Rams Injury News In Bucs’ Favor

November 16th, 2020

Beasting and feasting JPP

A key injury has arisen that favors our beloved Buccaneers, and it has nothing to do with the Saints’ third-string quarterback possibly replacing legendary Drew Brees for the rest of the season.

Rams veteran Pro Bowl left tackle Andrew Whitworth has blown out his knee. He won’t play against the Bucs next Monday, though he may return later this season. The 38-year-old leader of the Rams’ offensive line hasn’t missed a game in three years.

Joe feels bad for any guy getting injured, but Joe also will take any good fortune the football gods want to throw in the Bucs direction. This is a real loss for the Rams. Los Angeles might turn to 2018 third-round pick Joe Noteboom, but that is unclear.

The Bucs, of course, are rich in edge rushing talent and do a great job (most of the time) confusing offenses with various looks. The Bucs are a tough matchup for any O-lineman coming off the bench.

Oh no, I totally forgot the next game is another Monday Night game. Ugh. So far these have proven to be too big of a spotlight for Brady. Let’s hope he steps it up this time.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We can use all the help we can get.

  3. BillyBucFan Says:

    Well this will help.
Brady has always been a great non pressure QB.
If you can rush him with 4 its a long night.

Marpet back will be the biggest story this week.
Donald was a non factor last time because of Marpet.

Tom will throw all over the yard if he plays and I feel they rested him on purpose

  4. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Gee………another Primetime blowout for the Jet’s defense…..oh, ops! I meant the Bucs defense again.

  5. Zwak Says:

Why have the Joe’s been black balled from WDAE? They have every other Bucs site on their shows. Are you guys on any other radio stations?

    Thanks.

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Just think if the Saints had a piece of trash backup like Blaine Gabbert right now. We’re hearing Brees is out at least 2-3 weeks, but insiders saying it’s going to be longer than that. Wow, if Garbage Gabbert was their starter you’d be wondering if they’d win another game this year. Ugh.

  7. Mitch Says:

@ Rod Munch Regardless of the collapsed lung I don’t know how five fractured ribs heal enough in three weeks to be safe from re-injury or worse. I would anticipate he’ll miss five more more games.

  8. Rod Munch Says:

Mitch – yeah, I think 5 to 6 weeks is most likely, just saying what they reported, that it could be as short as 2-3 weeks.

  9. Aaron E May Says:

Here we go – a team that has a very smart / creative coaching staff. that can rush 4 and cover with 7 or go man. Obviously we have not looked good against D’s that can do this so I’m hoping for a very imaginative game plan.

I know we want to change it up on D, but our D seems so much better when we are aggressive.

Go Bucs! Need a better showing on national TV!

  10. bojim Says:

I collapsed a lung and broke three ribs in a motorcycle accident. Three weeks? No fricking way!

  11. Bucfanforever Says:

It’s rumored according to ESPN that 3 of the ribs were fractured against the Bucs

  12. Rod Munch Says:

bojim – they said he likely broke 3 ribs against the Bucs, but inflammation caused it not to show up on the exam until today. That is something if he broke 3 ribs versus the Bucs and still dismantled the defense.

  13. Cobraboy Says:

Makes no difference if the Bucs lay another Prime Time egg.

  14. Rod Munch Says:

Mannnnnnnn…. if the Bucs had seen the market collapse and offered Winston the same deal that Saints did, I think he takes it, it’s why he said you can’t get mad at losing your job to the GOAT. If that is the case then who is the Saints QB right now? Is it Hill? He’s not a real QB, he’s a gadget player and teams figure out gadgets when they’re overexposed. If the Bucs resign Winston, saying he’d have taken the same deal, then it means you cut Garbage Gabbert and you don’t have to waste a spot on Ryan Griffin either. Who knows, maybe Payton loves Griffin and brings him back and he’s starting down the strech. If that was the case, what are the odds the Bucs win the south? I’d say it’s 100%.

I was for signing Brady, but also said the Bucs should make an effort to keep Winston – it’s not only about making the Bucs better, my literal nightmare scenario I posted before it happened was Winston going to the Saints and this situation occurring. We will see what Winston does, but I expect him to play well and for the Saints to keep rolling. If they had some piece of trash like Gabbert, I’d expect them to finish 8-8 if Brees didn’t come back. The Bucs are risking the entire year on Brady’s healthy by having such incompetent garbage backups – the Saints were smart enough not to do that.

  15. AMI_Chris Says:

I didn’t notice Russell Okung absence yesterday leading to a big improvement in the pass rush.

  16. Roy T. Buford Says:

Never good for your team to lose the LT.

Brees to miss two, maybe three games. My bet is it is only two. He would play embalmed rather that let the Saints put their season in jeapardy with the turnover machine

  17. Miller5252 Says:

I know they like sticking to their side, but I really think if JPP and Shaq would swap here and there maybe a few more sacks for each of them.

  18. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Ribs fractured against the Bucs? LMAO! What did he do, fall out of the shower at the team hotel?

  19. Roy T. Buford Says:

“It’s rumored according to ESPN that 3 of the ribs were fractured against the Bucs.”

Well, neither games would show that. What did he do, run in to the Bucs team bus during his victory elation?

  20. Rod Munch Says:

Miller5252 – J Watson only has .5 sacks less than David. Why the team used David as a blitzer vs the Packers, then stopped, makes no sense to me. Why the defense has stopped blitzing as often overall makes no sense to me. They had success early being aggressive, which helped cover up for the corner play, then they just seemingly decided to instead go to a passive zone where they just get eaten up.

Maybe it’s perception and I’m wrong, I certainly could be since I haven’t seen the numbers, but does anyone have the blitz percentage by game, in particular on 3rd downs? It certainly feels like Bowles is coaching scared lately.

  21. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Maybe he got sooo drunk in Ybor City the night before that he slipped and fell walking BACK to the team hotel?

  22. August 1976 Buc Says:

If Jamesis has not progressed yet, then the Bucs are in good shape. If he plays smarter and then who knows. Jameis has never shown he can throw accurate consistently yet and I do not know of a QB that suddenly became accurate during their time in the NFL. Also for all the undeniable talent that Jameis has, he still has moments that just have you thinking “What was that” Sean Payton will have a tight leash on him that is for sure. Expect the Saints to take baby steps with him, to build his confidence-or theirs lol and not let Jameis literally Throw away their season. As every Buc fan knows it is Boom or Bust with Jameis. Again Jameis has both Undeniable talent AND “What was he thinking plays” and that is the 2 sides of his legacy as a Buc. BTW he is playing the Falcons on Sunday, the same team he started against his last game with the Bucs. funny how that works out lol. GO BUCS!!!!

  23. stpetebucsfan Says:

Yeah Rod I live in fear of a 28-42 QB with a winning % of 40%

  24. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Rod

This “JW as our backup” fantasy that you have is comical on several levels…

  25. Chesapeake Bay Bucco Says:

Most of ya’ll are just miserable, negative folks….Sad….

  26. All lives matter Says:

Hate to pick at a scab but this is exactly what hurt the Bucs against the Saints, so it just seems obvious we’ll make that wound ooze. Our turn.

  27. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

How is it comical??? He knows BA”s system and is lights better than either of our back ups. With out a doubt he could’ve learned from Brady. What’s comical is people allow their personal hate to cloud their view of what could’ve been a better back up situation than we have now. Brady goes down season is done, with JW as back up you might not know what you can get from him but would still give us a better chance to win with this roster.

  28. SOEbuc Says:

We’ve been getting worked by practice squad players all year.

  29. BigMacAttack Says:

Night games are kryptonite to the Super Bucs. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s 28-0 and 3’rd and 19. Ugh MNF

  30. Craig Says:

I’m sorry for him, but it isn’t the Rams offense we need to worry about. It is their defense.

Goff is having a hard time holding onto the ball, and his protection wasn’t that great anyway.

I worry about Brady getting his apple cart upset again and our offense going nowhere.

  31. All lives matter Says:

Talk about stepping in crap for 5 years and then coming out this season as a Saint smelling like a rose. Not only is his team, because of Brees sweeping our @ss, is 7-2 and in control the division with a the tiebreaker. Let’s hope he shows LA. exactly why we dropped him. Let’s hope he can piss away a season with seven games left playing only one team with a winning record. Talk about a gimme, but wouldn’t it be ironic or maybe poetic justice after embarrassing us on TNF

Ndog should be salivating and drooling on his pitiful porch self.

  32. Jmarkbuc Says:

    DavidBigBucFan99

Divorce your wife. Then ask her to move in with you and your new wife. Let her know you’ve given your new wife $25 million a year to spend, and you’re gonna give her much, much less.

Oh and be sure and tell her your new wife performs much better in the sack and that she’s really not all that good.

Comical, and it ain’t about hate.

JW is not a good QB… let’s hope he stays that way for the Saints… if you’re actually a Buc fan, that is.

  33. geno711 Says:

    @Rod…
You have always been more a Winston fan than most of us here on this site and you high jacked this article to make it about Winston. So sad.

    Brady is our quarterback.

Winston was not worth the 160 million 5 year contract that you were calling for the Bucs to sign him for in December 2019. He is gone.

On to the Rams without their starting left tackle.

  34. Doctor Stroud Says:

And now Matt Gay might be signed by the Rams?! What is this, a Bucs revenge tour? Should we expect him to go 4 for 4 on extra points and kick the game winning field goal? For shame!

  35. gp Says:

    Doctor Stroud
Only if it’s over 60 yards
Anything under that he’s barely 50/50

  36. Rod Munch Says:

geno711 – The news had just broke that Brees was going to be out for at least 2-3 weeks, and most likely a lot longer. It wasn’t hijacking the thread, it was being topical.

Also, yes, I like Winston – although, as stated before I was totally for the Brady signing even if it meant losing Winston. In any case my comments were mainly about how no one with any sense thinks the Saints are not going to be a playoff team and how they’re still in the drivers seat for the division – that’s because they have a top tier backup. The Bucs meanwhile have complete trash as their backup. That puts you at a huge disadvantage, and its something the Bucs should have done everything to address. If Gabbert was starting for the Saints, we’d all be celebrating an easy NFC South title.

  37. D1 Says:

    Rod ,

Who other than winston do you think the team should have made an effort to sign as a back up? Your point on upgrading is a valid one, but I don’t think winston or the bucs were interested. Frankly it makes no sense for either side.

However, there’s still the question of upgrading the back up position . Any thoughts

  38. Joe in Michigan Says:

The Bucs are 7-3, and Rod Munch is crying about the backup QB.

  39. Cobraboy Says:

I’m sure the Kitties were salivating over Marpet being out.

How did that work out for them?

How many times did a back-up QB destroy the Bucs, after a week promising that back-up would be toast?

Some of you guys just do NOT get football…

  40. Mike Johnson Says:

Please..knock off the bs here. Bucs have been facing replacement players all year and getting beat. So this recent Rams injury is just that. We still gotta play all out. The Rams are formidable even with injuries. So our bucs dare slight anybody.
