Joe Montana Talks Tommy

November 2nd, 2020

“Tom, I’m not sure Shady McCoy is Marcus Allen right now.”

It is always interesting for Joe to read what Joe Montana says about park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Montana periodically talks to Brady. So when Montana speaks about Brady, it is easy to connect the dots that Montana has insight into the Bucs most people don’t.

In an interview with the Sporting News, Montana discussed the similarities between his late-career move from the 49ers to the Chiefs, and Brady’s late-career move from the Belicheats to the Bucs. He claimed the Bucs bolstered their running attack as part of a plan to woo Brady to Tampa Bay.

Montana compared it to the Chiefs signing free agent running back Marcus Allen when Montana arrived in Kansas City.

Most Bucs moves, Montana said, were made this past offseason in part to make sure Brady had whatever he needed to be successful.

“Look what they’ve loaded him up with,” Montana said. “It’s crazy what he has at wide receiver, and then you add Gronk into that mix. That’s part of the reason he left New England — there were some things he wanted to do and they weren’t allowing him to do them. Down there [in Tampa], they gave him free reign to run the offense, doing what he wanted to do.

“A similar thing happened in San Francisco, when we got Jerry Rice and John Taylor. It became easier for me to push the ball downfield. Look at the numbers the Bucs put up last year — it was insane. That’s why he went there.”

Joe doesn’t doubt Montana for a second. It is reasonable to assume concessions were made in order to lure Brady out of Boston.

If that means the Bucs brass promised Brady they would beef up the running back position, trade for his buddy and future Hall of Fame tight end foot-rubbing, car-littering Rob Gronkowski and let furniture-tossing Antonio Brown room with Brady, so be it.

Thus far, whatever concessions were made appear to be very wise choices indeed.

    Bye, Paul.
This got old over and over again. Joe thanks you for your patronage.–Joe

  4. Paul Says:

YOU RUIN IT FOR A LOT OF US by DISRESPECTING BRADY EVERY ARTICLE. … Another gross, needless and malicious misrepresentation. — Joe

  5. Buc1987 Says:

    Thanks Joe. 🙂

  6. Joe Says:

    Paul:

Joe will respond to your copy/paste complaint one last time:

Please demonstrate where Joe has typed that signing Brady was a mistake or that Joe didn’t want him. Were there questions with the signing? If you suggest there were none you are being dishonest with yourself.

Did Brady get run out of a park? Yes he did.

Did he barge into some stranger’s house unannounced? Yes he did.

Did he not listen to the NFLPA when they put out an edict not to hold practices away from team facilities? Yes he did.

Did he forget he had a fourth down in Chicago? Yes he did.

If you have an issue with “disrespect,” it is Brady who disrespected himself (and his team), not Joe.

Interestingly, Joe has read various other sources (including BSPN and the mayor of Tampa) refer to Brady as “breaking into” homes. Funny, you only seem irked by Joe, not by others. Why?

And this may surprise you, but every person employed by Team Glazer puts their pants on one leg at a time just like you and Joe. But with Brady and Gronk, they may have more appealing assistance with this task.

As always, thanks for reading and commenting.

Still thinking your farting is funny when its not. You gant get rt out out of your own way. You think you are getting a rise out of those that disagree with you. So you do it repeatedly. Like pissing people off is something you look forward to. Lmao. Thats just pathetic. You blog to piss people off. Joe doesn’t do anything of the sort. Why maliciously attack Joe? You don’t get to make up things about Joe. The remainder of your post is deleted –Joe

  14. D-Rome Says:

Kwon Alexander traded to the Saints.

Joe- No disrespect to you, but I wish you’d lose the adjectives for Brady. He’s the best thing to happen to the Bucs in a long time. I skip over it every time because in my opinion it’s a waste of verbage. You called the Saints 3rd string QB America’s QB, couldn’t you come up with something better for the guy that chose Tampa and is making our team exciting again?

  16. Mike Says:

Loved Montana back in the day. Had the IT factor. Brady has IT too, and he’s a Buc! Feels good to be winning!

  17. D-Rome Says:

Joe, your nicknames don’t bother me one bit but your nickname for Brady is, in a way, loaded language. Loaded language is probably not the best description but I think you and others know what I mean. You could very easily choose to use 6x Super Bowl Winning, 3x MVP Tom Brady but you choose to use park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Tom Brady. Similar to Jameis Winston. You could simply use Jameis Winston or choose to use W eating, pass gifting, 3rd string backup quarterback Jameis Winston. Instead, you still use the America’s Quarterback moniker.

Again, I don’t care. Given the way that you shape your stories it’s evident you (at least *this* Joe) would have preferred the Bucs re-sign Jameis Winston and that you were a fan. Still, I know that above anything else with this team all you care about are wins and wins is good for business.

  18. idiaznet Says:

Joe I will say I’m not thrilled with the names for Brady. but he did love the ribbing when Manning did it for the golf game. He said that “He spoke with the Police Chief and was assured that Orlando would be in the the ankle monitor’s coverage.” So if Brady is good with it then so am I, after all he is the one that matters most. LOL, glad you can have your fun and we can have our wins.

    So Win / Win!!!

  19. Buczilla Says:

It would be awesome to know all of the details that went into us landing Brady, but ultimately I don’t care. I just want us to get back to being in the mix for the playoffs every year. Brady is something this team has never had and I’m already spoiled. Fun as hell football year so far.

Joes doesn’t respect you or me or Paul or the dozens who have said the same thing. He doesn’t respect multiple Super Bowl champions and HOFers in Brady and Gronk. He doesn’t respect his advertisers who have to look past his ill will. No….despite being asked, pleaded with, entreated to and cajoled about, Joe still farts in the room and thinks its funny.

  21. Bucsfan77 Says:

Stop hassling our moniker slinging, Americas QB loving, click bait trolling, 1 hour polling, writer Joe. Just because he uses monikers for Six ring toting, avocado ice cream eating, defier of father time, Super model banging, field controlling general, team elevating leader, Defense reading guru, only player coach gm in football, Tom Brady.

  22. thisisouryear!! Says:

Bucsfan77- Thats’ the best. Thank you.

  23. SufferingSince76 Says:

Thanks, Joe! Another one bites the dust!!

  25. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Bye moniker hating, always biotching, can’t take a joke Paul!

Maybe if I screw up Tony Robbins can fix my life. If it works with SB anything is possible.

  27. Curse of Gruden Says:

A Tony Robbins reference! Too funny….

  28. Iamabuc Says:

I also believe it’s a waist of time and space, Joe. It’s your site, I get it. I just think is stupid to go against the likes of your readers and be stubborn about it, like thinking you’re serving first class journalism when you’re not. Specially when puting down Brady, the best thing that ever happened to this franchise while uplifting Jaboo. It’s beyond me, I swear. I just skip over all the crap and quickly get to the real reading part. That’s why I believe it’s a waste of time and ink on your part while alienating your readers.

  29. Jerid421 Says:

Damn Joe. Don’t be so stubborn. I’ve seen more than enough comments about how your exhaustive, hyphen-laden list of descriptors for TB12 is not funny or interesting and that most readers just skip over them. I know I do. At the end of the day, it’s your blog and you can keep writing it however you choose, but some may stop reading it.

  30. SlyPirate Says:

Joe Montana just complimented the Bucs.

    THAT IS SO AWESOME!!!

    Sorry for Steve Young, Joe.

  31. Discobeef Says:

Gaaaah, so many feelings in here. Go take a C4MH.com T shot and harden up you Boston babies.

  32. 1sparkybuc Says:

I just skip over the adjectives as well as the complaints about the adjectives. It’s all a waste of time and effort. Get over it. Read what’s important, make a comment if you want, and move. Don’t sweat the small sh!t, and this is definitely small sh!t.

  33. #1bucfan Says:

Y’all seen Peter kings moniker it’s awesome haha
