Shaky Numbers From Quarterback

November 24th, 2020

Nope.

If, oh, say, Joe Flacco or Baker Mayfield or Ryan Fitzpatrick or Mitch Trubisky had as many picks as he had touchdowns in his past three games, you’d start coughing violently because your beer went down the wrong hatch from laughing.

If Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston had five picks and five touchdowns in his last three games, you’d likely nod your head and scoff.

Now insert the name “Tom Brady,” and you will likely throw a half-full beer bottle at Joe’s head.

But yup, it seems Brady has decided to do quite an imitation of Jameis, only without the excitement and fun.

Brady has fully lost his long ball — and it is outrageous that Bucs coaches pretend as if this is some bad dream.

(And to think people wanted to tear seats from their foundation bolts at the Den of Depression complaining Jameis couldn’t hit his deep balls. The way Brady is off-target on long passes, Jameis looks like Pat Mahomes.)

It’s time for that biggest and brightest coaching staff to go back to the laboratory and find a magic elixir for Brady’s passing. And for crying out loud, if he can’t hit long passes in practice, QUIT calling for him to throw long passes in games and wasting valuable downs.

after some sleep i’ve awoke clearheaded and hyper focused…

to realize something has to be done about sean murphy-busting…

dude is just not playing well at all…

he’s a liability, while dean is likely concussed for the chiefs game…

so we have a real issue on the back end with these 2 guys…

ross cockrell and ryan smith to the rescue is probably not the answer vs patrick mahomes

  2. chummaster01 Says:

Brady-plus 3 TDs ,plus 150 yards minus 20 years = Jameis my formula for whats wrong with the Bucs fire Light,Arians- cut Brady and beg New Orleans to allow Jameis to comeback worst decision in Bucs history since running Doug Williams out of town overrated team!! What are we going to say when Tom Terriffic has 30 INTs (GOAT) oh I forgot Jameis fault !! What excuse do you have now ?

  3. August 1976 Buc Says:

Brady could definately play better. But the bottom line is Jameis played his way off the Team. Cant pay a guy 30 million that you do not trust, no matter how talented they are. Trust outweighs the stats. Yeah I sure wish thst Brady played better, but this season has still heen better then the lost decade. GO BUCS!!!!!

  4. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

the real story here is in the trenches.

brady was under duress all night.

Goff had ages to throw. no sacks = no win.

have this feeling we are going to have to get gimmicky to beat the Chiefs.

I know players can taste that bye… coaches need to earn their keep as much as the players in prep

  5. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Brady has consistently overthrown receivers this year….

And his Jameis Winston interceptions are getting old now….like him

  6. Alanbucsfan Says:

IMO, the play of the game was :19 before halftime, Rams on their own 45 with no timeouts, and Bucs give up 35 yard play to set up fg with :01 left in half-
that was the margin of victory and a huge momentum swing – Rams defense dominated in 3rd quarter.

  7. Chimichango Says:

Play calling is a little suspect. I think there is a power struggle going on. Brady is dink and dunk QB now. Just because he has weapons and a decent deep ball doesn’t mean you chunk it 12x a game. You have to play to Brady’s strength. One of the interceptions was because he couldn’t see/ step into his throw because DS got pushed into Brady’s face. That has to be priority in the off season.

  8. Horice Says:

All talking and writing heads told us that Brady “would never”. Now he has and the blame continues. He has more weapons, better RT, and we get this!

  9. BucEmUp Says:

Here comes the bias and excuses. Two reaaons the Bucs lost.

Entire first half the defnese played zone and gave up completion after completion at will leading to scores.

Leftwich sucks. You give any credible OC or headcoach/playcaller Mike Evans, rown, godwin, gronk, brate, miller and Brady and no offense sputters like this one. I called it that Jameis wasnt the problem and the proof would be in Brady throwing a career high interceptions whem he pkayed here. I swear fans are just as blind with football as they are politics sometimes.

Go ahead…make excuses for Brady when hes doing the same thing as BRADY. Its the team and coaches around him failing. The playcalling and designs are horrible and the defemse wait until its too late to show up

  10. BucEmUp Says:

Also no excuses with the oline please, Jameis was the most hit qb in the league for the number of games he played.Try again!!!!!!

  11. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Perhaps due to his age, Brady needs a cleaner pocket than other top QBs. When he has that he will carve you up. We do not have a championship quality offensive line. Simple as that. 325 lb #76 was constantly getting bull rushed by a linebacker. Not good enough.

  12. Mark2001 Says:

Not this again… A dog returning to eat his vomit. Jameis would never lead a team to a championship. I don’t know Brady can anymore either. But why look back to a guy that was at best a probowl alternate that never won anything in the pros?

  13. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Terrible offensive play calling for sure the WHOLE game

    Terrible QB play too

  14. Kobe Faker Says:

“Kobe Faker in the beginning of the season was adamant

He said repeatedly the key to the Bucs season was

    Unplug Byron Leftwich headset

Kobe Faker was mocked now proven rightt

    Have you no shame?”

    Kobe Faker

  15. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Byron Leftsuck ruin Josh Rosen

…………….get rid of Byron Leftsuck and the offense will dramatically improve

  16. Gofortheface30 Says:

We need to rebuild entire defensive line, that’s all we need to get in draft. And yet…we kinda need…oh I dunno…a quarterback of the future? Oh and cornerback – this is the last Mfing position we should be talking about because all these damn corners we’ve been drafting over the yrs you’d think the back end would be set. Our foundation is not as strong as we like to believe. Look, it’s a 10 win team as long as they stay healthy so it could be worse – but the Bucs have A LOT of decisions to make this offseason, and some decisions that will surely be unpopular with fans

  17. ClodHopper Says:

Just the deep ball, 2019 Jamies is better than 2020 Brady.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Please…..Jameis is 3rd string…..a good coach knows he can’t trust him.

Yes, Brady threw a very untimely pick last night and it was an uncharacteristic night from him…..but does anybody think we would be 7-4 with Jameis?

And, correct me if I’m wrong but all those deep passes aren’t necessarily the play call….Brady has options and chose to throw deep….and yes, he chose wrong.

Playcallig.. run up the middle on 1st down for 2 yards….empty backfield on 2nd down…..screen to RB on third…..How about play-action on 1st…..run on 2nd….and something anything beyond the sticks on 3rd.

  19. down in the dirt doug Says:

Look at our coaches—something not right there!!!Look at our players–they don’t seem confident in our game plans.Look at our opponent–they seem to know our every move—-AND THEY ARE ALL SMILES DURING THE GAME!!!!Does not matter who the quarterback is if your game plans are third rate.DEAR COACHES COME OUT WITH A BETTER GAME PLAN!!!!!!

  20. ATrain Says:

    REALLY JOE

    STILL BEATING THIS DRUM

WINSTON IS A 3RD STRING QB MAKING LEAGUE MINIMUM

    EVERYONE ELSE SEES IT

WHY are we still talking about a BUST.

  21. Buc68 Says:

Yes Bucs are 7-4 with Winston, probably better than that. The Bucs have a better OL and defense than when Winston was here.

  22. ATrain Says:

    Winston CANT WIN!!!

    He can throw 5000 yrds
    He can throw TDs

PROBLEM HE THROWS INT ABD LOSES GAMES

LOOK AT HIS LAST GAME SUMS IT UP

  23. adam from ny Says:

can we clone tristan wirfs a few times…

and simply have a crew of wirfs protecting the old brittle goat…

    then we’re good

    #LetsCloneWirfs

  24. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Buc68

    You are on crack.

  25. Hodad Says:

Whatever this Bucs team is, it won’t be after next season. The salary cap will be less, and we will be losing a good chunk of this roster. After 2021, Brady will be gone, and so will Arains if he isn’t canned at the end of this year. The rebuild is coming soon enough. Will it be sooner then we think? That’s up to the Glazers.

  26. Gofortheface30 Says:

Hodad – yes, agree 100%. The roster, is on a few levels, a house of cards so depending up on the Bucs finish will determine A LOT. What if they go 8-8 or 9-7? Does the massive overhaul begin now? What if Brady falls off a cliff and deteriorates. There’s more questions than answers when you really analyze this roster, the age of a lot of players and contracts and depth. Now – if they beat the chiefs, make it to divisional round, sure – run it back for a year and go at the super bowl. But do we want to delay the inevitable if they have a very Bucs like finish to year?

  27. 813bucboi Says:

shouldve ran the ball more but brady lost the game last night….he was off, seeing ghost and throwing the ball up for grabs…..

    GO BUCS!!!!

  28. BucEmUp Says:

Byron left which is the Mike Smith of the offence It will never live up or produce to the talent that they have required acquired because the guy calling plays was an average quarterback at best and has never been a successful play caller on any level of football in his entire career It’s pretty simple people get rid of left which stop playing zone coverage and this team will win every week

  29. Phred Says:

Went to the game. Brady looked off from the start of the first quarter. He missed several routine short passes. And the game plan with Brady largely throwing quick release passes, especially early on, indicate to me that the coaches — and Brady — lack confidence in our O-line.

  30. UKBuccaneer Says:

Jameis was just beat out by a gadget-QB. Sit down.

  31. Sleepy903 Says:

I wondered if Tom Brady’s arm would hold up a full season but the media loved to emphasize that Tom still had arm strength to throw the deep ball anytime he hit some one deep the first few weeks. It looks like he has lost some velocity and accuracy on that deep ball now. The offense is built around the deep ball.

Tom has cost the bucs 3 losses this year. That horrible game against the Saints, the Chicago game when he didn’t realize it was 4th down and last night with a horrible deep ball.

But at least we are selling merchandise right!!!!

  32. Rob Tanner Says:

Get in Brady’s space(head) = LOSS. It’s really that simple. He’s been throwing short passes for the last 5-7 years. Now being asked to wait and look for those deep threats. With pressure he forces throws. When he has time, he hits them. It’s that simple. And if you think about it, this is true for every QB in the league. None of them can be perfect in pressure every down. It also wouldn’t hurt if we can have our running backs to stop catching passes for halves of games.

  33. vic robertson Says:

same old bucs.same ole qb play.same old excuses. now same ole record?? we will see-but nine wins? for a qb who preaches mental discipline mental blah blah blah, he folds like a cheap suit if he gets his jersey dirty. 3 losses on brady- 3 games of ints, indecision and led down the path to mental lathargy. i will be shocked if the bucs get 10 wins- yeah im saying it. dont tell me the offense needs time- bs. throw it to the open guy. there were a few last nite-but dont throw to the other jerseys that are open.

  34. Clean House Says:

Here ya go fans, I will help clear it up for all of you.
We suck. We are not a good football team. We are not a playoff winning football team. We are an up and down mediocre team that flashes at times.
We are sloppy as usual and our coaches are dumb.
I enjoyed Jameis throwing for 5109 yards and leadin the NFL, in spite of being injured and not having his receivers for the end of the season. It was an explosive offense. This is miserable. And hard to watch. I also liked it more when Mike Evans was rightly featured.

  35. Clean House Says:

Todd Bowles is not a genius as the talking heads say. He is playing zone way to often in spite of it not working at all.

Leftwich is clueless and Arians is inconsistent and just not smart-
Why was Fournette featured when RoJo finally hit a groove?

  36. UKBuccaneer Says:

If you value QB yards and record setting interception numbers over wins, then I’m not sure what anyone can say to you.

  37. Augsut 1976 Buc Says:

A winning record is not miserable, best season since Jeff Garcia was here. That is a long time ago. 7-4 is still better than a losing record. GO BUCS!!!!!!

  38. Sesteprenelicus Says:

Your man-crush Winston averaged more picks per game than that, over an entire season, plus fumbles.

  39. unbelievable Says:

The excuses you guys continue to make for Brady are pathetic.
Definitely shows your true colors though.

  40. UKBuccaneer Says:

My true colours are red and pewter. I want playoffs, not yards.

  41. Augsut 1976 Buc Says:

Again in the immortal words of Herm Edwards “You Play to Win the Game” 3yards and a cloud of dust or bombs away, whatever just WIN!!!!! After 44 years of watching Football, pretty losses are still losses, and 3 yards and a cloud of dust and you win. I will take the win. The Bucs are the losingest team for the time they have played since 1976. Just WIN!! Yes winning is why you play the Game, Thank you Herm GO BUCS!!!!

  42. stpetebucsfan Says:

What TBBF and A Train said.

We were 28-42 with JW. He can’t even beat out an RB playing QB. In fairness to Hill perhaps he’s the prototype of the future…he’s not that far off from a Mahomes…better runner nowhere near as good a thrower but apparently BETTER than Jameis!

As for Brady. I discount that game because he clearly SUCKED. It was an uncharacteristic performance. The difference in that game was at QB. Their DL played well as did ours…we had a slightly better running game…they had the hotter QB. As the man used to say it’s as simple as that.

So we can act like it didn’t happen…or we can say that was a bad game the die is cast on this season anyway. Let’s hope it was just a clunker…everybody has them. If not we’ll be looking for a new QB next year. I do not believe Brady will hang on past his ability to at least compete. Who wants to be Johnny Unitas or Joe Namath?

Personally I’m not ready to give up yet. He’s made too many GREAT throws this year already to just write it off…throws that I was unused to seeing after five years of 28-42.

If Brady is over the hill we’ll find out and have to plan for a new QB. Thankfullly his name won’t be Jameis!

  43. Bucamania Says:

    Brady had happy feet again.

Bucs can’t beat a team with a good dline. Can’t stop a team that throws quick passes.

    Facts

  44. orlbucfan Says:

Brady is an old fart Methuselah. So is the head coach who signed him here. They are why we lost this game. Brady threw a pic and Rams scored 7. JPP picked off one, and could the QB wrinkle get 7? Nope, 3. This Bucs team is good enough to win the final games including the Chiefs. Will they? They will win enough to get in the playoffs. The overall talent amassed on this team deserves better.

  45. Thomas Says:

Let’s be clear.. Jameis would still be the Bucs QB if Brady was not available.. so if that’s the only reason to get rid of Jameis, it’s far to compare them. They knew Brady’s age and knew where his long ball was but they felt it would be much better than Jameis.. they were wrong..

I love BA as a coach but we all know Big Ben was the only QB that was successful in his first season in BA’s “no risk it, no biscuit” system.. Jameis throwing 30 picks was not normal for him.. he only threw 11 ints in 2017 and 15 in 2018… so why not give him a 2nd season in the system?! NFL contracts are year to year so they could’ve cut him.. they went with Brady and now the same thing is happening.. watch the narrative be about his 1st season in BA’s system..

Getting rid of Jameis was a said decision.. Especially for a 43 year old QB.. No matter great he was…

  46. Joe Says:

Let’s be clear.. Jameis would still be the Bucs QB if Brady was not available..

Arians had a thing for Bridgewater. Not sure if Bridgewater would have come here.

Also not sure if JPP or Suh or Fournette would be here if not for Brady.

  47. D-Rome Says:

It’s a disgrace there are people out there still comparing the two.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: 31 other teams came to the same exact conclusion the Buccaneers did with regards to Jay-Miss.

He’s not a starter. He’s not and never will be a long term solution for any team in the NFL. He is a BUST.

I don’t care how many anonymous executives out there said they think he’s a starting caliber QB because every single one of them essentially said, “Yeah he’s a starter but not for my team.” We hear the same kind of crap when it comes to guys like Tyrod Taylor or Ryan Fitzpatrick.

  48. Oneilbuc Says:

A Saints executive came out and said that the only reason hill is starting is because they didn’t want to lose Jamies like they lost Teddy Bridgwater. The players wanted Jamies to be the starting quarterback . Facts !!!! But I told yall that Brady suck the last 2 years and yall didn’t want to believe me . But we will make the playoffs because our schedule is real soft after the Chiefs game . But Playoffs is not good enough it’s superbowl or bust I told yall that so we have to make the superbowl . And we still have a chance the playoffs is a different season .

  49. Steelers Nation Says:

Plain and simple BUCS REALLY DO SUCK ALOT OF TAMPA BAY FANS THINK TB12 IS THE SAVIOR NOT REALLY WHY DO YOU THINK NEW ENGLAND LET HIM WALK HE’S TRASH NOW STOP BLAMING THE COACHES
