Chiefs 27, Buccaneers 24

November 29th, 2020

Timeout! The Bucs weren’t supposed to play badly when the sun is shining.

What the heck was with that start today? Trailing 17-0 after the first quarter? The Chiefs are damn good but they’re not that good.

Oh, well, the Bucs are now 7-5 with a very welcome and needed bye week up next.

Yeah, the men in pewter made a great game of it today after the ugly start, but the Chargers, Raiders and Panthers played as well against Kansas City. So Joe isn’t doing cartwheels about a close loss and a moral victory in the final 45 minutes.

The sad reality is the Bucs came out looking exactly like they did last week — like a team only good enough to make the playoffs and get knocked out hard in the first round.

Joe will tip a cap to everyone on the Bucs defense not named Carlton Davis. The Bucs made a lot of strong stops but the offense squandered too many away. The Chiefs even punted three times in the first three quarters. That’s rare. Plus another Chiefs punt came midway through the fourth quarter with the game still not decided.

Unfortunately, Tom Brady was nowhere good enough, despite the big passing numbers, three touchdowns and 345 yards. His two picks were crushing.

The Bucs are now 2-5 against good football teams this season. (Joe’s including the Bears until they lose later tonight). That’s troubling, but the optimist in Joe says the Bucs just went toe-to-toe with two top-flight teams and came up a play or two short.

  5. Rod Munch Says:

Bowles is a piece of garbage cowardly coach. 3rd and 7, game on the line, he just sticks with his soft zone that has literally never worked. Pu$$y.

  6. SteveK Says:

Tyreke Hill was allowed to beat us. Plain and simple.

  7. Jack Says:

Coaching and play calling lost this game.

    Very disappointing

  9. Rod Munch Says:

Bowles is a cowardly piece of trash.

  10. Boltsfan17 Says:

Bucs aren’t in the same area code as the Chiefs. Tear this garbage down and start over.

  11. Imhere247 Says:

Blame the coaching … Brady is not a QB to throw 30 times a damn game and Arians needs to use the freaking run game … Brady had the big pass to Godwin then he’s gonna throw another big pass … run the ball to set up the damn pass

  12. NPRSageBoy Says:

If Bucs make playoffs, it will be a miracle

BA and Leftwich suck canal water.

  13. Bucfanforever Says:

Bucs are excellent. They didn’t want to give away their game plan for beating the chiefs in the super bowl.

  14. Asdf Says:

Offense has too many pieces. Does seem to be a real identity or rhythm.

The offense since AB has been wildly inconsistent

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Are we still going to get the 100 stories about how evil it is to throw deep or can we put that to rest for a week? Oh right, I know the answer already, get the copy and paste clipboard ready.

  16. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Time for the GLAZERS to FIRE BA and BL now

  17. NashvilleBuc Says:

Why did they go turtle at the end of the first??

  18. SKBucsfan Says:

I can’t wait to see a 60 minute effort against a good team. They better bring it for the next 4 plus games

  19. Kalind Says:

Toilet really screwed that game over.

How do you put Davis on Hill? Ever??? Ever!

    Should be embarrassed.

  20. Swanee22 Says:

Awful draft choices our GM has made in secondary. Lousy evaluator of talent.

  21. Bangkok Buc Says:

Another terrible start doomed them. Why can’t we start on time on either side of the ball lately. This bye is at a perfect time.

  22. SRG Says:

    Just good enough to lose.

  23. HeavyE Says:

We have to get rid of the 3 so called DB’s ( Bunting, Davis & Dean) too SOFT!!!

  24. Rod Munch Says:

Game on the line, 3rd and 7, game is over if you don’t get a stop, and Bowles goes to a soft zone. Just a garbage, cowardly coach. No wonder even the Jets didn’t want him.

  25. UKBuccaneer Says:

Dink and dunk worked when they eventually tried it – the offense osnt the problem here.

    The secondary. GD that secondary.

  26. Warrenfb12 Says:

Rams just got beat by the niners.

  27. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Mismatched

    Mismanaged

    Miscoached

  28. Kalind Says:

Oh, and lest we forget…more idiotic play calling in the first half.

Praise Jesus for whoever decided to stopping playing Chukkah in the second half.

  29. BDub Says:

Until we stop the air raid attack and play smart football this will be the outcome.

  30. Mirrormirroronthewall Says:

Well it is $h!t talking time. At least the Bucs are 7-5!

  31. Asdf Says:

@Swanee22 – dude it’s the chiefs. They are the best offense in the NFL. They are going to get their points.

We needed 30 prob 35 to win this game

  32. LVMYBUCS Says:

Spent to much money on offense and on secondary

  33. UKBuccaneer Says:

And we need to get healthy on both lines – that’s absolutely vital. Truth is, the season may have been lost with Vita going down.

  34. HeavyE Says:

    We need to feed ROJO!!!!

  35. Patrick Says:

Our secondary sucks and Leftwich is inept as an OC. Brady played his heart out

  36. TheBucsAnthem Says:

A+++ talent on offense coached by a pee wee football coaching staff

  37. Surfslowson Says:

When the Bucs actually show up in the 1st quarter we win, today it didn’t happen. Mahomes is amazing any other quarterback and we win today.

  38. SRG Says:

The defense made adjustments after it was seventeen nothing. Great, only gave up ten points. Why didn’t they make those adjustments after the first TD?

  39. bojim Says:

Mahomes could have thrown it with his left hand and still wouldn’t be stopped by the DB’s.

  40. Godlovesbucs Says:

So the gameplan to stop chiefs is to jump short passes, but against the rams and saints the goal was to stop deep passes. Seems a little backwards.

  41. Wee Willie Winky Says:

Thank God for the bye week.

At least they can’t lose that one, although it might be close.

My advice, when TB12 looks more like JayMiss than the GOAT, it’s time to burn this MF’er down and start again.

  42. Roy T. Buford Says:

“The sad reality is the Bucs came out looking exactly like they did last week — like a team only good enough to make the playoffs and get knocked out hard in the first round.”

Wrong. They do not look like a playoff team at all. You don’t lose 3 of your last 4 in similar ways every week. Let’s see if BA comes out again and says he understand the slow start, the sluggish offense in the first half, etc.

    Losers.

  43. Rob Says:

We are not a playoff team. Brady threw 2 more gut wrenching, game costing picks. Competitive final score but close is for losers which is what we seem to do best. Pissed off again. Another crappy season of under performing. With our talent, we shouldn’t be losing all these pivotal games. Should have drafted a quarterback and now when Brady retires, we have nothing and don’t call the turnover machine. Now Brady giving the ball away

  44. Colonel Angus Says:

Bucs have a chance to go 11-5. Win these last 4 and get some juice heading into playoffs. Bye is coming at the right time. There won’t be home field advantage in the post season, except maybe the weather. Would like to see some changes in offensive philosophy coming out of bye. Let’s go run heavy, short passing game and play action. The long ball just ain’t working. Gonna be exciting end to season. I sure as hell ain’t giving up.

  45. Of course Says:

    Pathetic losers

  46. Boltsfan17 Says:

Bucs don’t beat good teams. That’s an just the way it is. As currently constructed and coached the playoffs are a pipe dream.

  47. Rod Munch Says:

Hey guys, it was close, and moral victories count too!

  48. ElioT Says:

A lot of DBs “suck” against the Chiefs. Horrible match up for Davis & Co. but they played hard on a short week with zero ability to rotate upfront.

This loss is on our ancient offensive scheme and subpar execution.

Bruce and Byron should have had a better plan to take some pressure off the defense.

You can’t allow the Chiefs to put up 17 unanswered points on you and expect to win.

All the talent on this offense and it’s not being used correctly.

    Brady deserves blame too.

This team fights, but it’s just not that good to beat the Chiefs, Saints, Steelers, etc…

  49. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Good heart in the second half but send in the clowns, send in all the haters, and bring back the trolls!!! Then silence them… Use this as a spring board!!! GO BUCS!!! LETS FINISH STRONG AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS!

  50. SlyPirate Says:

Why is anyone upset? The Bucs are a slightly above average team.

    We all know that.

They were never going to beat KC. They need to win the last four to make the playoffs and they have a good chance.

  51. JimmyJack Says:

I got a problem with this offense. They did seem to figure it out and mount a comeback. But if that was just a mirage and we dont see this offense consistently start moving the ball we are in trouble. It cant take an entire half to figure out how to pick up a first down.

Its the offenses fault we are down by 2-3 TDs every first half. Same story every week. We put up zero on the scoreboard and incapable of getting first downs.

Maybe the offense finally figured it out today and can start putting together 60 minute efforts. Ill belive it when I see it. Til then our offense is not good enough to win a big game.

  52. Of course Says:

    @colonel

Stfu. They won’t beat Atlanta twice. We can’t stop a good offense and guess what genius? Atlanta has a good offense.

  53. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Our mistake is stopping the run and forcing teams to throw…..at least if they are able to run….it takes time to score…..

Also….a couple of DPIs from Davis would have stopped Hill’s YAC….

  54. Drunkinybor Says:

Why are we not using RoJo more WHY? WHY? WHY?

  55. SRG Says:

Again. The coaching on the Bucs sucked. Not prepared for the speed. Nothing on offense until it was too late to actually win. The Rams were beaten by the 49ers with 13 players on Covid protocol. Meaning they played third and fourth string. I guess their GM is much much better than our Forrest Gump.

  56. Hahahahaha Says:

Yall are still the stupidest fanbase in the history of sports. Hard to defend when they’re on the field every play of the first half. GUESS WHAT MORONS? IF THE OFFENSE CANT STAY ON THE FIELD FOR MORE THAN 4 PLAYS A DRIVE…wait for it…..THE DEFENSE GET TIRED!! Yall are so ignorant. Can’t blame the great white savior in Tom brady for anything right? He was awful. BYRON is awful. #freeronaldjones #underutilizedtop3back #BENCHFOURNETTE

  57. Kgh4life Says:

Ever since AB came aboard, the offense has looked disjointed and inefficient.

  58. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Rod (Nostradamus) Munch,

I thought you said we’d have to score 40 to win today?

  59. Of course Says:

    @jimmyjack

This team has been in trouble and has been for weeks.

This team is not playoff worthy. And we better hope not so we don’t get embarrassed in the playoffs. We’ve had enough embarrassment for one year.

  60. #1bucfan Says:

Wasn’t expecting the defense to contain them at all but dam our offense sucked. All this talent and we can’t score when it counts. Come on Bucs

  61. JimmyJack Says:

SlyPirate we shall see about that. The Bucs got four losing teams left to play. Quite a few chances to proove we are bad and not average.

  62. Koryc Says:

Davis needs to take those damn gold teeth out he’s a joke right now

  63. T REX Says:

    Moral victories are for losers.

Arians is driving the golf cart over a cliff.

    This team is trash.

  64. DBS Says:

Hill is going to beat us again in the bye week.

  65. Roy T. Buford Says:

There were two surprises today. 1. They found themselves down three scores in the first quarter yet again. 2. They got back to within one score.

Not suprised: They lost another critical game. 7-5 baby. MIN, CHI, and SF knocking on the door for the wildcard spots. All three spots could come down to the last week, so it looks. One bright spot. The Bucs still can’t play at home and they should save their fans waste of ticket money.

  66. Greg Says:

Davis was our best option against Hill and Hill was too much. Humbling…. The D became inspired too late. The coaching to prepare the team is ?

  67. Shoulda_Drafted_QB Says:

I am Sad and Jacob Eason is in Indianapolis while Jalen Hurts is in Philadelphia but Trash 🗑 LICHT got us KeShawn Vaughn NICE JOB! the worst GM and needs to lose weight also

  68. JimmyJack Says:

Of Course that is true. But the Bucs did pull it together and the offense did play a great 2nd half.

Its hard to say todays second half was a sign of good things to come. It is easier to score against prevent defenses and we were literally fooled into thinking great second halves were a sign for the last 5 tears with Winston.

Alls I can say is we will see next week. Theres plenty of time to get this offense clicking on all cylinders.

  69. Colonel Angus Says:

    Of course:

STFU? Dude I’d smash your fackin’ face if you had the balls to say that in person. You must be used to losing, Bucs are 7-5, 4 games left vs at best average teams. Bucs will win 3 of those. Just get in the dance and take it from there. But it’s easier to cry like a little defeatist b!tch that you are.

  70. dmatt Says:

As usual BA was outcoached. Will someone please explain to me the reason BA keep taking RoJo out the game. Feed him the ball and he’s sure to break a long one contrary to toe tapping 1 yd or less Fournette. Does BA n BL realize RoJo can be a game changer. I’m not big on ME. He’s too fragile and should catch some of the balls that touch his hand. Gronk is a sure handed reliable player. On the the first int they should’ve called a run play instead of pass. BA is lost in space. We had no one who could’ve covered Hill with the passive pass rush we had on display today.

  71. Roy T. Buford Says:

Colonel, sorry, but they way this team is playing, they will split with the Falcons if they are lucky, and they will likely lose one of MIN or DET. And I’ll say this…if they come off a buy week after losing 3 of 4 in the same embarassing way, and lose to MIN…they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs.

  72. JimmyJack Says:

I did feel bad for Davis. He is a lot better then thise 3 TDs. Getting destroyed as a CB is unfortunately part if the games. Happens to sll of em.

  73. Roy T. Buford Says:

    Colonel…STFU on your threat comments.

  74. true biucfan Says:

Well if the Bucs win the next game. The fans will jump on the superbowl bandwagon again. I think the two games against the Saints and this game which the Chiefs D let up after up 17th in the 4th says it all. But this fanbase will never get it still stuck on believing they will raise the SB trophy this year is unbelievable to me.

  75. Memphis Buc fan Says:

Through all these comments about the DB’s and coaches nobody mentioned the QB. Didn’t the QB throw two picks that could have been at least six points? Or did everybody else miss that?

  76. Alimp Says:

We almost beat the best team in the league and we were not playing at our best. I liked what I saw especially in the second half.

Coaching was abysmal. Y’all better not come for Brady cause he played damn good and the O-line played attrocious.

  77. AlV Says:

You know the funny thing about playoffs is we’re the 6th seed. The Cardinals who have thee 7th seed lost today. So be quiet about us not making the playoffs. We’re in very good shape.

  78. GOBucs Says:

This Bucs team just went toe to toe with a team that has lost exactly once in an entire calendar year. This board is full of a bunch of terrible fans. Good job to the Bucs for playing hard, good job for Bowles to make adjustments in 2nd quarter. Keep figuring it out and getting better. Go Bucs, can not wait to see you in the playoffs again.

  79. Hodad Says:

The Chiefs stumbled to victory. They lost interest after putting up a quick 17, F’d around the rest of the game, yet them winning was never really in doubt.

  80. UKBuccaneer Says:

This is still the best bucs team we’ve seen in a long time, and it’s setup to be the most successful season since we had Josh Freeman under centre. We’re not going to win the Super Bowl but only idiots thought that we were. Enjoy the ride.

  81. Bobby Says:

I actually picked us to win today and we should have. If we come away with 7 instead of 3 the first drive of the second half, if Brady doesn’t throw 2 stupid picks, if we have an offensive game plan the first half that mimicked the play calling of the second half, and if the D shows up before they have a 17-0 lead.
We have a good team but we find a multitude of ways to lose. The roughing call against JPP was ridiculous. His arm was up to block the throw and he barely touches Mahomes helmet. Bush league call that hurt us time wise.

  82. BucsBro Says:

The Brady pics came because he and the team failed to pick up the pressure KC brought on the plays. This is how you beat the Bucs offense (when they don’t beat themselves). Just bring pressure and they’ll melt down.

Fix this issue, and keep the playcalling smarter (as it was mostly as the game wore on) and the offense will roll.

  83. JimmyJack Says:

UK….I held out hope we could win a Title this year. Heck, its sports. Anything can happen.

Most of that hope pretty much died against the Saints. But still ya never know.

My goal that I always had was that Bradys 2nd year was the more realistic time to see us make a huge title run. And really it might take 3 if Bradys got 3 in him………And you see this scenario play out over history. Rarely do you see a team get built and win in year 1. It usually takes a team thats never been to the playoffs to get into the playoffs and take a loss to figure out what it takes. Its a different intensity in the playoffs. It looks likely we take a bad loss this year then come back next year hungry to get further. Thats usually how it plays out.

  84. JimmyJack Says:

We gotta play with that playoff intensity. This team dont know how to do it. We never been there.

Let em figure it out guys and dont wet your pants. Jeez have fun and enjoy the ride and lets see how good we can get. We hadent even got to the playoffs yet and yall are calking for the Coaching staffs heads? Seriously what is wrong with some of yall?

  85. Of course Says:

    @colonel

    6’4 240.

Bring it big boy. You won’t smash anything. I’ll smash you and then take your girl.

Your stupidity will make it easy.

  86. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

No they didn’t go toe to toe, the Rams and Chiefs took their foot off the gas and the Bucs necks!

  87. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

    Ooooh chick fight!!!

  88. unbelievable Says:

Being down 3 scores in the 1st quarter was a surprise?

They should be used to it by now

  89. Frank Pillow Says:

Romo absolutely and rightly lit-up BAs game plan all afternoon long. It was a painful broadcast to listen too b/c of how spot on his assessment was. BA and his merry band of sycophants may want to turn the volume up and do some soul searching during the off-week.

  90. ClwJB Says:

    Secondary is HORRIBLE!!!!!

This team is a poser, not nearly good enough to be in the SB discussion

Brady is toast with this OLine

  91. Bobby Says:

    Of Course

Probably 5’4 240. You might smash a cake or a rack of ribs…maybe a pumpkin.

  92. Colonel Angus Says:

Roy T, you ain’t gotta to apologize dude. Losing is a real d!ck punch, we all hate it. I think we’ll get the Vikes, we should be able to stop their run game and Cousins ain’t no Mahomes or Brees. Lions should have UHauls backed up to their stadium and I can see a split with Falcons. 10-6 gets us in and then anything can happen with the most experienced playoff QB under center. But Arians/Leftwich need to cater this offense to what TB does best, and that’s dink and dunk and go deep off the play action. Need to go run heavy, 3 tight end sets. Let’s hope our coaches can self scout and adjust, nothing worse than coaches who refuse to adapt to player’s strength. I’m just glad to be playing meaningful games in December.

  93. Of course Says:

    @bobby

    Wanna find out tough guy?

  94. Bucamania Says:

Brady and the secondary were just plain awful for most of that game.

Of course Devin White was invisible again unless you count the tackles he had after he gave up a catch.

  95. Mirrormirroronthewall Says:

The Bucs did not stand a chance against the Chiefs. The Chiefs were manipulating the spread.

  96. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Please stop with the toe to toe. We played just good enough to lose. Even if we scored that 1st td because our defense couldn’t even stop the run that last drive when they knew it was coming. They would’ve easily moved in for the game winning field goal. They gave up 500 yards offense, they couldn’t have stopped them if they wanted to.

  97. Oneilbuc Says:

Once again yall hate to blame Brady for anything but if this was Jamies it would be his fault . Lol lol 😆🤣😂 !!!

  98. JimmyJack Says:

Oniel well I dont know who these people are but Brady flat out sucked today. The comeback efforts are fun and and all but you overall suck as a QB if your cant get a first down for an entire half and fall behind by 17……..Throw in a bonheaded pick, 2 overall, and a futile comeback loss and you got an earily similar game to Winston.

Winston never did figure it out and put it together. Lets hope Brady can figure it out.

  99. Buczilla Says:

Man, what a bummer. Brady is almost looking his age and maybe Simms and Ira got it right about that Hill guy? 🙂
