Lions Close Team Facility After Positive Virus Tests

December 22nd, 2020

Is the Buccaneers’ Saturday game in jeopardy?

That’s unclear after the Detroit Lions shut their practice facility today after two positive tests for COVID-19. The team confirmed the tests were of one player and one non-player.

The official word from the Lions is that they are monitoring the situation and gathering information.

The Bucs-Lions game is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m., so obviously there is lots of wiggle room to move the game if the league desired. If rescheduled, that would be the second change of the season for the Bucs. They were booted off Sunday Night Football after the Raiders had virus issues during that game week.

Joe suspects many Bucs wouldn’t mind playing on Sunday, traveling on Saturday rather than on Friday, which is Christmas Day.

A delay potentially could help Ronald Jones get back on the field. He’s rehabbing a broken finger and dealing with positive virus tests himself. It’s unclear whether he would be cleared to play on Saturday.

The world according to Wuhan rules is a crazy place.

    Peace, out

  2. Ftmyersbuc Says:

It all depends on the covid tests over the next couple days. As long as they don’t start having new ones each day, game on.

  3. Mitch Says:

As long as there isn’t an outbreak I think they play. With all the intensive protocols in place it’s really hard for the virus to spread through the building like it did with the Titans or Ravens…. as long as the lions have been following the protocols that is.

  4. SlyPirate Says:

The Bucs start slow because they are “disinterested”. Giving the Bucs another reason they should win actually plays to their weakness … Bravado induced ennui.

Expect another come from behind victory.

  5. Bucfan81 Says:

Yes I hope they do delay not only to help the players out that are injured but also because I won’t be able to watch the game Saturday for the first time in about 20 years. I hope they move it to Sunday or Monday.

I doubt if someone on the team really has it they all just rather be home for Christmas with family I understand and respect that the lions made this story up for that

  7. Pewter Power Says:

Yes because apparently the largest coaching staff in the NFL needs more prep time. If they had to play a day sooner they probably won’t wake up until midway through the 4th quarter.

Great … Buckuck spidee senses are giving me the feeling that game will be the first ever canceled and not replayed game in NFL history and somehow some convoluted NFL obscure rules will have an adverse affect on the Bucs and the playoffs… somewhere Jerry Markbriet is rubbing his hands together in delight

  9. Listnfrmafar Says:

Well BA kick ur feet up, if the game is played Sunday u can now start ur gameplan Saturday with BL & Bolles the other 2/3 of the three stooges

I thought FSU played in the ACC, not the NFC Central?

  11. Grizam Says:

move it so we can all watch it lol

  12. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

What if they can’t play at all? How will that affect us? It won’t be a win for us, right?

I suspect our division is going to come down to the final game of the season. If we lose a game, it might completely make us miss the playoffs.

I realize things are not perfect, but sheesh. We’ve got a winning season at last and could make the playoffs. Show a little gratitude!

  14. DaBux Says:

It takes two days to fly our entire coaching staff anywhere. So yes, Sunday would be better.

  15. BucfaninMi Says:

@ Grizam it’s on NBC nationally televised.

I am so frickin’ RONA out.

  17. Doolnutts Says:

Postponing the game might bring us some luck. Extra day might make it easier to clear Ronald Jones if he tests negative
