. Donovan Smith has had a good year. Some of you have previous bias against him.

  19. Bucfandan Says:

I don’t like smith but he’s better than wells and allows the backs to become receivers instead of blockers so I’m happy he’s back but I feel like this offseason that position and a corner are in dire need

  20. Allbuccedup Says:

Smith is ok, but not near 14 mil that hes being paid.
